An extremely popular club that has the kids looking forward to using their hands in creating something personal as well as beautiful. In addition to developing fine motor skills, it also improves confidence and increases one’s patience levels.

Drama enhances verbal and nonverbal expression of ideas. It improves voice projection, articulation, fluency of language, and persuasive speech. By using games and role play to boost their confidence, children learn collaboration, leadership, presentation and communication skills that will help them throughout their lives.

Karaoke is also great for improving a child's self esteem and confidence. Considering that public speaking is regarded as one of the highest ranking fears in adults, teaching a child to be fearless when it comes to taking the stage is a great head start!.

Dance allows us to inspire and motivate others to come of their shell and express themselves through movement, emotion and music. It also brings everyone together as we are all equal and sharing the same ambition and dream.

Arts and craft activities help instil a sense of achievement and pride in children, boosting their self-confidence. Experiences in art, craft and design enable them to learn how to reflect critically on their own and others' work. They learn to think and act as artists, makers and designers, working creatively and intelligently.

Doing science projects helps develop a child's resourcefulness, particularly their skills at goal-setting, planning, and problem-solving. It also nurtures intellectual curiosity, helping children acquire new ways of asking questions and understanding the world.

FIELD TRIPS Going on a field trip enhances their critical thinking skills and gives students a chance to think about a topic or theme from a different perspective. A school trip gives students the chance to experience new venues and have an holistic experience in the learning process. Class III – INS Shikra

BOOKS ARE OUR BEST FRIENDS The famous English writer Jeanette Winterson once said, “Books and doors are the same thing. You open them, and you go into another world.” That’s the magic books are capable of doing. They can be our best friends who will stay with us and never walk away from us. Just by reading a book, we can learn about faraway places and learn about various cultures and traditions. Books not only inspire us to do good things in life, but also motivates us to work towards the betterment of society.

WHAT I LIKE MOST ABOUT MY FAVOURITE FICTIONAL CHARACTER Have you heard of the famous Harry Potter series? Today, I am going to tell you about my favourite character, Hermione Granger! Hermione is a Muggle-born (born to non-magical parents!), who joins the wizarding world and proves her worth. What did I like first about her? She is a hardworking and studious child. You see, she takes MAMMOTH books for light reading! She is a personification of courage and friendship. She not just stood by her ever-in-trouble friends, Harry and Ron, but also scooped them out of troubles through her wit.

We live with them, they make us happy, they are always with us… Books are our very good friends indeed!

I could see her love, when she maturely handled her parents to keep them safe in the last book of the series. I enjoyed how she applied her knowledge to fight against evil. And how can I forget? I simply love her magical handbag which could fit in infinite items, from a tiny teaspoon to a big tent! For me, Hermione is a perfect blend of intelligence, courage and love.

They sharpen our minds and improve our creativity and imagination. Good books enrich the mind by providing knowledge thereby widening our horizons.

MY FAVOURITE SPORT My favourtite sport is football. In a game of football, there are two teams consisting of eleven players each. They also have two substitutes players in each team. All that is needed for a good game of football is a ground, two goalposts and a football. It is a game that needs a great deal of skill and more importantly, teamwork. Football is watched worldwide and my favourite players are Christiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Some well known Indian footballers are Sunil Chhetri, Bhaichung Bhutia, Jeje Lalpekhlua and Gurpreet Singh Sandhu. It is an interesting and exciting game and therefore my favourite! WHY BOOKS ARE MY BEST FRIENDS

MY THOUGHTS AS I STEP INTO SENIOR SECONDARY

Books let you imagine with your mind in anyway you like. It also teaches us valuable lessons and we also get a lot of values in life.

In the coming few months I will be completing my Primary education and stepping into the new milestone of my educational journey. I am going through all the feelings of excitement, happiness, nervousness and anxiety.

