TITLE: THIS IS ME (FOR BETTER OR WORSE) While I was brainstorming, I wondered about the best way to express myself. So I thought that it was best to express what my real character, beyond all the talents and material interests I possess. I jotted down all the possible personality traits that I could express on the paper. While trying to visualize them, I was so surprised myself that I had such contrasting traits in me. So I chose a flower, an animal and a few other elements that had similar traits showing the different sides of me. A black panther, a creature that personally mesmerised me. A fierce stare with its amber eyes can stun you. The black panther is a symbol of pride, aggression, courage, strength, protection, most importantly a solitary power and independence. I have a strong sense of pride and dignity. I tend to be aggressive, thanks to my short temper. I don’t care when I am criticised but I am protective and lose it when my loved ones are. I really prefer solitude and prefer to do things alone. I love silence and mostly avoid any useless gatherings. I don’t open up easily to others. I mostly avoid problems but if I do face any, I will courageously face them head on and I am not afraid to face my fears, even if I am alone without any support. I absolutely despise it when restraints are put on me, especially those nonsensical ideas about women from stereotypical societies. I am fiercely independent and self- reliant, so I don’t like to depend on others mostly. I am an observer and a learner, which is also an important trait of a black panther. A chocolate cosmos flower. It symbolises harmony, peace, love, modesty, innocence, and joy. In contrast to the ‘me’ so far, I am modest and don’t like to show off. I am loving and caring to my close ones, (I am often told that I care for them like a mother). Although I often give some wise life advice to others, I’m annoyingly innocent and a little dumb at times. I am always cheerful and exude joy when I’m with others. I love peace and quiet.

A spider web. It represents creativity and imagination. I capture and live the moment to the fullest. I enjoy every moment of my life with a smile. I am a deep thinker and a daydreamer. My mind is never at rest but always filled with thoughts. Let’s say I build a strong sticky web in my mind. I catch all the dreams and ideas I think of and hold on to them tightly. I then breathe life into them, create my own world, and will be perseverant till the end to make it a reality. Just like the spider, I’m ambitious and I create my own fate☺. The centre of the web is always a concentration of ideas. So, in my creation, I placed the web in the background in such a way that my mind is at the central point. I love this about me and that’s why I love solitude too. It’s my best partner. The chaos symbol. It has arrows towards all the directions, and as the name suggests symbolizes chaos. Now, even though I have a strong web, what’s beyond that thick skull of mine is an utter chaos of crazy and complex thoughts. Sometimes, I easily forget the work my mother gives just moments after she says it. So I half hid the chaos symbol on the left, behind my head. The Dara Celtic knot. on the right wrist. matter what happens, face it to move on in

It’s the symbol as a bracelet tied It symbolizes inner strength. No I don’t dwell on it too much and life.

The heart. The heart shape I made with the left hand represents how much I value friendship and family, my love loyalty for them. The talons of the eagle. It is the symbol tattoo, just below the left shoulder. It represents bravery and strength. Black color is used to represent my chaotic mind. I used brown color for my skin because my skin is obviously brown, but also, it represents, my responsible, dependable nature. The silver in the bracelet for the patience and perseverance.

The black silk choker and dainty choker. The black silk choker represents elegance and strong-willed and hardworking personality. The dainty choker may make me appear weak and frail., but when you get to know me, I am pretty fierce and determined. I showed the panther’s form on the back of my hand covering a half of my face to show that I am moody and switch between being chill and boiling over nothing, rather than representing it as a mask or façade I put on, (although situations arise and I do that to protect myself). The symbolisms are from different cultures like African, Greek, Irish, European, American, etc. It shows my love for history, mythology, fantasies and folklores. Those were the major inspiration for my work. “Our eyes are the gateway to our souls.” So, I tried to cover both of my eyes with the two most contrasting and essential elements in my work- the flower and the panther. The mouth is a bit open to show my curious personality. As I said, I live each and every moment of my life, with surprises and excitement. And at last, I want to mention a few funny coincidences I found with me and the elements. I use a lotion with cocoa butter everyday for my self care and the chocolaty smell is heavenly. My friends would come to me just to get a whiff of that smell. And surprisingly the chocolate cosmos flower also exudes a sugary sweet chocolate like scent that makes the flower even more lovable! And with the day dreaming part, I always have a serious face with a frown or a hard stoic expression on my face every time I’m alone. I can relate that to the panther;) I think being both smart and naïve, imaginative and realistic, introverted and extroverted at the same time and other contrasts are what make me think uniquely. I am sorry if this explanation was too much, but I meant every thought and emotion when I created my work. Thank you for reading through it patiently☺.
