CHAPTER ONE: INTRODUCTION 1.1

Background of study Missions refers to Missionary work for Christians to travel to places where there may be limited resources and education in Christian principles and practices. Evangelism refers to the task of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ around the world, specifically in Europe. This Thesis is designed to give an analysis of Missions and Evangelism in the European context as I’ve been assigned to the task of Evangelism throughout Europe since 1993.

1.2

Problem of study In the Bible, the Apostle Paul sets forth the precedence of Missions and Evangelism on his Missionary Journey to Rome. The problem is that the Vision and Mission of Evangelism has been polluted by various man-made theologies and misinterpretations of the ultimate task to win souls for the Lord Jesus Christ. The Problem of study in Europe is that there is not enough known interested people in Europe concerned about Missions and Evangelism. Although in the early days, Christians in Europe were the ones who started missions vigorously and even sent Christianity to Africa and other parts of the world. But unfortunately, the zeal is dead and non-existent in Europe.

1.3

Purpose of study With the recent experience of the Global Pandemic, there is no doubt a necessity for Christians to provide more awareness of God being our Refuge. Hence, the Church’s Mission and Vision needs to return to the basics of Christianity which is the preaching and teaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ first and foremost. The Purpose of this study is to re-iterate an awareness of the necessity of Missions and Evangelism for this modern day and time especially in Europe where it grew into great heights after being transported from Israel through fleeing Christians who were being persecuted by the zealous Jews.

1.4

Objective of study The purpose of this study is to bring to light an awareness of the need for more Christian work in the fields of Missions and Evangelism throughout the world, but Europe in particular. The Objective of this study is to enlighten those aspiring to do the work of ministry to strongly re-consider our great commission and re-dedicate to the call to Evangelism. 5

1.5

Organisation of study Each Chapter within this Thesis endeavors to engage in bringing about more of an awareness of the work of an Evangelist and the importance of making full proof of your ministry according to the scripture in: 2 Timothy 4:5 “…do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.” This study will serve as a step-by-step guide of how-to organize the process: § Chapter One serves as the Introduction to the challenge at hand. § Chapter Two will give the Reader a better understanding of Missions. § Chapter Three will illuminate the concept of Evangelism. § Chapter Four will introduce a European perspective as it relates to Christianity. § Chapter Five will present Missions and Evangelism in the European Context. § Chapter Six will be an inspirational dialogue of the Analysis of Missions and Evangelism. § Chapter Seven will give the conclusion which will identify a recommendation for a strategy to implement Biblical principles while practicing modern day applications to fulfill the task of our Great Commission according to: Matthew 28:18-19 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

1.6

Methodology of study The Methodology whereby this Thesis is written is based upon Biblical principles as well as my practical Life experiences in the Ministry of Missions and Evangelism throughout my 42 years of dedicating my life to the work of The Lord. 6

CHAPTER TWO: MISSIONS 2.1

Definition of Missions § Being sent or delegated by authority, with an assignment for transacting Kingdom business § A group or committee of persons with a strong conviction, calling or vocation that is sent to a foreign country to establish relations, propagate the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and evangelize.

2.2

Types of Missions § Christian Missions are organized efforts to execute Evangelism § Medical Missions are organized efforts to execute Hospital work § Missionary Missions are organized efforts to promote Christianity § Teaching Missions are organized efforts to teach Biblical principles

2.3

Historicals of Missions The Apostles of Jesus were among the first to be sent out on a mission to share what Jesus was proclaiming as demonstrated in: Acts 13:1-3 “Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. As they ministered to the Lord, they fasted, the Holy Ghost said, separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.”

2.4

Purpose of Missions Missions signifies purposeful movement – being sent from one place to another for a purpose. Jesus commissioned the disciples in: 7

Luke 14:21-23 “So that servant came and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind. And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.” And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.” 2.5

Importance of Missions in the modern context The importance of Missions in the modern context is simple, nothing has changed. The scriptures emphatically declare it in: Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Missions is just as important today as it was in Biblical Times. Our Mission remains the same as it is written in The Great Commission in: Matthew 28:19-20 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

8

CHAPTER THREE: EVANGELISM 3.1

Definition of Evangelism § The word Evangelism means “good news” and “to proclaim the good news”. It also refers to the “Evangelist” or person doing the proclaiming. § Evangelism is communicating the Gospel through the power of the Holy Spirit so people can accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. § Evangelism is telling someone the Gospel of Jesus Christ with a purpose. The purpose is to help that person to accept Him as Savior and Lord.