Books draw us and intrigue us in such a way that you can’t leave a book until it’s finished. A book helps us in building up our vocabulary and improve our grammar. Good books not only increase our knowledge but also build our character. Some books give us directions in our life. Books can help us cheer up and it makes us happy. Also, reading a book at bed-time helps us sleep better. One can read a book anytime you like and anywhere. And that’s the reason I like books. I always carry books with me wherever I go. It is like travelling with my best friend. Books are the most precious treasure one can have. Shauryaveer Sharma Class IV F

As I step into senior wing, there will be lot of responsibility. Teachers will new and unknown and we all have to be independent in our fields. There will be juniors of primary school who will be looking at us for guidance and willing to learn from us. We all will have double the responsibility. There will be new subjects which will be added to our curriculum like Sanskrit and Social Studies. The mistakes I made and casual attitude which I used to have during my primary sections needs to be shredded. I have to focus on my studies as well as work on the overall development of my personality as these years will decide my future. Parth Class V D BOOKS ARE MY BEST FRIENDS

It was aptly said by Dr. A.P.J.Abdul Kalam that, “One book is equal to hundred good friends. One good friend is equal to one whole library.” Books are my best friends because in addition to giving us knowledge it is a source of great joy. When you are surrounded by so many new words, your vocabulary will have so many awesome new words. It builds our imagination and they have a surprise around every corner. There are different kinds of books comic books, novels, magazines and story books. We can learn a lot from books, including some important life lessons. It fills up our free time and keeps us entertained. For all these reasons, books are my best friends.

THE THING I LIKE MOST ABOUT MY SCHOOL

PROUD TO BE AN INDIAN

I study in NCS Mumbai, and it is one of the most favourite schools I have studied in. It’s wonderful motto: ‘Knowledge is the only God’ always inspires us to do our best. Because we are nothing without knowledge.

I am proud to be an Indian because of its rich tradition and heritage. My country is the land of emotional bonding and a place where human relations are strong. We live with everyone in peace and harmony. My country has a population of 130 crores, who collectively speak more than 22 languages. In addition, each state has its own rich culture. Indians belong to different religions and we celebrate all festivals together. Swami Vivekanand once said, “Be proud that you are an Indian, proudly claim that I am an Indian.” Harshita Kaushik Class IV F

The school has modern and digital classrooms. In addition there is scope for plenty of extra-curricular activities for our all-round development. It is a great school and I really love it.

MY FIRST SEAT IN THE BUS I was so happy to join the offline school, after one full year of online classes. Everything seemed new and different! New bag, new uniform, shining shoes and a new school. As I entered the school for the first time, my class teacher took me by my hand to the classroom and we all introduced to each other and new made friends. Every morning at 7:15 AM, I would eagerly wait at the bus stop for my favourite bus. Amongst all children, I always wanted to be the first in line, so that I could get the ‘first seat’. This became our secret competition, the one who reached the bus first would get the first seat. Often it would lead to petty fights, children complaining to their Mummy(s) and Papa(s), who would rather laugh it out. Everybody would say, “Kids, when you grow up you won’t fight on such small issues…” A year has almost passed now, the bus is no longer new. We have made so many new friends and found new games. There are so many things to talk about while we are going to school and coming back. Suddenly, the sad little first seat is always lying vacant. No one is fighting to sit on that seat anymore. I think new found friends have become more important than the seat itself. A friend asked me in the bus, “Have we grown up…?” I had no answer but to reply, “Probably yes!” Disha Mathur Class III C

She loves her mother like me and argues with her father because her father doesn’t like dogs especially Timmy. Well that’s the end of my article….. Hope you liked reading it.

