“Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” II Peter 1:4 www.thechurchofjesuschrist-notmormon.com -Page 3-

Be Renewed Ephesians 4:23-24 says, “And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.” We sing a song from Psalms 51 that asks to “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” From the Old Testament to the New we must become a new creature (II Corinthians 5:17, Galatians 6:15). How do we have a clean heart and a right spirit today? First, let’s make sure we know what heart we are talking about. Matthew 15:1720, verse 19 says, “For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:” All these things come from our mind. The heart He is talking about is our mind. The organ in our chest is just a blood pumper. In our mind is where spirits dwell that bring forth these different actions. Read I Corinthians chapter 2 to see how things are revealed to us. We are not born with this new heart (mind), so we have to put it on by adding His Spirit and being obedient to it. Ezekiel 18:30-31 will match up with our Ephesians 4:22-24. Verse 31, “Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel?” Also read Ezekiel 36:26-27. We must put on this new man through His Word and Spirit by the example that Jesus Christ left us as He walked on Earth. Philippians 2:5 says, “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.” For us to be able to put on the mind of Christ we must refer back to the beginning. Ezekiel and Ephesians both tell us that we must stop living the life the way we are currently living. Put off the old man which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts. Another good scripture we mentioned earlier is II Corinthians 5:17. The scriptures are clear. When we come to Jesus Christ, we must cast aside our old ways. We must replace the spirits in our mind with the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost can guide you in every aspect of your life. When it talks to you in your mind, you must be obedient.

Once we get the Holy Ghost, what do we do to keep ourselves clean? St. John 17:17 says, “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” Now we need to take His Word combined with the Holy Ghost to reveal the things in our life that need to be cleaned out and don’t belong. God will reveal them to us (Philippians 3:15). Don’t think that people act the way they do because they don’t know. Everyone of us has had God speak to us in our mind. He moves our conscience to direct us in the right way. If we obey it and change then it helps us to clean out spots and wrinkles in our life. In Ephesians 5:26-27 Paul tells us that there is going to be a church without spot or wrinkle or any such thing. Our job is to use the tools and knowledge to overcome the spirits that come in our mind that go against Jesus Christ’s teachings. Today is the day that we must create a clean heart and renew a right spirit within us. We have His Spirit and His Word to make it happen. If you don’t have the Holy Ghost seek it and find it. Do what God is telling you in your mind. When you work to be righteous, there will be options that will be placed in your way to try and confuse you. These spirits are working to deceive you and draw you away from the path of righteousness. Keep the instructions that God has given you; don’t listen to any other options. If you need the Holy Ghost start today with a plan to get it. For us to be the children of God we must be led by His Spirit (Romans 8:14). Replace the spirits in your life with the righteous spirits of God. The Holy Ghost will not lead you in a wrong direction. Get on the path of righteousness to be a new creature for God. Don’t be afraid of where the Holy Ghost wants you to go or do. It is leading you to more righteousness, trust it.

The Strong Delusion Praise the Lord everyone in the precious name of Jesus Christ. Recently, a question was asked in church about being led by strong delusions. When we think on things like this it’s easy to think about it in terms of the “other guy.” It might be uncomfortable, but it’s more important to look at this subject from the perspective of what would it look like if it was me and how can I prevent it from being me. First, let’s understand what a delusion is so we can all be on the same page as we talk about it. Delusion – a false or incorrect belief that is strongly held even when presented with superior evidence to the contrary. When we read in the Bible about being led by delusions, not only does it talk about them but it also tells us what will bring them forth. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations. I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not. (1) Did you notice as you read this that God (Spirit) never forced any belief or delusion on anyone. In fact, the delusion or false belief never even came into play until this group chose the way they wanted to go and refused to listen to the instructions of what was being told them. It’s not that they didn’t know the way or that they didn’t or couldn’t hear. The delusion happens when “I” have a belief that “I” do not want to let go of. When “I” have a belief that “I” do not want to let go of, even when there is other evidence to show what “I” believe isn’t right, that is when my mind opens to the delusion and the evidence to support what “I” believe. Do you think that’s why examining ourselves is so important? How much time is spent talking, teaching, and believing how “we are right” and “they are not” instead of the ministry teaching the congregants on how to examine themselves to recognize the difference between the spirits and beliefs of the Word and Spirit and the spirits and beliefs that lead us astray from the Word and Spirit in our everyday lives? If we are to save yourselves from this untoward generation we must recognize where the untoward generation lives in us and overcome it. (2) If you’re not sure how important it is to do this, read Revelation chapter 2, 3, 21:7 and I Corinthians 15:50. www.thechurchofjesuschrist-notmormon.com -Page 6-

