One of the things that I have grown to appreciate more and more since leaving the USA and becoming missionaries is being prayed for. Those of you who have moved to a different country know the challenges and stresses that come with being completely out of your comfort zone, where everything is new and different. No matter how much you love the country you have moved to, it is stressful simply because it is different. That has certainly been the case for me as we moved, first to Costa Rica to learn Spanish, and then here to Ecuador to start serving at EFC. Don’t get me wrong – we loved Costa Rica and we love Ecuador – it’s just normal to face challenges and stresses when you go through such a big change. From getting together all the paperwork for our visas, to learning where to go shopping, to getting our driver’s licenses, to learning how to drive here, to continuing to learn Spanish, to starting to serve at a new church and making new friends, there is plenty that has taken us out of our comfort zone and stretched us. And I can’t say that I’ve come through it all easily and without struggle. Quite the contrary. I have had my stresses and my challenges along the way, and have learned how much I need to rely on God more than I have done in the past. And it has been at these times that I have come to appreciate the fact that people are praying for us. You see, we have a team of people who have said they want to support us through prayer as we follow God on this journey to serve Him here in Ecuador. We send them e-mails every so often to let them know what God is doing, and how they can be praying for us. And hearing from them that they are praying has been an encouragement to us. I have particularly been encouraged by a friend of mine from California named Vito. Several times he’s called me up to see how things are going, and he inevitably ends up praying for me while we’re on the phone. He even sent me a letter of encouragement recently, in which he wrote out a prayer to God to lift me up. I cannot tell you how encouraging these times of prayer have been to me, and how God has used them to help me grow in my faith.

Aquellos de ustedes que se han movido a otro país conocen los desafíos y tensiones que conlleva estar completamente fuera de su zona de confort, donde todo es nuevo y diferente. No importa lo mucho que ame el país donde se ha mudado, es estresante, simplemente porque es diferente. Este, sin duda, ha sido mi caso cuando primero nos movimos a Costa Rica para aprender español, y luego acá, al Ecuador, para empezar a servir en EFC. No me malentiendan - nos encantó Costa Rica y nos encanta Ecuador - es tan normal enfrentarse a retos y al estrés cuando uno pasa por un gran cambio como éste. Desde reunir todos los trámites para el visado, hasta aprender a dónde ir de compras, donde conseguir nuestras licencias de conducir, para aprender a manejar aquí, para seguir aprendiendo español, para empezar a servir en una iglesia nueva y hacer nuevos amigos; ha sido mucho lo que nos ha sacado de nuestra zona de confort y nos estirado de cierta forma. Y no puedo decir que he pasado todo esto con facilidad y sin esfuerzo. Todo lo contrario. He tenido mis desafíos y mis retos en el camino, y he aprendido lo mucho que tengo que confiar en Dios más de lo que he hecho en el pasado. Y ha sido en estos momentos que he llegado a apreciar el hecho de que hay gente que está orando por nosotros. Verán, nosotros tenemos un equipo de personas que han dicho que quieren apoyarnos en oración a medida que seguimos a Dios en este camino para servirle aquí en Ecuador. Les enviamos correos electrónicos de vez en cuando para hacerles saber lo que Dios está haciendo, y cómo pueden estar orando por nosotros. Y escuchar de aquellos que están orando ha sido un estímulo para nosotros. Particularmente he sido animado por un amigo mío de California llamado Vito. Él me ha llamado varias veces para ver cómo van las cosas, e inevitablemente termina orando por mí mientras estamos en el teléfono; e incluso me envió una carta de aliento recientemente, en la que escribió una oración a Dios para que Él me levante. No puedo decirles cuán esperanzadores han sido estos momentos de oración para mí, y cómo Dios los ha usado para ayudarme a crecer en mi fe.

And then there’s my wife, Sara. I am so grateful that God has given me a wife who prays for me and with me. There are times when I get discouraged about things – maybe I’m struggling to figure out where to go with this week’s sermon, or I am feeling overwhelmed with all of the new things here I still haven’t figured out, or I’m feeling inadequate for parts of the ministry we have the privilege of being a

Praying for one another is one of the great privileges of being a child of God in the family of God, and we see in Scripture that it is to be something we do to support one another. We see it in the example of Jesus, as He prayed for His disciples and even for us while He was still here on earth. We see praying for each other in the example of Paul – he often in his letters talked about praying for the believers, even to the point of writing out some of his prayers for them. We see it in Paul’s requests to the believers – he asked them to pray for him multiple times throughout his writings. Even the title of today’s sermon – Brethren, pray for us – is taken directly from Paul in 1 Thessalonians 5. And we see examples of people praying for each other all throughout the Old Testament. Praying for each other is a privilege we have as children of God, and especially as brothers and sisters in the family of Jesus Christ.