3.2

Types of Evangelism There are many types of Evangelism including: § One-on-one Evangelism is when one Christian evangelizes to one non-Christian in a private setting. § Mass Evangelism is a large Evangelistic event presenting the Gospel to a Mass audience. § Door-to-door Evangelism is where you go house-to-house testifying of the Gospel as demonstrated by the Apostle Paul in: Acts 20:16-20 “For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, because he would not spend the time in Asia: for he hasted, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost. And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus and called the elders of the church. And when they were come to him, he said unto them, ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons, Serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews: And how I kept back nothing that as profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house, testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.”

9

§ Prison Evangelism is where you go into the Prison and introduce or re-connect prisoners to God as instructed in Matthew 25:34-40 “Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? Or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” § Sunday School Evangelism is a great Teaching of the Gospel opportunity. It is a time where you can narrate the Gospel on a Child’s level helping them to learn basic scriptures and giving them an opportunity to experience the Love of God on their level. § Social Media Evangelism is the act of spreading the Gospel through digital platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other popular social media platforms. In times past, the only means for Social Media Evangelism was via the Radio. Now we can choose amongst a plethora of 21st Century products to serve as an aide in Evangelism around the world. 3.3

Historicals of Evangelism The history of Evangelism from a Biblical point of view began in: Luke 10:1-12 “After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come. Therefore, said he unto them, The harvest truly [is] great, but the labourers [are] few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest. Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves. Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way. And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace [be] to this house. And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again. And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire.Go not from house to house. And into whatsoever city ye 10

enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you: And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say, Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city.” The history of Evangelism from a practical perspective was in the spring of 1872, Dwight L. Moody became well known as an evangelist during a trip to the United Kingdom. Literary works published by the Moody Bible Institute claim that he was the greatest evangelist of the 19th century. He preached almost a hundred times. One of his most famous quotes was "Faith makes all things possible... Love makes all things easy." He devoted his life to Evangelism/Revivalism, working first in the Civil War with Union troops through YMCA in the United States Christian Commission. In Chicago, he built one of the major evangelical centers in the nation, which is still active. Working with singer Ira Sankey, he toured the country and the British Isles, drawing large crowds with a dynamic speaking style. Religious historian James Findlay says that: Speaking before thousands in the dark business suit, bearded, rotund Dwight L. Moody seemed the epitome of the "businessman in clerical garb" who typified popular religion in late 19th-century America... Earthy, unlettered, a dynamo of energy, the Revivalist was very much a man of his times... Moody adapted Revivalism, one of the major institutions of evangelical Protestantism, to the urban context. ... His organizational ability was demonstrated in the great revivals he conducted in England, combined to fashion his spectacular career as the creator of modern mass revivalism. One of the most historical movements of Evangelism are Revivals. Although, Dr. Billy Graham is the Father of Modern Christian Evangelism. He brought millions of people to Christ around the globe in his lifetime; he indeed was also known as a Revivalist. His tent meetings became “Crusades”, his Revivals lasted weeks at a time. For over six decades he preached in 185 countries and territories and as late as 2005 he was still attracting crowds of 242,000. Dr. Graham supplemented his extraordinary charisma with meticulous advance work, military-grade organization and, eventually, every available technology from radio to television to global satellite transmissions to books and a magazine as well as, eventually, the Internet. He never built a Church, but called himself a 11

Preacher, and not a Pastor, because he had no fixed congregation but mostly because spreading the Gospel was what he did best. (Time.com) 3.4

Purpose of Evangelism The purpose of Evangelism is to allow people who have not heard or have not yet accepted the Gospel of Christ the opportunity to hear the Gospel and respond to it. Jesus’ Mission on earth is articulated in: St. John 3:16-17 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”

3.5

Relevance of Evangelism Evangelism unites all nations, races, tribes, and cultures by reconciling all humanity to God through Christ. We see this on the Day of Pentecost in: Acts 2:5-11 “And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.”

3.6

The Power of Evangelism The power of Evangelism is bringing GOD to people. The Holy Spirit, with all His fruit, gifts, and power, must become a reality in our lives. The word must be preached and taught with the demonstration of power. Acts 1:8 explains how we obtain this power: “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

12

CHAPTER FOUR: EUROPE AND CHRISTIANITY 4.1

Definition of Christianity Christianity is a religious based upon the teachings, beliefs, and practices of Jesus of Nazareth who they called, “Christ” according to the scriptures in: Matthew 1:16 “And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.” When the fullness of time came that Jesus would be revealed to mankind, He revealed himself to Simon Peter in: Matthew 16:13-17 “When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Phillipi, he asked his disciples, saying, whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.” The effectual works of Jesus began with him working Miracles in Cana of Galilee according to: John 2:11 “This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.”

