GREETINGS FROM THE DIRECTOR

Welcome, Thank you for being a part of the 2022 – 23 season at the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts. It seems like each year our lives get a little more hectic and demanding. We are constantly bombarded by requests and responsibilities. Often, we forget to take a moment to nurture ourselves, to grow, to forget our worries, to relax and be entertained. Allow us to help. Our mission, our commitment to you, is to bring light, color, laughter, song and dance into your busy lives. Along the way, we hope to stimulate your sense of wonder as you discover new ways of looking at our world. It’s a tremendous privilege and responsibility, and we do not take it lightly. We spend weeks, months and sometimes years in securing the productions we know our audiences want to see, ones that elevate our minds and our spirits, individually and as a community as a whole. Once we have a commitment from the performers, our dedicated team spends hours working out the details so that each performance comes off flawlessly. Staff and volunteers are here for each performance to greet you, help you find your seats and do whatever it takes to ensure you have a pleasurable and memorable experience. All of this so when the curtain goes up, you can sit back and let your everyday cares fall away. At the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts, we do all this because, like you, we believe in the power of the performing arts. We believe it can heal, transform and make our world a better place. As long as we let it. Enjoy the show!

The legendary John Denver evokes memories of an era in music which was both inspiring and influential. His music was a combination of romance (“Annie’s Song”), folk (“Leaving on a Jet Plane”), country (“Thank God I’m a Country Boy”) and the environment (“Calypso,” “Rocky Mountain High”). He recorded nearly 300 songs, 200 of which he composed, which led to 12 gold and four platinum albums; he was also awarded an Emmy® Award and two Grammy® Awards. He was a brilliant songwriter and a truly gifted performer. And his music lives on!

Ted Vigil Ted Vigil's John Denver musical tribute is, indeed, a high! His audiences warm to him instantly as they once again enjoy the music the world grew to love; they walk out of his concerts feeling refreshed and joyous from the experience. Ted Vigil is a singer, songwriter and a tribute artist. He was born in Seattle and raised in the Olympia area. He has been performing from the age of ten throughout school in concert, symphonic and jazz bands developing his talents as a drummer and singer. Ted Vigil, a man who, according to the late Steve Weisberg (longtime Denver guitar accompanist) closely resembles John both physically and musically, is carrying on the tradition honoring this colossal music icon. Ted is honored to bring the great compositions and hits of John Denver to audiences across America. Ted is not an impersonator, but rather sings a tribute to this great man. People miss John Denver; Ted Vigil is doing his best to pay homage. His gift for the music and polished and energetic performing style presents a warm and delightful evening through some of the world’s most popular music. Ted had been writing, recording and performing his original compositions, which resulted in his winning the national title for Talent Quest in Laughlin, Nevada in 2006. After this win, Ted began to plan a John

Denver tribute show. He began singing his way all over the United States, and in 2007 shared the stage with Keith Anderson, Jeff Bates, and Kevin Sharp on the annual Traveling Kountry Kruz with the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. He also performed twice for the John Denver’s own Windstar Foundation, dedicated to promoting environmental sustainability in the present for a brighter future. That same year, Ted won KOMO TV 4's Northwest Afternoon “celebrity lookalike” contest, and in 2010 he performed with Steve Weisberg and Eddie Kilgallon, keyboard player for award-winning bands Ricochet and Montgomery Gentry. Ted had the incredible opportunity to get together with Eddie. and write a couple of great songs which they've since recorded in Nashville on their new CD project Sing My Songs, which Eddie produced. Ted now performs internationally at all kinds of venues and events. He has wowed the crowd, selling out theatres all over the United States. The most-heard comments after a show are, “I can’t believe how much he looks and sounds like John Denver” and “It really took us back!”