Orar unos por otros es uno de los grandes privilegios de ser un hijo de Dios en la familia de Dios y vemos en las Escrituras que esto es algo que hacemos para apoyarnos mutuamente. Lo vemos en el ejemplo de Jesús, cuando Él oró por sus discípulos e incluso por nosotros cuando Él aún estaba en esta tierra. Vemos el orar unos por otros en el ejemplo de Pablo - a menudo en sus cartas habla de orar por los creyentes, incluso hasta el punto de escribir algunas de sus oraciones por ellos. And I use the word “privilege” on purpose here. Like we talked about a couple of weeks ago, to be able to enter into God’s presence and pray for anything at all is a privilege – a gift of God’s grace to us, given through Jesus Christ. It is a privilege to be able to pray at all. But it is also specifically a privilege to be able to pray for one another. We all have burdens in our lives. We all have challenges, we are all weak, we are all in need of God’s grace and strength and wisdom and guidance. And when you pray for your brother or sister, you are asking God – the only one who can meet those needs – to do just that. To bring His wisdom and power and guidance and healing and love to bear on their situations. And we know that God answers prayer. It is a great privilege to be able to pray for one another, so let us pray for each other!

Y uso aquí la palabra "privilegio" a propósito. Al igual de lo que hablamos hace un par de semanas, para poder entrar en la presencia de Dios y orar por cualquier cosa es un privilegio - un regalo de la gracia de Dios para nosotros, dado a través de Jesucristo. Well, as I looked at the Bible and the examples I found there of praying for one another, I was challenged by what I found. Specifically, I was challenged when I looked at what people prayed for, and what their motivation was when they prayed. It made me look at how I pray for others - what I pray for, and what my goal and desire is when I pray for them. And I found that God wants to take my prayer

life deeper, and raise my desires higher when I pray for other people. So this morning we’re going spend time looking in God’s Word to see what we learn about praying for one another. We’ll see how God wants His children to pray for their brothers and sisters, and what is to drive our prayers. And I believe as we look at this we will find our prayers for one another transformed into powerful cries to our great God, that He would do deep and significant kingdom work for His glory in our lives. As we look at praying for one another in the Bible I believe we will understand better the heart of God for each of His children. Would you pray with me to ask God to teach and transform us today? Praying for one another is one of the great privileges we have as sons and daughters of God. So let us look in God’s Word to learn about what it really means to pray for one another as God desires. I want to start with a part of the most famous prayer ever spoken. We’re going to look first at the opening lines of the Lord’s Prayer, because what we find there is the foundational motivation for all prayer. What we find there is an insight into what God desires to be the driving factor in all of our prayers. When we pray, we are to be praying for God’s glory and His kingdom and His will. Let’s read the Lord’s Prayer, found in Matthew 6:913, to start us off. Let’s all read it together. “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.’’ I want to start here today because we find in the first two sentences the motivation that must stand behind all God honoring prayer. When Jesus teaches us to pray, His first request shows us what we are to pray for in all things. He shows us what our deepest desire is to be when we pray. His first request is, “Hallowed be your name.” “Hallowed” is just an old word that means “holy” or “consecrated.” What Jesus is praying for is that God would be recognized and known for Who He truly is – the Only Holy God of the Universe who deserves all worship and reverence and fear and respect and awe and love and obedience. In other words, Jesus is praying that God would be glorified. When we speak

Así que vamos a ver en la Palabra de Dios para aprender acerca de lo que realmente significa orar los unos a los otros como Dios desea que lo hagamos. Quiero empezar con una parte de la más famosa oración que se haya dicho alguna vez. Vamos a ver primero las líneas de apertura de la Oración del Padre Nuestro, porque lo que encontramos allí es la motivación fundamental para toda oración. Lo que encontramos allí es una revelación de lo que Dios quiere que sea el factor determinante en todas nuestras oraciones. Cuando oramos, debemos estar orando por la gloria de Dios, Su reino y Su voluntad. Vamos a leer la oración del Padre Nuestro que se encuentra en Mateo 6:9-13, para empezar. Leamos todos juntos. "Padre nuestro que estás en los cielos, santificado sea tu nombre. Venga tu reino, hágase tu voluntad en la tierra como en el cielo. Danos hoy nuestro pan de cada día, y perdónanos nuestras deudas, como también nosotros perdonamos a nuestros deudores. Y no nos dejes caer en tentación, mas líbranos del mal." Quiero empezar hoy aquí porque nos encontramos en las dos primeras frases sobre la motivación que debe estar detrás de toda oración que honra a Dios. Cuando Jesús nos enseña a orar, su primera petición nos muestra por lo que debemos orar en todas las cosas. Nos muestra lo que debe ser nuestro deseo más profundo cuando oramos. Su primera petición es: "Santificado sea tu nombre". "Santificado" es sólo una palabra antigua que significa "santo" o "consagrado" Jesús está orando para que Dios sea reconocido y conocido por quién Él es realmente -. El único Dios Santo del Universo que merece toda la adoración, la reverencia, el temor, el respeto, la increíble admiración, el amor y la obediencia.