4.2

Historicals of Christianity (origin) Christianity began with Jesus and his apostles. Twelve disciples of Jesus Christ were commissioned to do a great work for the Lord Jesus Christ in: Matthew 10:1-20 “And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease. Now the names of the twelve apostles are these: The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philip, and 13

Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus; Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him. These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as ye go, preach, saying, the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses, nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat. And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence. And when ye come into a house, salute it. And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet. Verily I say unto you, it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city. Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves; be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues; And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles. But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.” 4.2.1 Historicals of Christianity in Europe Christianity is the largest religion in Europe. Christianity has been practiced in Europe since the first century, and a few of the Pauline Epistles were addressed to Christian living in Greece, as well as other parts of the Roman Empire. (Wikipedia). Paul preached his first sermon in Antioch: Acts 13:16 “Then Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, Men of Israel, and ye that fear God, give audience.” Acts 13:42-49 “And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath. Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking 14

to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God. And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God. But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming. Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, it was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles. For so hath the Lord commanded us, [saying], I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth. And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed. And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region.”

4.3

Persecution of the Church in Europe The religious persecution that drove settlers from Europe to the British North American colonies sprang forth from the conviction, held by Protestants and Catholics alike, that uniformity of religion must exist in any given society. This began in: Acts 13:50-52 “But the Jews stirred up the devout and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts. But they shook off the dust of their feet against them and came unto Iconium. And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.”

4.4

Institutionalisation of the Church in Europe The analysis of the history of the institutionalization of the church in Europe and a subsequent secularization of its cultural space justify the fact that just the elaboration of the strategy of the church and state interaction led to the situation that Christian cultural values, remaining in many respects a meaningful constant of the European culture, arrange their clerical nature and successfully integrate into the secular cultural landscape. (researchgate.net) To clarify, Institutionalization: the action of establishing something as a convention or norm in an organization or culture. Specifically in religion it is a place where belief systems and rituals are systematically arranged and formally established. The Roman Empire officially adopted Christianity in AD 380. During the Early Middle Ages, most of Europe underwent Christianization, a process essentially complete with the Baltic Christianization in the 15th century.

15

Then Paul bringing in the church structures and European Popes and Bishops further institutionalising it with too many structures until the church lost it spiritual vibrance and stiffled the leading voice and guidance of the Spirit of God. The church became man- made with rules and regulations of man as an institution with written prayers and liturgy killing the authority, grace and power that Jesus gave to all Christians. The Apostle Paul began institutionalizing the church in: Acts 14:23 “And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.”

16

CHAPTER FIVE: MISSIONS AND EVANGELISM IN THE EUROPEAN CONTEXT 5.1

Missions and Evangelism in Europe Europe critically needs more Christian Missionaries and Evangelists to make new Disciples. (team.org) Even as a prisoner of the Lord, the Apostle Paul dictates order for the development of new disciples for Christ in: Ephesians 4:1-32 “I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. [There is] one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who [is] above all, and through all, and in you all. But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Wherefore he saith, when he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we [henceforth] be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, [and] cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, [even] Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. But ye have not so learned Christ; If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according 17

to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil. Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with [his] hands the thing, which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.” 5.2.1 Catholicism in Europe (Italy) Catholicism is the faith, practice, and church order of the Roman Catholic Church. Which also includes adherence to the forms of Christian doctrine and practice which are generally regarded as Catholic rather than Protestant or Eastern Orthodox. Thus, Catholicism refers to a community of persons (the human dimension), who believe in God and shape their lives according to that belief (the religious dimension), who believe that God to be triune, and Jesus Christ to be the Son of God and the redeemer of humankind (the Christian dimension). Catholicism is very much part of the warp and weft of Italian life, as an inevitable social, cultural, and political force that Italians take for granted. Catholicism still has a near religious monopoly in Italy. (catholicsandcultures.org) 5.3

Pentecostal and Charismatic movements in Europe The Pentecostal and Charismatic movement now comprises nearly one third of the whole of the global Christian population. Pentecostalism spread from the north of Europe and fared during two horrific wars and under communist dictatorships. (European Pentecostalism – www.brill.com)

5.4

Mentality of the European on Religion The mentality of the European on religion has been greatly influenced by today’s society and is noted as Christianity being the largest religion in Europe. After preaching the Gospel, the Apostle Paul found out firsthand what was the Mentality of the European on religion as it is written in: 18

Acts 26:19-32 “Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision: But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and [then] to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance. For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple and went about to kill [me]. Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come: That Christ should suffer, [and] that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles. And as he thus spake for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee mad. But he said,I am not mad, most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and soberness. For the king knoweth of these things before whom also I speak freely: for I am persuaded that none of these things are hidden from him;for this thing was not done in a corner. King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest. Then Agrippa said unto Paul, almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian. And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds. And when he had thus spoken, the king rose up, and the governor, and Bernice, and they that sat with them: And when they were gone aside, they talked between themselves, saying, This man doeth nothing worthy of death or of bonds. Then said Agrippa unto Festus, this man might have been set at liberty, if he had not appealed unto Caesar.” 5.5

