La nascita del Club Nautico Versilia, risale agli anni ’50 e ancora oggi rappresenta un punto di riferimento per il territorio nella promozione di attività sportive e culturali legate al mondo della nautica. La Viareggio-Bastia-Viareggio nacque nel 1962, pochi anni dopo la fondazione del circolo. Il percorso scelto fu la traversata del Tirreno, fra Viareggio e Bastia, quest’ultima principale porto della Corsica orientale, dopo un primo tratto lungo costa fino a Forte dei Marmi. Il 14 luglio 1962 prende il via la prima gara internazionale d’altura (offshore). Per trent›anni è stato il trofeo più ambito per un qualsiasi pilota di categoria. La VBV, trofeo «Elica d’oro», era infatti valevole per il campionato Mondiale Offshore Classe 1. Trent’anni fa, venne instituito il Trofeo Angelo Moratti, valevole per la Coppa del Mondo Offshore, assegnato all›equipaggio che avrebbe compiuto il percorso di gara nel minor tempo.

Club Nautico Versilia, founded in the 50s is still today a reference point for the territory in the promotion of sports and cultural activities related to the world of boating. Viareggio-Bastia-Viareggio was born in 1962, a few years after the foundation of the club. The route chosen was the crossing of the Tyrrhenian Sea, between Viareggio and Bastia, the last main port of eastern Corsica, after a first part along the coast of Forte dei Marmi. On 14 July 1962 the first international offshore race began. For thirty years it was the most coveted trophy for any category driver. The VBV, trophy «Elica d’oro», was valid for the Offshore World C ship Class 1. Thirty years ago, was set up Trofeo Angelo Moratti, valid for the Offshore World Cup, assigned to the crew who would complete the race path in the shortest possible time.

L’idea di far rinascere la mitica VBV nasce un gruppo di amici legati dalla stessa passione per il mare e la vela, Filippo Terzani e i due Armatori del MOMI, il Maxi Yacht di 80’ , Nicola Minardi ed Angelomario Moratti, nipote di Angelo appunto. Oggi la Viareggio/ Bastia/Viareggio, gara offshore motonautica, attraverserebbe il Santuario dei Cetacei, istituito nel 1999, quindi l’idea è stata quella di declinarla in una competizione con una identità eco-sostenibile. A sfidarsi, in occasione del 61° anniversario della prima edizione (1962), nel Classico percorso VBV, saranno infatti Barche a vela della categoria Maxi (oltre 18 metri), per aggiudicarsi l’ambito Trofeo Angelo Moratti. Il Progetto ha riportato nella prima “rinnovata” edizione 2022 una manifestazione da sempre cara ad un territorio da sempre votato al mare e alla nautica, un evento sportivo, di caratura internazionale legato al mondo della vela che ha destato il profondo interesse di professionisti, appassionati e pubblico - coinvolgendoli in una manifestazione che ha richiamato i fasti di un tempo valorizzando al contempo i temi dell’innovazione e dell’ambiente. L’Amministrazione Comunale di Viareggio ha subito aderito con entusiasmo all’iniziativa confermando ancora una volta la sensibilità e l’attenzione rivolta alla promozione dello Sport e al rilancio della cittadina versiliese.

GLI OBIETTIVI

The idea of the return of the legendary VBV comes from a group of friends linked by the passion for the sea and sailing, Filippo Terzani and the two owners of MOMI, the 80’ Maxi Yacht, Nicola Minardi and Angelomario Moratti, nephew of Angelo. Today the Viareggio/Bastia/Viareggio, offshore motonautica race, would cross Cetaceans’ Sanctuary of the Mediterranean Sea, established in 1999, so the idea was to modify it in a competition with an ecosustainable identity. The challenge, on the occasion of the 61 anniversary of the first edition (1962), in the Classic VBV path, will be among sailboats of Maxi category (over 18 meters), to win the Trofeo Angelo Moratti. The Project has reported in the first “renewed” edition 2022 an event that has always been dear to a territory that has always been dedicated to the sea and nautical world, a sporting event of international caliber linked to the world of sailing that has aroused the deep interest of professionals, fans and public involving them in an event that has recalled the splendor of the past while enhancing the themes of innovation and the environment. The Municipal Administration of Viareggio immediately took part enthusiastically to the initiative confirming once again the attention to the promotion of Sport and the relaunch of the town of Versilia.