The New Testament also teaches of delusions. And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish: because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie. That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. (3) These verses tell us why the delusion comes, how the delusion comes and what the end result of living and believing the delusion will bring forth. What can we do to keep from being led by delusions? And herein do I exercise myself, to have a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men. (4) Instead of the ministry talking, teaching and believing how “we are right” and “they are wrong” why don’t they instead teach how to calm my mind down, recognize what is working and motivating me and show me how to live with a conscience void of offence toward God and toward men? (4) Is your minister living that way? Do you want to? You see, if you want to be renewed in the spirit of your mind and live with a clear conscience, you are going to have to face and admit all of the places where you are currently NOT living with a renewed spirit, mind or a clear conscience. How many are willing to admit and face this when “examining ourselves” is being taught? Are these the things that are taught and you think about when “submit yourselves” is brought forth? I cannot accept “submit yourselves” without also accepting where I am currently NOT being submissive. Is that really true? …that I cannot accept one without the other? Not really. It’s only true if I want to be honest and face the things that are against God’s Word and Spirit in my life. If I don’t want to be honest with and face the things that are in my life that need to be overcome there are any number of delusions I can believe and live according to. What parent is it that you will prove you are a child of? Co-Pastor Aaron Miller

Don’t Wonder/Know It Praise the Lord everyone in the precious name of Jesus Christ. As was our summer, so is our fall beginning its beauty. These past months have taken Bro. Danny and Sis. Marlene Walls’ spirits back to the Lord. It was a joy that they were all part of our lives. People have long debated on whether we can become “perfect” in this human body and what is considered “perfect” in the sight of Jesus Christ. To not know that each has been called to put on immortality while still alive in this natural body brings a great hindrance in succeeding for spiritual salvation. Just as Paul spoke to the churches of the New Testament in his day, he tells you and I to be filled with the knowledge of his (Lord’s) will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. (1) Now, why would the Lord ever stress His will if we could never become perfect in His will? Paul told the Philippians, But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (2) We, as the human side, put too much dependance on what the flesh side can do. The gospel does not teach us the flesh holds more power and capability than the side of God’s spiritual actions and words. For whatsoever is born of God (Spirit) overcometh the world. (3) Today, whether we speak of faith, flesh or spirits, we can be born of an incorruptible Word and Spirit where nothing can stop us from being perfect in Jesus Christ. The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master. (4) And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (5) Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. (6) Ezekiel was told, of the Lord, about the people that I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them…and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God. I will also save you from all your uncleannesses: and I will call for the corn, and will increase it, and lay no famine upon you. (7) Don’t you believe God (the Spirit) will give us ALL the same Spirit and heart today? Jesus said, If a man (or woman) love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. (8) At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. (9) www.thechurchofjesuschrist-notmormon.com -Page 8-

