INTRODUCTION TO OFA

The development of the Online Finding Aids (OFA) application began on January 14, 2005, with the Guidance Section's Online Search Project Proposal Paper, followed by the Online Search Committee in 2008, led by Dr. Hjh Samsiah Muhamad, and is now realised through one of the scopes of the MyCreative Content Project (MyCC).

The MyCC Project's implementation began at the end of 2011, with four primary scopes. The OFA application's development is separated into six major activities. After these four MyCC scopes expire in March 2013, all 3,400,000 pages of archived and published information, as well as 2,242 hours of digital audio visual archives material, will be immediately available through the OFA programme. The usage of OFA offers access to archive resources that are now available to all levels of society without regard to time, location, or temporal constraints. The future usage of OFA will also provide an easy centralised search for all forms of archive content. This is in addition to OFA's capacity to execute centralised searches throughout the COMPASS, AMS, and MAMS systems, which are utilised to hold historical documents of various sorts and formats.

HISTORY OF SELECTED MALAY SULTANATE

Raja Muhammad travelled to Pahang where he was properly installed as Sultan in the year 1470 with the title Sultan Muhammad Shah, accompanied by Tun Hamzah, who was chosen as the new kingdom's Bendahara, Seri Akar Raja, who served as his Hulubalang, a Penghulu Bendahari, a Temenggung, and one hundred young men and one hundred young women of noble families. His kingdom's borders stretched from Sedili Besar in the south to the border with Terengganu in the north. Tanjung Langgar in Pekan, which served as the previous residence of the pre-Melakan monarchs, is where the first Melakan ruler of Pahang appears to have made his home. The happenings during this time remain unclear. As a consolation, Raja Ahmad, the elder brother of the newly anointed Sultan of Pahang, who had also been rejected for the Melaka throne succession, is thought to have travelled to Pahang between the years 1470 and 1475 and been placed as the heir to the Pahang Sultanate by his father. Sultan Muhammad passed away and was buried at Langgar on the Pahang Tua on September 17, 1475. His name, line of descent, and death date are all listed on the inscription on his tomb. The younger de Albuquerque's commentary claims that Sultan Mansur of Melaka had a poisoned son by the daughter of the king of Pahang. It seems more likely that Sultan Muhammad was the subject of this speculative statement.

PAHANG WOVEN FASHION Pahang woven cloth is believed to originate from Riau or Sulawesi and was brought into this state around the 16th century. According to historical records, the great people of Makassar/Bugis led by Tok Tuan or Keraing Aji visited and settled in Kampung Mengkasar, Pekan. He is said to be responsible for improving the way of weaving local silk cloth at that time and known as Pahang weaving. The delicate designs and decorative patterns made by him decorate Tenun Pahang cloth. The design of certain patterns on cloth or textiles is used as a symbol of rank, racial identity, belief, religious ritual and so on. So is the beauty of Pahang Woven cloth which cannot be separated from the distinctive basic pattern design. Various motifs, patterns and different colors are found in Pahang woven cloth.

Pahang woven fabric that uses the ikat technique with striped patterns and horizontal and vertical patterns is suitable as a side fabric to complement Malay clothes for men and sarong or baju pasang for women. Usually this woven fabric is used as a wedding dress. Patterned woven sarongs are divided into horizontal, longitudinal, Rawa or Bugis patterns and Muar patterns. There is also the use of gold thread that produces fine line motifs or the effect of small flowers, sprinkled to decorate the fabric.

BUSANA The earliest traditional Malay clothing was simple, the women wore a sarong that covered the lower part of the body up to the chest while the men wore a simple shirt, whether sleeved or not, with shorts that reached the knee. However, as trade with the outside world flourished, the way the Malays dressed began to receive outside influence and became more sophisticated. The 15th century was the peak of the Malacca Malay sultanate where Islam was the official religion. It was at this time that the traditional clothing Baju Melayu was created. The strong influence of Islam has changed the way the Malays dress to features that are compatible with the Islamic religion