MY THOUGHTS WHEN I ENTER SENIOR SCHOOL When I take my first step into the senior section, I am going feel so much older looking at my juniors and also feel surrounded by new and unknown teachers aside from a few. I will feel like going back to the junior school because it was much easier there. I was just thinking of whether my new teacher in senior school will be as sweet as the one I had in junior school or if she’d be strict or maybe she’ll give us a lot of homework? But still I am very happy and excited to be going to sixth grade and that is what’s important. Trisha Parashar Class V E

The Glass of Milk

Every evening, as I return home after play, I find a ‘Glass of Milk’ filled up to the brink No excuses or reasons are heard In one gulp, Mumma makes me drink! One day I had to ask her, where do you get milk everyday and How? She told me that it is a mother’s love for her baby Alas, a baby calf from the Mama cow! I asked, “then why doesn’t the calf only drink it ?” I am sure he must like the taste... She said Mama Cow sent the milk for me, It would cry if even a drop went waste! Then I asked, “why is the colour of milk only white? Why is it not pink, red or blue?” She told me with a smile on her face Because, ‘White’ is the colour of a love that’s true! Then, I quickly grabbed the glass of milk and gulped it down, before Mumma could count Ten... I wanted to sketch the Mama cow and her calf I took out my notebook and a sketch pen! IMPORTANCE OF WATER Earth is the only known planet in the universe where life is possible only because of the availability of water and oxygen. Water is the most important necessity of life for all the living beings on earth. Without water, no one can exist even for a day. We also know that about limited availability of clean water or drinking water on Earth. So we should not waste clean water and save it for future generations. We should change our bad habits into positive ones and spread awareness among people about the importance of clean water. We should promote judicious use of water and saving of water of clean water to maintain the continuity of life on earth. Without water, life is not possible on Earth. All living things like humans, animals, plants, etc need water to grow, develop and live. Water is the only source of life for all lives here. My Mother We all have somebody special in our lives that we look up to. Somebody who is always there for you, ready to help you when you need it the most. For me, that person is my mother. Ever since I was a little child I’ve had enormous respect and admiration for my mother. She brought me and my two siblings up very well and she taught us important values. She taught us the importance of behaving well, respecting others and being considerate towards others. Another reason why I respect and admire my mother so much is that she is always, concerned for our well-being. It’s fair to say that all of us love our mother and I’m pretty sure most of us look up to them too. I suppose you could say that I look upto any mother who has brought up a child well, not just my own mother: Neha Kumari Class V A

The Happiest Day of My Life School days should be a happy time in a young person’s life. What could possibly make a someone’s life a misery during this time? In my opinion there is one word that answers this question – bullying! Unfortunately, bullying is quite common in many schools. It can affect students of any age, and both boys and girls. A friend of mine had a very negative experience at school last year as an older boy continually called him names and sometimes posted nasty messages about him on social media. My friend felt very bad and was very upset about it. It slowly affected his self confidence too. He hated going to school after a point. What can we do to stop this menace? Personally, I think teachers need to be aware of the problem and deal with it strictly. They should regularly discuss the issue and make the bully aware of how his/her actions and how it affects their victims. As for students, if they find out a classmate is being bullied, they should stand by them and make a teacher aware of the situation. Bullying can be a nightmare but there are things we can do to prevent it. Hopefully one day all students will be able to go to school without the slightest fear of being bullied. That will be the happiest day of my life! Nemika Kumari Class V A

COOKING IS FUN Cooking is a great way to spend time with family and learn important life skills. Here are three easy and delicious recipes that children and beginners can enjoy making: 1. Eggless pancake is a tasty and simple breakfast option. To make the batter, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, milk, and vegetable oil. Cook the batter in a non-stick pan until light brown on both sides, then serve with toppings like syrup, cream, honey, or berries. 2. Tacos are a fun and versatile dinner idea. Brown ground add onion, garlic, spices, and tomato sauce, and simmer. Heat taco shells in the oven, fill with the meat mixture, and add lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and sour cream (if desired). Serve hot. 3. Pizza is a classic favorite that is easy to customize to your taste. Spread tomato sauce over a pre- made pizza crust, top with shredded mozzarella cheese, and add toppings of your choice (such as pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, peppers, etc.). Bake in the oven at 425°F for 10-12 minutes and enjoy

My thoughts as I leave Primary School I feel a little sad as I leave the familiar primary school, but at the same time I feel a sense of excitement. A lot of my friends are moving because of transfer, so I hope I make some new friends in Class 6. I am really excited about being able to buy food from the canteen. I am a big foodie and I enjoy eating good food. I am sad about leaving my teachers and I will really miss them. My seniors tell me that Class 6 is not easy and we will need to work very hard. It worries me a little, but I am sure we will do just fine. I am little nervous and happy too. I can make new friends, meet new teachers and learn new things! J.L.R.Nidhi Class V B

A Friend is a Gift!