Obstructions, frustrations, and impediments in Missions in Europe Some of the Obstructions in Missions in Europe are that some lack the ability to evangelize because they lack formal education or knowledge about the Bible and Evangelism methods. Although some people do not really lack ability at all but have a poor self-image therefore it is difficult for them to present themselves in front of people. Others also have false humility and that also makes it difficult for them to go out and evangelize. (UBCS, Evangelism I) Some of the Frustrations in Missions in Europe are that some believers do not even know that they should evangelize. They think it is the duty of the Pastor or the Evangelist to win the lost. Therefore, they do not nothing about it. Some of the Impediments in Missions in Europe are a lack of concern or selfishness which keeps many Christians from Evangelizing. They are so concerned about themselves they do not see the lost. Some fear they will be rejected by those to who they witness. If they 19

are not familiar with evangelistic methods, they fear the unknown. They are afraid they will be embarrassed by a situation they cannot handle or a question they cannot answer. Therefore, the obstructions, frustrations, and impediments in Missions in Europe are contingent upon the lack of faith and belief in a pre-existing God who has written 66 books of explicit instructions to those who have been called to the work of Missions in Europe. John 20:31 “But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.”

20

CHAPTER SIX: ANALYSIS OF MISSIONS AND EVANGELISM The Apostle Paul writes his analysis of Missions and Evangelism as he charges his sons in the faith, Timothy & Titus. Unfortunately, this is what I feel is lacking in the 21st Century. There are not many Senior Leaders or Fathers in the Gospel that remain who are willing to help or mentor those that have been assigned to End-Time Missions and Evangelism understand their call and responsibilities to be successful in Missions and Evangelism. One may have a desire or zeal to do the work of Missions and Evangelism but may lack the wisdom as to how to implement the task at hand. This ought not to be so, because technically, our instructions on how to execute the tasks of Missions and Evangelism is written throughout the Bible. Even though one may not have a Mentor or Teacher, the Bible was written for our Instruction. Proverbs 9:9 “Give [instruction] to a wise [man], and he will be yet wiser: teach a just [man], and he will increase in learning.” 2 Timothy 3:16 “All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” Notwithstanding, I am inclined to believe that a portion of the problem can sometimes be that some become lazy and don’t want to read the instructions outlined in the bible. The prophet Moses wrote the first five books of the Bible known as the Pentateuch. It was written to give guidance to people about how they can live their lives in the way God would be pleased. The Bible from the beginning to the end has always served as what I call, “An Instructional Manual of Life”. In keeping with the emphasis of the Apostle Paul, who is known to be one of the greatest Apostolic Diplomats of Missions and Evangelism, I submit to you that he alone is responsible for writing the Books of I and II Timothy as well as the Book of Titus.

21

In my opinion, his main focus in his books were his meticulous outlines and detailing of the responsibilities of those servants of God who desire to do the work of the Lord. He articulates not only the responsibility of the servant of God, who desires to do Missions and Evangelism; he also instructs, in detail, the type of lifestyle that is necessary to represent Christ while doing the work of Missions and Evangelism. In my analysis of Missions and Evangelism, I write from 42-years in Ministry. 25 years of which have been my Full-Time Career working to facilitate Missions and Evangelism. I began dedicating my Ministry service to Missions and Evangelism in 1988 and continue until this day. What I have observed from a European perspective is from time to time many servants of God recognize that it is a great task to undertake Missions and Evangelism. However, in my observation, oftentimes, when someone is called or assigned to Missions and Evangelism and perhaps, they see someone else doing what it is they desire; instead of waiting on God to cultivate their ministry and craft, they seem to do whatever it takes to advance themselves prior to being equipped, then after a process of time, they soon become exhausted and abort the Mission and Evangelism task. It is for this reason, that I refer to the scripture of instruction found in: Romans 12:3-8 “For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So, we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. Having then GIFTS differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Or MINISTRY, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.” It is for this reason, I submit to you that in order to be successful in Missions and Evangelism, one must first of all, be clear in understanding their CALL to the Ministry of Missions and Evangelism. Once you have received your CALL then you must WAIT for God to give you an assignment. In most cases, you receive your GIFT to operate and serve the Body of Christ either at your Natural Birth or at your Spiritual New Birth. Notwithstanding, God gives GIFTS first, then you receive your CALL/ASSIGNMENT.

