The province of Batangas is well-known for its white-sand beaches, mountains, and picturesque roads. Tourists travel long distances to this section of the country to sunbathe, swim, snorkel, and scuba dive. The province also features a beautiful underwater habitat with a variety of corals, fish, and other aquatic species. It also has several historic churches, some of which are centuries old. Batangas is an eclectic blend of old and new, with ancient homes and structures dating back to Spanish colonial times coexisting with modern establishments.

SAN JUAN HERITAGE HOUSES

MARCELA AGONCILLO HOUSE

This house was established around the 1780s by Marcela Agoncillo's grandfather, Don Andrés Mario, making it one of the oldest residences in Taal. The ancestral home was subsequently passed down from generation to generation until Marcela Mario inherited it after her grandfather died. Felipe Agoncillo, who married Marcela in 1889, also lived in this house.

The Agoncillo–Mario House is a historic Spanish Colonial Era residence in Taal, Batangas, Philippines. The house is one of the national shrines administered by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) to commemorate Marcela Mario de Agoncillo's contribution to the creation of the Philippine national flag, as well as the deeds and ideals of her husband, Felipe Agoncillo y Encarnación, who became known as the "First Filipino Diplomat."

Marcela Mario Agoncillo is a well-known name in Philippine history. She was the primary seamstress of the Republic of the Philippines' first and official flag. She was dubbed "Mother of the Philippine Flag" as a result of her service. In 1897, she worked on this project while living in exile in Hong Kong. The flag was made of beautiful silk and embroidered in gold, with blue and red stripes and a white triangle with the sun and three stars on it. The flag was completed in five days and came to be known as the "sun and stars flag." It has the distinction of being one of the world's most bizarre flags. This made it different from other flags in that the way the flag is flown signifies whether or not the country is at war.

GOCO ANCESTRAL HOUSE

In 1876, The Goco House was built and owned by Juan Cabrera Goco and Lorenza Deomampo. During the Spanish colonization, the master of the house worked as a treasurer for the revolutionary forces in Taal, earning the trust of the locals. After Taal was designated a National Heritage Town by the National Historical Institute in 1999, the house was restored. The house is an example of a traditional Filipino Bahay na Bato. The lower level is built of stone, while the upper story is made of wood. The ground floor has a type of museum with images and newspaper clippings. The dwelling is positioned on the top level, as is typical of this type of home, with the lower floor serving as a carriage garage.

MABINI SHRINE The Apolinario Mabini Shrine is a solemn memorial to one of the Philippines' founding fathers, and the shrine shares the riches of history held within its walls with visitors. The solemn Mabini Shrine is located in Barrio Talaga, Tanauan Batangas, tucked right in the center of the community. It is a tribute to the "Sublime Paralyctic" patriot, whose moral beliefs and political ideas enlightened Filipinos in their search for national identity. This shrine houses the remains and some personal belongings of the late revolutionary hero Apolinario Mabini, commonly known as the "Brains of Katipunan."

SHRINE OF OUR LADY OF CAYSASAY

TAAL BASILICA Taal Basilica, also known as Basilica Menor de San Martin de Tours, is the biggest in the Philippines and Southeast Asia, measuring 88.6 meters (291 feet) in length and 48 meters (157 feet) in width. It is the pride of Batangas and features one of the greatest architectural designs and most eye-catching structures. This majestic 'larger-than-life' historical monument is named after Taal's patron saint, Saint Martin de Tours, whose fiesta is held on November 11th each year. The size of the Basilica, as well as its Baroque façade, are breathtaking. Its amazing structure is made even more appealing by the addition of hand-painted dome ceilings with meticulous detail. Perhaps the most striking feature is the glowing altar wall composed of gleaming sterling silver and gold, which represents the holy liberty of the tabernacle.