I love my mother the most as she is the light of my life. She is a walking miracle. She is courageous, helpful and beautiful. My mother is in my heart. She is the most beautiful woman in the world for me. A mother understands what a child doesn’t say. I am blessed that I have a mother and I truly appreciate all that she does for me. An Unforgettable Trip One day we decided to go for a trip. We went with my mom, dad, Sebastian uncle, Libi aunty, my friends Jude, Johan and myself. [JJA -Jude, Johan, Anlina] This is our team. We were so excited to go Marayoor and Kanthaloor. We got up early in the morning for the trip and went to my friends’ home to pick them. They were already ready and we started our journey at 6:30 am. We (JJA) spent most of the time in sunroof but we couldn’t continue much longer because it was getting colder and colder. On the way we had our breakfast and we saw many monkeys swinging and jumping from the trees. At last, we reached Atrikadavu Waterfalls. It was a big waterfall among the cardamom plantation. Then we continued our journey through tea estates, we stopped our car to take photos. That day we stayed in a resort at Munnar. Next day, early morning we started our trip to Marayur and Kanthaloor. We started our journey through tea plantations. My friends and I stood in the sunroof to enjoy the cool breeze. On the way we saw huge trees full of beautiful lavender flowers. It reminded me of Victoria Kann’s story Pinkalicious, Cherry Blossom. Then we reached the dense jungle of Marayur and we explored this heavenly place and enjoyed the sight of aromatic sandalwood trees there. We spotted several deer in the sandalwood forest and we took photos. We continued our journey through sugarcane farms. We noticed a small jaggery factory and stopped our car. Jaggery is manufactured by farmers, mostly belonging to the Muthuva tribe. They explained the procedure for making jaggery. They rolled the jaggery with their hands and it was too hot and we couldn’t touch it with our hands. We bought jaggery from there. I played with Jude and Johan in the sugar cane farm. Next, we started our journey to Kanthaloor. We passed many rocky mountains. We stopped at Muniyaras which are magnificent prehistoric dolmens. My father explained that it belonged to the Neolithic Age, these above ground burial chambers are built with large stone slabs and are called Megaliths. We trekked through the area of Muniyaras to reach 15 different types of Dolmens, believed to be from the years between 3000BC and 14000BC. Then we moved to Kanthaloor, the apple village of Kelala. There are many fruits and vegetables orchards in this place. Oranges as well as variety of peaches are grown here. There are strawberries, lichis, tree tomatoes, black sapota and many other exotic fruits. We went inside these orchards and played a lot. From there went an off-road drive which took us into the forest area and we trek through narrow and bumpy roads and finally reached amazing plain rocky view point. It is also called Bhramaram rock. This area is surrounded by lemon grass farming. And there is a beautiful tree house. We also bought lemon grass oil from there and we enjoyed the sunset. Anlina Aju Class V A