22

Ephesians 4:7-16 “But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the GIFT of Christ. Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave GIFTS unto men. (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God,unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we [henceforth] be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, [and] cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, [even] Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.” Romans 11:29 “For the GIFTS and CALLING of God are without repentance.” Although I have been gifted with many God-given Gifts and Talents…one thing I know is that I am CALLED to be an EVANGELIST! Our ASSIGNMENTS may change throughout the course of time, but our CALL of God never changes! Beyond the shadow of doubt, one thing that I know about myself is that without question unapologetically, I am CALLED to be an “Evangelist”. 1 Corinthians 7:20-24 “Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was CALLED. Art thou CALLED [being] a servant? care not for it: but if thou mayest be made free, use [it] rather. For he that is called in the Lord, [being] a servant, is the Lord's freeman: likewise, also he that is CALLED, [being] free, is Christ's servant. Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men. Brethren, let every man, wherein he is CALLED, therein abide with God.” 2 Peter 1:10 “Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:” So, in order to give an accurate analysis of Missions and Evangelism, we must understand the origin of the assignment. I submit to you that the origin of Missions and Evangelism stems from receiving a CALL from God. With the CALL of God comes the EQUIPPING of God. 23

God will give you the ANOINTING to operate in the Gift whereby you are assigned to. One of my first Mentors was one of the most sought-after Evangelist in Christendom, The late Honorable Bishop Dr. Iona E. Locke, she once said it like this: “You need to have an ANOINTING for the AUTHORITY to operate in the office you are called to.” Acts 1:8 “But ye shall receive POWER, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” (POWER: Exousia – the Authority to operate) I am convinced that those in whom God CALLS to Missions and Evangelism must have had some type of supernatural experience. It starts with a hunger or craving for God and to do His Work. Matthew 5:6 “Blessed [are] they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” If you are going to embark upon the task of Missions and Evangelism, you must know beyond a shadow of doubt that God has CALLED you to do a great work for Him. Remember, God CALLED Moses and Moses assigned Aaron and his sons to operate in the Priest’s office. Then God EQUIPPED Aaron and his sons for the Service/Work of the Lord. With the CALL of GOD comes the ANOINTING of GOD: Exodus 28:40-41 “And for Aaron’s sons thou shalt make coats, and thou shalt make for them girdles, and bonnets shalt thou make for them, for glory and for beauty. And thou shalt put them upon Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him; and shalt ANOINT them, and CONSECRATE them, and SANCTIFY them, that they may minister unto me in the Priest’s office.” When God CALLED David to be King, He also EQUIPPED him to operate in the office whereby he was called. David also was ANOINTED for the Service of the Lord.

24

I Samuel 9:16 “Tomorrow about this time I will send thee a man out of the land of Benjamin, and thou shalt ANOINT him [to be] captain over my people Israel, that he may save my people out of the hand of the Philistines: for I have looked upon my people, because their cry is come unto me.” I Samuel 16:12-13 “And he sent, and brought him in. Now he (David) [was] ruddy, [and] withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the LORD said, Arise, ANOINT him: for this [is] he. Then Samuel took the horn of oil and ANOINTED him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.” I would like to think that the psalmist David described the day of his ANOINTING/Consecration Service in: Psalms 133:1-3 “Behold, how good and how pleasant [it is] for brethren to dwell together in unity! [It is] like the precious OINTMENT upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, [even] Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; As the dew of Hermon, [and as the dew] that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, [even] life for evermore.” When God CALLED Elisha…he had a supernatural experience: 1 Kings 19:15-16 “And the LORD said unto him (Elijah), Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest, ANOINT Hazael [to be] king over Syria: And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou ANOINT [to be] king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abelmeholah shalt thou ANOINT [to be] prophet in thy room.” 1 Kings 19:19 “So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who [was] plowing [with] twelve yoke [of oxen] before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him.”

When God CALLED the Apostle Paul…he also had a supernatural experience: Acts 9:1-20 “And Saul yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest, And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem. 25

And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: [it is] hard for thee to kick against the pricks. And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord [said] unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do. And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man. And Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw no man: but they led him by the hand and brought [him] into Damascus. And he was three days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink. And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I [am here], Lord. And the Lord [said] unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for [one] called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth, and hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting [his] hand on him, that he might receive his sight. Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem: And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name. But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake. And Ananias went his way and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, [even] Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost. And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized. And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus. And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.” These all signify the importance of having a CALLED to Missions and Evangelism. I am convinced that it is what separates the successful with unsuccessful. It also makes a better analysis of Missions and Evangelism by understanding the individual CALL. Not only so, but I also submit that it is imperative that one have an ANOINTING to do the Work of Missions and Evangelism. As Jesus embarked upon His CALL to Missions and Evangelism, He declared: Luke 4:18-19 “The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he hath ANOINTED me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of the sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.” 26

