FROM THE EDITOR’S DESK Dear Readers, It is privilege to present this issue of Vidyalaya Patrika, ‘YOUNG MIND’. The school education plays a vital role in the students’ life during which the qualities related to attitude, aptitude and approach are propagated in the minds of budding talents. It is the world of creativity and imagination where children express themselves through their craftsmanship. Walt Disney, a noted writer, has rightly said, “If you can dream it, you can do it.” The Patrika, YOUNG MIND, will take you to the world of facts and fancies, not to hollow humour. It is an endeavour towards recognizing and nurturing child’s penchant for creativity. It is a platform to the creative abilities of students. They have expressed themselves in the form of short stories, poems riddles reports and articles. It is boosting their confidence. The Patrika, ‘YOUNG MIND’, is a glimpse of the curricular and co-curricular activities being held at Vidyalaya level. In this respect the editorial team has tried its level best to cover all the spheres of school activities. CODING : MEANING AND APPLICATIONS

Nowadays we usually hear the word “Coding”. But most of us don’t even know what it is. We also see a lot of commercials tagging that “Teach your Child Coding with our platform and make him/her Future ready.” So what is Coding?? Meaning : It is the process of creation of instructions that a computer can follow. Two Types Of Coding :1. Text Based Coding (Typed Codes). 2. Visual Based Coding (Drag And Crop Codes). Text Based Coding :It involves typing the code in different IDEs. They can be web based or downloadable. Just to name a few we can take :1. Visual Studio Code. 2. Replit. 3. Pycharm. 4. PHPstorm. This type of coding can also be done on the already existing Microsoft Notepad on Windows. Some famous Programming languages (Text Based) are :1. Python 2. JS (Javascript) 3. React 4. C ++ 5. C #

Visual Based Coding:It involves dragging and dropping of different components in the space provided. They are usually web based but some of them are downloadable. For Ex :1. Thunkable. 2. Scratch 3. 3. Wix.com. 4. Xojo. 5. Code.Org. 6. Mobirise. This type of coding can also be done by children and does not need any specific kind of training.

Applications :

1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7.

There are lots of applications of Coding in the Contemporary World. For Ex. Building different OS (Operating System) (OS Supports a device and if they were not there no computer would be there) Building Computers (You could not see this article if computers and programming languages were not there) Building different Websites (We could not perform our tests and attend online classes) Building different Games. (We would be bored and due to this lockdown we could not entertain ourselves if games were not there) Building different Applications (Applications allow us to perform different tasks such as communicating and working) Training different A.I and M.L models (If we could not train different models then we could not get apps such as G Assistant and Siri) Building useful Machines with Robotics (Robotics helps us to make useful machines for things such as automated cars, so if coding was not there then this would be impossible)

Mother Such a pretty dress, My school’s beauty makes me impressed. All this glory was new to me, I felt, all happiness has come to me. My caring and disciplined nature makes me nice, My teacher said I am KV’s shine. English, Hindi, Math’s and EVS were boring never’ But resource room and games used to be best friends forever. I am not so good at dance, But when it comes to music I never lose the chance.

Friendship

Either winter or moonsoon, Springs or summer This unsinkable ship, Floats forever. This is my only lifeboat, On which can I survive. It is warmer than anything else, And has always helped me to revive. Sanay Bhadage IX D

Now from half we come to full pant, Syllabus was elephant and we little ants. Oh, how to deal with this pressure and fear, Our teachers hold our hand and Success was near. Science teacher called me a genius, And math’s forced me to think like a mathematician. English, Sanskrit and Hindi made my thoughts great, And SST taught how this big world is created.

My Subjects Science is the subject, I like the most. Mathematics some fear, Like a ghost. Geography gives us knowledge From all over the world.

Whenever I fall, My KV makes me strong to stand. For my naughtiness I was scold too, But For my disciplined my KV loves me too. Thank you KV for all these precious memories. Just because of you all wonders become true. I don’t know whether again I will see these glories. It is my biggest dream ever which had come true. My KV is my mother, We will always be together. Oh, such a pretty dress, My mother’s beauty made me impressed. Rohit Bhimrao Rithe XII B

Need of the hour: Self-Reliance The whole world was shocked to their core when Russia attacked Ukraine. Many thought it will be a short invasion and the whole Ukraine will fall within few weeks, but that was not to be. This highlighted many of Russia’s shortcomings and forced us to rethink our national policies regarding wartime situations. A powerful nation with an GDP of 1.600 trillion is forced to use washing machine and fridge conducting chips in their missiles. Let me explain, most of Russia’s military equipment is from Soviet era and whatever little modern equipment they have has been expended in the ongoing Russia - Ukraine war. One of the key Russian weapons was precision-guided missile systems. The Russians believed that NATO would enjoy air superiority in any future war, and so designed the highly-accurate 9K720 Iskander missile to compensate. The Iskander was built to evade sophisticated anti-missile defences, and to deliver its payload with accuracy even if GPS signals were jammed. Here comes the problem now the semiconductors used in the missiles are produced in very few places on the globe, mainly in South Korea and since South Korea is a US ally it has stopped its export to Russia. The main point of telling all this is to remind the reader that India’s situation is very similar to that of Russia. We are also heavily depended on other nations for our defence weapons and systems. And one must always remember there is no permanent friend and no permanent enemy in the geopolitics. Because we are heavily dependent on US and its allies for our defence hardware, if for some reason USA was to turn against us, we would be heavily hit. We are trying our best to become self-reliant but our best is not enough. We have to rapidly become self-reliant in not only defence field but all other major fields too. And with our country’s extremely capable workforce and talented brains we will surely achieve it.

