Prophetic Streams – Seer and Prophet The stream of the prophet and the stream of the seer…

Another way to look at this is to turn it around and think of a great prophetic river flowing from the throne of God that breaks into two streams---the prophet and the seer---which then give different degrees or dimensions or facts of prophetic impartations.

The Realm of the Seer The word seer describes a particular type of prophet who receives a particular type of prophetic revelation of impartation.

What does the bible say about the seer? The Old Testament uses two words primary to refer to the seer: Ra’ah and Chozeh.

The Seer’s Vision A prophet may have the particular grace to hear and proclaim the word of the Lord and yet not necessarily function as profusely in the revelatory visionary capacity as a seer does. The seer, on the other hand, may move quite remarkably in this visionary dream capacity yet not be as deep in the inspirational audible graces of hearing and speaking.

Visual Visual “seeing” involves insight, revelations, warnings, and prophecies from the Spirit of God that may come in the supernatural visual dreams. In such instances, a person sees God’s revelation while his or her spirit simply observes and receives the message. Even though asleep, this person may even see the heavens opened as Ezekiel did in Ezekiel 1:1 or as John did in revelation 4:1.

Diversity of Visionary Sates 1. Onar – Everyday dreams in sleep 2. Enupnion – Stresses a surprise quality about the dream 3. Horama - ”that which is seen”, Spectacle, sight, appearance 4. Horasis – Sight or vision in a external or internal sense 5. Optasia – Sound of concrete from of seeing 6. Ekstasis – Displacement of mind or bewilderment 7. Apokalupsis – Visionary state 8. Egenomehn Ehn Pneunmati – Prophetic visionary state

Types of Prophetic Vision. • A vision usually occurs as a simple picture (or moving picture) coming to mind—the Holy Spirit’s fleeting imprint upon our imagination.

• The New Testament also records a ‘trance vision’. (Acts 10:9-17) During a trance vision, awareness of physical surroundings remains, but the vision also appears real to the senses. • A third type of vision is ‘open vision’, where a person experiences the vision as a physical reality. (Acts 10:3-4)

Seers Taste Spiritual Revelation And he said to me, “Son of man, eat whatever you find here. Eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel.” So I opened my mouth, and he gave me this scroll to eat. And he said to me, “Son of man, feed your belly with this scroll that I give you and fill your stomach with it.” Then I ate it, and it was in my mouth as sweet as honey. (Ezekiel 3:1-3, ESV) Seers Smell Spiritual Revelation But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere. (2 Corinthians 2:14, ESV) Seers Feel Spiritual Revelation “Someone touched me. I know that power has gone out from me.” (Luke 8:46, ESV)

Hearing God is YOUR RESPONSIBILTY!!!

VISIONS, YOUR OLD MEN SHALL DREAM DREAMS, AND ON MY MENSERVANTS AND ON MY MAIDSERVANTS I WILL POUR OUT MY SPIRIT IN THOSE DAYS, AND THEY SHALL PROPHESY.” (ACTS 2:17-18)

Whose voice are you hearing? God’s Voice • Stills you • Leads you • Reassures you • Enlightens you • Encourages you • Comfort you • Calms You

Satan’s Voice • Rushes you • Pushes you • Frightens you • Confuses you • Discourages you • Obsesses you

3 Levels of Accountability Three levels of accountability are: 1.

Personally weighing up the prophecy or vision against Scripture, along with other filters

2.

A means of accountability in your prophetic gift. As well accountability to your own oversight, this includes accountability unique to certain situations (for example to parents if ministering to a young child, or to the leadership of a church where you have been invited to minister)

3.

Accountability for personal guidance and important life decisions. This includes pastoral oversight who know you well and have the big picture of your life and family in mind.
