St John’s Curriculum Overview – Year 11 Introduction

Subject title

Cambridge Nationals IT

Setting arrangements

No setting

Time allowance each fortnight

6hrs

Full-time study programme for students who wish to develop applied knowledge and practical skills in using information technologies. There are two units of assessment. Learners must complete both units of assessment to achieve the qualification. Unit R012 is assessed by an exam and is externally marked, Unit R013 is marked internally and moderated by the exam board.

Spreadsheet design and use of formula. Understand the factors to be considered when collecting and processing data and storing data/information.



Students will be assessed on their theoretical knowledge and understanding of the systems development life cycle using exam style questions. They will also have a practical assessment to assess their ability to use database software and applications.

To be able to import and manipulate data to develop a solution to meet an identified need.

Homework • Expected time allocation for the subject: 45 minutes each week. • Students should review and conduct additional research into the theoretical concepts covered and should practise the software skills taught independently to enhance and develop their skills and ability to use software applications.