The Prophet Isaiah declared: Isaiah 10:27 “And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the ANOINTING.” The Apostle Paul reminisced in: Acts 10:38 “How God ANOINTED Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with POWER, who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” Therefore, in my analysis of Missions and Evangelism, I believe that The ANOINTING with the CALL of God will cause men and women to do exploits. Daniel 11:32b “…but the people that do know their God shall be strong and do exploits.” In the words of Kenneth Copeland, we need that burden-removing; yoke destroying ANOINTING of the Living God in order to fulfill the task of Missions and Evangelism. On the contrary, The Bible shows us what happens when you are not fully equipped to carry out the Mission. Matthew 17:14-21 “And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a [certain] man, kneeling down to him, and saying, Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water. And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me. And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.” Notice what happened, the man said that he brought his lunatic son to the disciples, and they could not cure him. “Thank God” for his perseverance. The man had more faith than the disciples and was not leaving without his son being delivered. 27

Therefore, I further submit to you that not only do you need to be clear on your CALL and ANOINTED for your assignment; you must also have FAITH in order to obtain the results. Hebrews 11:1 “Now FAITH is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Habakkuk 2:4 “Behold, his soul [which] is lifted up is not upright in him:but the just shall live by his FAITH.” Matthew 21:21 “Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have FAITH, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this [which is done] to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.” In the Book of James, we are presented with a clear purview of our posture concerning FAITH: James 1:1-8 “James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting. My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations, Knowing [this], that the trying of your FAITH worketh patience. But let patience have [her] perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all [men] liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in FAITH, nothing wavering.” So, as we consider the analysis of Missions and Evangelism with conclude that we: 1. Need a CALL to do the work of Missions and Evangelism. 2. Need an ANOINTING to operate in the authority of Missions and Evangelism. 3. Must have unwavering FAITH. For those that may now be in a quandary because they are unsure of having a CALL to Missions and Evangelism, they may not have yet received an ANOINTING for the task of Missions and Evangelism; therefore, their FAITH may in fact be wavering. God has not forgotten about those that have a zeal, but no CALL/ASSIGNMENT/ANOINTING for the work of Missions and Evangelism. He included the zealous if he can hear the clarion CALL of God in: 28

Acts 1:8 “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” After you receive the Holy Ghost, you shall be witnesses for Jesus which qualifies those that have a zeal to win souls for the Lord Jesus Christ. They in turn should strive to work alongside those who are CALLED to Missions and Evangelism.

29

CHAPTER SEVEN: CONCLUSION I will end this written research work by expressing how Missions and Evangelism has gone down and must be undertaken in Europe with a Global Mission to Evangelize. I would like to recommend that we seek to implement and provide further increased teaching and training on the Protocols while ministering in Missions and Evangelism. Matthew 28:19-20 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.” For the past 42 years, I have been vigorously preparing people for Kingdom preparation on a world-wide stage sparing no opportunity to touch and save lives. I have received so many testimonies of individuals who have already been healed, delivered, and released from bondage and oppression. The ministry of Missions and Evangelism is ever evolving. Missions and Evangelism must be undertaken in Europe through accurate teaching while winning souls for the Lord Jesus Christ. I would like to make mention of a conversation presently being had on social media by a Christian Group of Millennials since the onset of the Global pandemic discussing the topic of the “End-Time” Revival. They were opposed to its reality as it is not mentioned in the Bible. Well, for the record, I beg to differ based upon the Holy Writ: John 21:25 “And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen” Our forefathers spoke to us by inspiration of the Holy Ghost: II Peter 1:21 “For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake [as they were] moved by the Holy Ghost.” Joel 2:23-32 “Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the 30

latter rain in the first [month]. And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the fats shall overflow with wine and oil. And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed. And ye shall know that I [am] in the midst of Israel, and [that] I [am] the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed. And it shall come to pass afterward, [that] I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come. And it shall come to pass, [that] whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.” Acts 19:10-17 “And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks. And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them. Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth. And there were seven sons of [one] Sceva, a Jew, [and] chief of the priests, which did so. And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.” 1 Corinthians 9:13-27 “Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live [of the things] of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar? Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel. But I have used none of these things: neither have I written these things, that it should be so done unto me: for [it were] better for me to die, than that any man should make my glorying void. For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel! For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation [of the gospel] is committed unto me. What is my reward then? [Verily] that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel. For 31

though I be free from all [men], yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more. And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all [men], that I might by all means save some. And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with [you]. Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they [do it] to obtain a corruptible crown; but we incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so, fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring [it] into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.” When we attempt to perform analysis of Missions and Evangelism in the European context, we must acknowledge and understand that there is a necessity to blend the history of the Christian Church as we have known it with modern day technology. Never taking away the Apostolic Doctrine but simply moving with the times. In keeping, we must learn how to communicate to our present generation. It has been my focus to bring the Europeans into a wealth of knowledge from a renewed perspective of operating in Missions and Evangelism through the preaching and teaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Therefore, bringing about an awakening of a new sense of conviction on how-to do Missions and Evangelism that is beyond tradition. Amen.” Another observation I would like to make is that I have concluded that there is a great necessity to connect with either a Team of Missionaries/Evangelists or a Covenant Partner in Ministry in order to be effective. We must prepare for the Harvest of Souls in this End-Time. Matthew 9:37 “Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly [is] plenteous, but the labourers [are] few.”