A Trip of Lifetime: Tso and La Ladakh, a beautiful place, full of culture, tourist hotspots, treks, and beautiful landscapes. We all agree that it is an amazing place. I went on a bike expedition with my father to Ladakh. So, based on my experiences I have heard of some Ladakhi terms such as ‘Juley,’ ‘Tso’, and ‘La’. Even you must have heard about them. La means passes such as and Zojila pass, Changla pass and many more. Tso means lakes. The most prominent lake in Ladakh is the Pangong Lake. Juley, to put it simply is a greeting. Now that you have got a basic idea of these words let’s talk more about them. Let us start from the basics. The Himalayas were created when the Indian Sub-Continent collided with the Asian Plate. Hence, the Himalayas, lakes and rivers were formed. Let us talk about the beautiful Pangong Tso. It is a salt water lake and despite being saline, it freezes completely during the winters. One thirds of the lake is in the Indian borders while the rest two thirds is in the Chinese borders. All together it covers almost 700 km2. It is almost 100 m deep. Did you know that there are 19 passes in the Ladakh Range? And the highest one out of them is Kardungla pass, The World’s Highest Motorable road at 5,359 m (17,582 ft). It connects the Indus valley and the Shyok river valley. But before you go to Kardungla you need to acclimatize at North Pullu or South Pullu. That depends on where you are coming from. When you reach there the already dropped oxygen level drops even more. It drops to 50 to 60%. It feels like you are almost breathless. That is why it is advised not to stay there for more than 10 minutes. Even the army soldiers stationed there cannot stay there for more than two hours. It is open only during May and October as it is very difficult to reach there any time or when an emergency occurs. 3,528 metres (11,575 ft). This is the height of the Zojila pass. It is a very crucial pass as connects it Ladakh and the Kashmir Valley. The places it connects is Sonmarg and Kargil. Did you know that during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1947, Zoji La was seized by Pakistani supported invaders in 1948 in their campaign to capture Ladakh. The pass was re-captured by Indian forces on 1 November in an assault code named Operation Bison, which achieved success primarily due to the surprise use of tanks. It is pretty dangerous in the winters as the word ‘Zoji’ means “Mountain pass of blizzards”. Needless to say, everything about Ladakh is exhilarating. Almost every corner of Ladakh will pump you with extra energy and create memories for a lifetime like it did for me. You should too, visit this place. It’s a trip of a lifetime. As I move on… Primary to Secondary, these are the most crucial years of an ordinary Student. But although this phase can be exciting, they can be a tad-bit stressful. If you're still wondering what I'm talking about well… it is the dreaded exams And not just any exam but the Final Exams of the Academic Session. Hello! I'm Nakshatra and I'm here to tell my Exams felt like. So, let us begin. This Story starts from December 2029, I was in school and my teacher said this at the end of my science class: "Revise this at home. It will come in the exam!" In the break as I had my food, I got a bit nervous in fact, I had gotten goosebumps. When I went back home, I thought to myself "Hmm. Should I study??" Naturally, I did not! What? Don't blame me... my favourite show on the T.V. was going on and of course who would want to miss their favourite show? Sooner or later, without knowing time flew fast and the Final Exams approached. Well then, I guess this was the time for me to "pull up my socks." Just a week away from the Math exam, I started to prepare. This too was no easy task, need I remind you I was no "TOPPER." In my class we very well knew none of us are going to pass Fifth except one child Anushri Dinesh, who is actually the "Head Girl." I remember the day before the Math exam was horrid. I felt as if mice were running in my stomach and then when the night came, I watched some T.V. with my mother and father so that I could be less tensed for the exam. I couldn’t sleep that night, I kept on thinking that I would not be able to do it, that I would fail!! When it was morning, I went to my mother and she told me to stay CALM.

Before I went to catch my bus, my mother told me," You're afraid because you think what you studied won't come in the Exam, this just tells you that you know something So relax and take your time." I felt warm and fuzzy inside knowing that it would go well. Once I reached school, I gave all my best in that paper, realising that the exam was easy I finished it in a minute! In Math class our teacher discussed the paper I saw that most of my answers were correct. I felt good and my friend Geetanjali told me that she had a chance of getting full marks in Math exam. I was so happy for the both of us!! I came home and told my parents everything they said that they were happy cause I understood the questions. Now all I have left are English, Hindi and Science. After our exams the school told us they would be taking us to KidZania!!! I guess that will be fun because I've never been there. I didn’t have a sad story to begin with… but I'm still getting a "Happy Ending" Nakshatra Nair Class V-B
