Our VIP Story

Our Director Natalie has worked in various care settings over the course of 14 years, supporting people living with dementia, sensory impairments, and disabilities. Her grandmother became ill with dementia. She needed 24-hour support but did not want to go into residential care. Natalie realised that there was very little affordable support in the area to enable her grandmother to remain at home. Although paying for domiciliary care ensured her grandmother was safe and well, she would still be left socially isolated from her friends and her community.

Following specialist dementia training, Natalie developed her idea of a sustainable day care business model with the aim of providing high quality care to individuals to live well with all types of dementia, and Valuing Individual People (VIP) Day Centre was born. VIP Day Centre has now been open 5 days a week for 6 years and expanded into two locations, which has created 14 full time staff positions.

Our centres are designed to value individual people and offer as much support as they need to take part in activities of choice that will improve their quality of life, delay further deterioration of physical and mental health, and ensure Together with knowledge from her own people have a positive and fulfilling personal experience that caring for a family member is often exhausting Natalie experience. became convinced that there was a much-needed call for more support in the We aim to ensure our care is personalised to the needs of the individual through area for people living with dementia and person-centred care plans and that their families especially with many Local Authority Day Centres having been closed individuals are at the heart of the decisionmaking process for the service they down due to lack of funding. receive. The Care Market

When people think of ‘care’ they normally think of care homes. This is no longer the only option, there are many people now deciding to stay at home with help and support from Home Care and Day Centres allowing people to remain part of the community in which they live. VIP Day Centre is a safe and caring centre where people can make friends and renew friendships. Many individuals are impacted by social isolation and lack of mental stimulation. VIP Day Centre is well run and non-institutionalised allowing people to feel part of the community again ensuring that individuals stay mobile and active. VIP can make a huge difference to families and carers as they can have a break from their caring role. It is also great for individuals as they feel part of community again in a supportive environment.

Through the latter half of the 20th Century, the UK population has been steadily getting older and this trend is projected to continue in the future. According to the Office for National Statistics in 2016 there were 11.8 million UK residents aged 65 years and over, representing 18% of the total population. When compared to 25 years before when there were 9.1 million accounting for 15.8% of the population, this is an increase of over 2 million people. Looking ahead another 25 years to 2041, the 1960’s baby boomers (aged in their 50’s now) will have moved into older age and by 2066 there will be a further 8.6 million projected UK residents aged 65 years and over, taking the total number in this group to 20.4 million and making up 26% of the total population.

Financial Information

Based on the experience of VIP Day Centre, we anticipate that as our brand becomes more established, the potential exists to significantly increase revenues. We would expect an established VIP Centre to achieve an operating profit (before franchise owner earnings and finance costs) of at least 30%. Your territory can potentially produce annual revenues in excess of £1,000,000. Please note that we are unable to guarantee any level of financial achievement, as individual franchisee performance will have a significant influence on the success of the franchise. We will work with you to develop a detailed business model for your chosen franchise area. Our Franchise Fee is £30,000 (ex. VAT) with an ongoing royalty fee of 7% (ex. VAT) 2% Marketing levy and 5% Management Fee. There will be an extra charge per month to head office for your own HR system, Central Management system, phone line Wi-Fi and email.

We anticipate that a total minimum investment of £39,000 is required up to a maximum investment of £54,000 which includes working capital and the franchise fee. This franchise will be applicable for a personal loan for business purposes - a Start Up Loan is a government-backed personal loan available to individuals looking to start or grow a business in the UK. In addition to finance, successful applicants receive 12 months of free mentoring and exclusive business offers to help them succeed. The loan is unsecured, so there is no need to put forward any assets or guarantors to support an application. All owners or partners in a business can individually apply for up to £25,000 each, with a maximum of £100,000 available per business.

the leading banks in franchising as well as other franchise finance specialists. They will advise on your borrowing potential as well as how to approach a bank for finance. We offer you the opportunity to put any franchise finance related questions to one of the leading franchise specialists in the UK, who can identify the true cost of buying a franchise, the importance of having a business plan and what should be included in it.

You may also want to reserve additional territories to allow for the growth of the business in your local area. Additional licenses are £30,000. This ensures that you “own” a wider area for when you want to expand the business. This is very important if you are considering opening in a large urban conurbation. Having reserved additional territories, you can then raise further funds when you begin expansion.