32

In my conclusion, please permit me to highlight a perfect example of a Ministry Team for Missions and Evangelism. John 21:1-8 “After these things Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and on this wise shewed he [himself]. There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the [sons] of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples. Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing. But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus. Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No. And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes. Therefore, that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt [his] fisher's coat [unto him], (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea. And the other disciples came in a little ship; (for they were not far from land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the net with fishes.” Did you notice? The incredible Team that God had chosen to accomplish the task for Missions and Evangelism in a European context! Let us take a closer look at this incredible Team for Missions and Evangelism. First, you have ‘The Leader’: Simon whom they called ‘Peter’. Matthew 16:16-19 “And Simon Peter answered and said,Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed [it] unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” Then the next person identified on the team was: ‘Thomas’ called Didymus (The Twin): He knew the effectiveness of covenant relationship… (being your brother’s keeper.) John 11:16 “Then said Thomas, which is called Didymus, unto his fellow disciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.”

33

Then strategically placed on the Missions and Evangelism Team was ‘Nathanael’ of Cana of Galilee: John 2:11 “This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.” God then saw fit to place the preachers on the Missions and Evangelism Team: the Sons of Zebedee: ‘James and John’, known as The Sons of Thunder because of their artistic ability to Preach! Mark 3:17 “And James the [son] of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder,” And lastly, there were ‘Two other disciples’… the Bible did not see fit to identify their names. They were no-name, background people that just loved Jesus and therefore followed him. Matthew 8:23 “And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.” So as you can see, there were Seven (7) brothers placed strategically on the Missions and Evangelism Team: 1) Simon whom they called Peter 2) Thomas called Didymus (The Twin) 3) Nathanael of Cana of Galilee (May have attended the Marriage in Cana where Jesus turned Water to Wine… he could have been a cupbearer… one in whom helped to fill the water pots to the brim…) 4) The sons of Zebedee (The sons of Thunder): James 5) The sons of Zebedee (The sons of Thunder): John (he in whim Jesus loved) 6) Two other disciples (No named Witness) 7) Two other disciples (No named Witness) The analysis here is that first of all, you have to Be ready or Be prepared for the CALL in order to be a successful Team Player in Missions and Evangelism. The bible says that it was Peter that initially heard the CALL of GOD to go fishing. After receiving the CALL to Missions and 34

Evangelism, Peter announced to those that were present and said, “I go a fishing!” Those that were waiting for The CALL said to Peter, “We also go with thee!” (They knew and remembered Peter’s Gift…He was given the Keys to The Kingdom of God, so I surmise that they sensed that something supernaturally may take place while Peter is fishing, and they did not want to miss it!) So, they went forth with Peter and entered into a ship immediately! What they did not know was that by responding to The Call to The Ministry of Missions and Evangelism that it would catapult them to another dimension in the work of The Lord. In my conclusion, I would like to suggest and recommend that once you have receive a Call to the Missions and Evangelism, you must understand that God would not have called you unless He has already made you ready to operate in your God-given Gift. Once the brethren responded to The Call to Missions and Evangelism and boarded the ship, they should have rehearsed the following: 1. What Ministry Gift do you have to offer to the work of Missions and Evangelism? 2. Do you have the strength to do the work of Missions and Evangelism? 3. Do you have the wisdom to do the ministry of Missions and Evangelism? 4. Do you have the courage to do the ministry of Missions and Evangelism? 5. Do you have the OIL to do the work of Missions and Evangelism? 6. Do you have an ANOINTING to operate in the Office of Missions and Evangelism? 7. Are you ready to be used by God in an unorthodox way? (The Ministry of Missions and Evangelism sometimes call for being spontaneous.) God will strategically place you in position to work in Missions and Evangelism, but you must develop a strategy to operate in order to be successful. 1. God has a plan for your life: that’s why He called you to serve in ministry. 2. God chooses who you are to be in relationship within order to fulfil your calling. 3. God expects you to prioritize your prayers to him while you are preparing to be used by Him. (You must stay in Direct Communication with God) 4. Your Prayer Life is important as you embark upon the ministry of Missions and Evangelism. God is looking for people to impact and transform lives globally as you attempt to leave a legacy of empowering people to be saved. Don’t be afraid to allow God to use you. If you have endured struggles, faced challenges, or experienced setbacks, endured obstacles including disappointment, 35