NETAJI SUBHAS CHANDRA BOSE

Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was the person for whom ‘Netaji’ word was first time invented. He was born on 23rd January 1897 in Cuttack Odisha. His schooling was done from European school of Cuttack and he even secured 2 nd rank in board exams and he even gets admitted in Presidency collage. Start of the opposition to British Subhash Chandra Bose decided to take revenge, after reading so many incidents about the exploitation of the fellow Indians by the British. In 1916, Subhash reportedly beat and thrashed one of his British teachers E F Otten. The professor made a racist remark against the Indian students. As a result, Subhash Chandra Bose was expelled from the Presidency College and banished from Calcutta University. The incident brought Subhash in the list of rebel-Indians. In December 1921, Bose was arrested and imprisoned for organizing a boycott of the celebrations to mark the Prince of Wales’s visit to India. Although it was believed that Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose died in a plane crash, his body was never recovered. There have been many theories put forward regarding his disappearance. The government of India set up a number of committees to investigate the case and come out with truth .

Mountainalaya It stood like a wave, Facing the sun’s warmth, Chronicle was its past time, Destined to stand like history’s rhyme For it was a mountain, Amidst the mist and snow which came, Mesmerizing was it like a sanctum, Sanctity was its dame. Nobody wondered how it towered upon, The flora of this sacrosanct place. Notorious might have been the force which carved out Such a contemplating face. Its age is anonymous, Is composed of fine animism. Witnessing the blissful memoirs unfold For centuries that came and millennia to go

Many a battles confided on it. Before the victors the defeat ones bow. Dreadful must have been the sight of such a heinous horror, Teaching it the nature of man even now. Don’t look for only some pebble or rock, Cause it emerged reborn from nature’s play and mock. We have much to see and learn, As it still stands like a wave facing the sun. - DIGANTA RAY XI-D (Humanities)

NEED The need to get away, The anticipation to escape, To leave the future here, And create a new, The need to feel something, Anything really, To crave someone, Anyone who cares, The need to know, What really is ahead, Where I'm going, Seeing, Being.

Biscuits and Coffee shop The elegance of sitting in a coffee shop alone, With a coffee to your right, And a biscuit to your left, Listening to the slow songs on your playlists, No one to talk to, Not the lonely kind of no one, The comforting kind, Everyone minding their own conversations, Meanwhile you're all alone, In the coffee shop. An upset girl

There was a girl named Meenu. She was topper of her class for the last five years, but she was not happy because she had no friends. One day when she was playing alone in a park then a girl came near to her and started talking with Meenu. Then Meenu asked her name, that girl replied: - My name is Ria. After talking for some time, Ria offered Meenu to become friends with each other. Then Meenu accepted her friendship. Afterfriendshipwith Ria, Meenu was very happyandthen sheforgot todoherStudies. After one week her final exam was to be held. She keeps on meeting Ria regularly, six days passed now only one day is left for her exam. Suddenly Meenu remembere that there is exam tomorrow, then she started studying. Then Ria came to Meenu's house and Meenu Started talking with Ria. Meenu kept her study material aside and started playing with Ria. Now the last day passed now Meenu was very upset while writing her exam paper. After two days the result came and Meenu failed in her exams. Meenu Started crying thenher mothercameandconsoledher andtold her notto cry. Meenutoldher mother how it so happened to me and also she told her mother everything. Her mother told her a story of a butterfly, she told the story like this. There was a cute little butterfly she was not happy because she was not having any friend but one day a girl came to her and said, you are so cute then that girl offered that butterfly to do friendship with her, thatbutterfly asked her name - that girl replied my name is Renu. But that butterfly didn't know that Renu like to do butterfly collection. After some time Renu stole that butterfly. That butterfly requested that girl to leave her. Now Meenu realised her mistake after this story. The moral of this story is – - We should not believe in anyone with blind eyes. - and we also learn that our friends and our studies both are important.

PEER PRESSURE

Dear Friends! You are a budding flower, Don’t force your petals open before their time Just to seen accessible, Too quiet Too shy Let them unfurl on their own, True friends will stay with you until you blossom Remember… Don’t surrender to PEER PRESSURE just to fit in it or Give every last bit of you just to prove you ‘love' someone Do not degrade someone to feel a better about yourself or Feel embarrassed when you are different to everyone else. Remember… We are all special and we do not deserve to be told otherwise, And there is no shame in accepting what makes you!