Surely the Spirit is making us realize that the natural Jew and all Gentiles have been given the same ability to have a new heart and an uncorrupted mind to fulfill complete salvation and stand in perfection as ONE. The New Testament makes no division on saints being men and women, for there is no man or woman in heaven. Paul, Peter and the rest left off from dividing the men and the women, as it pertained to the saints, because they knew that EVERYONE must put on the same mind and spirit of Christ. If the spirits of the flesh can keep us distracted from knowing where the flesh stops and the spiritual begins to fulfill full righteousness, we will never succeed in knowledge and understanding. If we fail in this, the Spirit that has been given for bringing all things to our remembrance, teach all things (in past, present and future) and live in peace will end up being left for the generation willing to see and do. To argue with the spirits of the flesh is everyone’s choice. Every time someone says that we can’t be perfect in Christ Jesus and we can’t be perfect in body while living on the earth, I understand why they do not mortify the deeds of the body. Whether you see me as woman, man, male or female, Paul tells us We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the day of salvation.) (10) Pastor Elaine Miller

Are We Obedient? II Samuel 22:1-3, “And David spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul: And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.” I Chronicles 5:20, “And they were helped against them, and the Hagarites were delivered into their hand, and all that were with them: for they cried to God in the battle, and he was entreated of them: because they put their trust in him.” Psalms 2:12, “Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.” Proverbs 3:5, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” Proverbs 29:25, “The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.” Matthew 12:21, “And in his name shall the Gentiles trust.” Romans 15:12, “And again, Esaias saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust.” Acts 5:29, “Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.” Romans 2:8-9, “But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;” Colossians 3:22, “Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eye-service, as men-pleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:”

II Thess. 1:7-8, “And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:” II Thess. 3:14, “And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.” Hebrews 5:9, “And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;” Romans 2:8, “But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,” Romans 2:9, “Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;” If we are disobedient, we will pay the price.

Castaway Praise the Lord everyone in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ. As we see the natural growing season for summer vegetables and fruits coming to an end and fall colors starting to appear harvest time has been and is already here. And this scripture, “Save yourselves from this untoward generation” (Acts 2:40) has been on my mind. By the Spirit of Truth that transcends time & space, those words Peter said many years ago are still with us through the seasons, generations, and peoples. It is still applicable today. For those who can receive the Spirit of Truth, know, read, and understand, what the Spirit has and is saying to all people everywhere, it is our job, vocation, responsibility, duty, to love the Lord with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength (John 6:45; Mar. 12:30). If we will fulfill the first and greatest commandment, we will fulfill Acts 2:38 and continue in the faith, grounded and settled, and anchored in Jesus Christ (Col. 1:23; Heb. 6:19). The words of the Spirit have been written down physically for us to read and remember over and over again (Mal. 3:16). And the spiritual laws of Jesus Christ are written in our spiritual hearts of our minds to listen to –if we will be obedient to receive the Holy Ghost just as the “work of the law [was in the Gentiles] written in their hearts” (Acts 5:32; Ro. 2:15). It is the power of the Holy Ghost that will and does “teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever, I have said unto you.” (St. John 14:26) Those are words of truth for the disciples of old times and for all His disciples today. As we are judged by His Word & Spirit, when the Lord looks in us, are we bringing forth fruit to perfection? (John 12:48; Lu. 8:14; St. John 15:8) Are we glorifying Him as God being thankful? (Ro. 1:21) Or are we producing fruit or works that are undesirable, meant to be bundled, burned, castaway according to Jesus Christ’s standards? (Matt 13:40; Matt.22:13; Matt. 13:48; II Pet. 2:4) Overcoming the lusts of the world, lusts of the flesh, and pride of life is a daily duty (I John 2:15-16; St. John 16:33). I live with myself 24/7 and if I cannot control myself, and overcome, how can I witness or teach others with a clear conscience void of offence? Overcoming in the body I have been allowed to have is a 7 day a week job. Paul shared, “But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.” (I Cor. 9:27) The statement of “read, pray, meditate & obey everyday” with and by the Word & Spirit is the planned approach we have been given from Pastor Elaine Miller to fulfill for ourselves and to share with others so that we do not fulfill being a castaway. “For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosever will lose his life for may sake, the same shall save it. For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?” (Lu.9:24-25) Sis. Sheila www.thechurchofjesuschrist-notmormon.com -Page 14-