hurt, discouragement, loss, trauma, pain, hopelessness, depression, or anything that was meant to break you, but you pressed through, you are now ready to be used by God. I often tell people that ‘Ministry is Driven’ by personality! (You can be the greatest teacher, but you could be better with more personality.) The challenge with this dynamic hand-picked Team for Missions and Evangelism is that they lacked Vision. Proverbs 29:18 “Where [there is] no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy [is] he.” Peter had a perfect team; however, it was not his vision. Remember, he wanted to go Fishing by himself! Because he did not plan for anyone to join him, he had no strategy for the task of going Fishing! Notwithstanding, if you and I are going to be successful in accomplishing the task of Missions and Evangelism we must be able to operate even without the direct guidance of the leader of the team. Let me refresh the scenario for you: § Peter is told by John (John 21:7ab) that it was Jesus that had revealed himself and Jesus gave instruction for the task of catching Fish (John 21:6abc). Instead of Peter taking the lead, he aborted the task: the bible says that the Leader and the one with the Keys to the Kingdom, Peter cast himself into the sea! (John 21:7c-f) § Thomas was a twin and was a master in ‘Covenant Relationship’ and should have spoken up and explain to the others that there is a more Excellent way to catch Fish, it is called ‘Covenant Relationship. But Thomas did not speak up and reveal his gift to the Team. § Nathanael was a part of the team and was of Cana of Galilee which is an indication that he may have attended the Marriage in Cana where Jesus worked his first Miracle and turned Water to Win. He may have been a cupbearer which would have been one who followed the instruction of Jesus’ mother, Mary and helped to fill the water pots to the brim. He could have been an asset in this team for Missions and Evangelism, however, he did not speak up either! (When God puts us on platforms, we must speak up and bring our gift, our knowledge to the table so that we can be an excellent Team Player.) § James and John were brothers, they were the sons of Zebedee; better known as “The sons of Thunder because of their Preaching. However, on this assignment they were muzzled 36

and did not lift their voices to add their gift to the team. Hence, they were not successful as prolific in the scriptures they may have been. When it was time to perform, the were quiet. § Two other disciples who had not only followed Jesus but followed the commandments of Jesus, were the ones that were the most valuable Team Players. We may not know their names, they may have not been as popular as the other renown Team Players, but they knew their assignment. They were not even on the VIP boat; they came in a little ship carrying the Harvest! What made them successful was that they remembered the teachings of Jesus and how that Jesus taught in order to be successful in Missions and Evangelism, you need to understand ‘Covenant Relationship’: Luke 10:1 “After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.” This summarizes my analysis of Missions and Evangelism from a European perspective. This team was diversified intentionally and would have been most effective if all team players were in communication with each other, therefore, creating the uniformity of an excellent team. They all had gifts and they all had been hand-selected by God to participate in this great Harvest of Fish, but they lacked the wisdom, knowledge and understanding how to operate in the End-Time Ministry of Missions and Evangelism. Hebrews 5:12 “For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which [be] the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.” Over the past several years... The Body of Christ has advanced to another dimension especially since experiencing the travesty of a Global pandemic. Of a surety, we are absolutely now living in another dimension which explains to some the unfamiliar challenges we now face inasmuch as we have finally entered into the last or permit me to say...the end of the last days.... It is for this reason that (GOD gives us access) we have access & can now proceed to the Next Level which brings us to the era of the fulfillment of all things promised. Romans 8:18-19,22 “For I reckon that he sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the 37

manifestation of the sons of God. For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now” As we have studied Evangelism from the UBCS, I wanted to end this Thesis on the “Analysis of Missions and Evangelism with a European Context” quoting the teachings on Evangelism in the studies from the UBCS which I recommend be implemented to all that read this dissertation. Although, we understand that the call to evangelism is not an option or a suggestion. It is a mandate. The scriptural reason for involvement in evangelism is because it is a mandate from the Lord Jesus Christ. The mandate of Evangelism is first based on the principle of command. Evangelism is commanded by Jesus in several passages that have come to be known as the “Great Commission”: Matthew 28:19-20 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.” Mark 16:15-18 “Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues. They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” These are a few highlights taken from the UBCS Evangelism Course: Evangelism must have priority within a local Church. We must put the task of getting the Gospel to every person in the world in the first place. Our preaching, praying, studying, planning, programming, teaching, training—everything must center around this objective, Evangelism. § All the activities of the Church must contribute directly towards mobilizing soul winners. Church leaders must become mobilizers of the Body of Christ, inspiring and training believers to do the work of Evangelism. § Evangelism is the communication of the Gospel through the power of the Holy Spirit so people can accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. The gospel is the good news that must be shared with everyone in a way that leads people to accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Evangelism is a process that includes the Presence of God and Proclamation of the Gospel, Persuasion, Planting, Perfection and Participation. 38