4 of God being glorified, we are talking about Him being known for Who he truly is - in all of His holiness, His beauty and splendor, power and majesty, wisdom and honor, goodness and love. When we talk about God being glorified we are talking about Him being truly known as the Holy and Infinite One True God of the Universe that He truly is. God being glorified is kind of like this: it’s telling everyone about the totally amazing ice cream down the street, bringing them to the store, buying it for them, and allowing them to know how great it is by tasting it for themselves. You have glorified the ice cream – not by making it better than it is, but by showing off how great it truly is by helping others come to know it. When we talk about glorifying God we’re talking about making known how great He truly is. We don’t add anything to His greatness (He is already perfect in every way), we simply make His greatness known. That’s glorifying God, and that is the end goal of our prayers – that God would be glorified.

En otras palabras, Jesús está orando para que Dios sea glorificado. Cuando hablamos que Dios sea glorificado, estamos hablando de que El sea conocido por ser quien Él realmente es - en toda su santidad, su belleza y esplendor, poder y majestad, sabiduría y honor, bondad y amor. Que Dios sea glorificado es algo así como: decir a todos acerca de los helados totalmente increíbles que venden más debajo de la calle, llevarles a la tienda, comprarlos para ellos, y permitirles saber lo buenos que son al probarlos por sí mismos. Usted ha glorificado al helado - no porque usted lo haya hecho mejor de lo que es, sino por mostrar lo grandioso que realmente es, ayudando a otros a que vengan para conocerlo. Cuando hablamos de glorificar a Dios estamos hablando de hacer conocer lo grande que Él realmente es. And then flowing out of that – flowing out of the desire for God to be recognized and known for Who He is – Jesus moves on to ask that God’s kingdom come and will would be done here on earth. When we talk about God’s kingdom and will being brought about we are once again talking about God being glorified. God’s kingdom comes when He is recognized and worshiped for Who He is – the One True God and Ruler of the Universe. And His will comes about here on earth when He is obeyed as the Lord and God that He truly is. When God’s kingdom comes and His will is done on earth as it is in heaven, God is glorified – His name is hallowed. And this, according to Jesus’ example, is the foundational desire of our prayers as His followers. The primary motivation that should stand behind all of our prayers and drive all of our prayers and guide all of our prayers is that God’s name be hallowed, that His kingdom would come, and His will be done here on earth. We pray that God be glorified and worshiped and obeyed.

As we turn now to look at the Bible to see how we are to pray for each other, we’re going to see that God’s glory and kingdom and will are very central to what we learn. When we look at what Jesus and Paul prayed for in the Bible, we see that their primary motivation, their greatest desire in their prayers, is that God would be glorified, that His kingdom would come, and His will would be done. Let’s look together to see what we learn in Scripture about

5 praying for each other from a few of the many examples we find there. As I looked at the many examples of praying for one another in Scripture it seemed that the majority of these examples fit into four main categories, so we’ll look a bit at each of them. And even though there are four main categories, we’ll see that the common thread between them all is what we’ve already talked about: glorifying God is the goal of prayer for each other.

The first category of praying for one another we’ll look at in the Bible is that we should pray for sanctification in each other’s lives. Sanctification is the word God uses in the Bible to describe how Christians grow to be more and more like Jesus. It is a lifelong process which starts the moment we put our faith in Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Sanctification is directed and brought about by the Holy Spirit as we learn to obey and follow His lead in our lives. As we are sanctified we grow to love God more, turn from sin, make godly decisions, have godly desires, and live a life that honors God more and more. In short, sanctification is the process that makes us more like Jesus. When we pray for one another, we should pray that we be sanctified. In 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 we read Paul praying for this very thing: “To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.” Paul prayed that the Thessalonian believers would be made worthy of God’s calling and that they would live lives that are honoring to God in goodness and faith. This transformation of their lives into worthiness and goodness and faith is sanctification. And do you notice the connection that Paul makes next in these verses? Why does Paul want them to live worthy, good and faith-filled lives? So that the name of Jesus may be glorified. Paul prays that the believers would be sanctified so that Jesus would be glorified. And that is exactly what happens when we become more like Jesus: He is glorified. We see this same desire for sanctification expressed in Colossians 1:9-10, where Paul prays, “And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of [God’s] will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.” Paul prays that the Colossian believers would be filled with the

La primera categoría de orar unos por otros que veremos en la Biblia es que debemos orar por la santificación en la vida del otro. Santificación es la palabra que Dios usa en la Biblia para describir cómo los cristianos crecen para ser más y más como Jesús. Es un proceso permanente que comienza en el momento que ponemos nuestra fe en Jesús como nuestro Señor y Salvador. La santificación es dirigida y producida por el Espíritu Santo a medida que aprendemos a obedecer y seguir su ejemplo en nuestras vidas. Pablo oró para que los creyentes de Tesalónica se hagan dignos del llamado de Dios y que vivan vidas que honran a Dios en bondad y en fe. Esta transformación de sus vidas en dignidad, bondad y fe es la santificación. Se dan cuenta de la conexión que Pablo hace a continuación en estos versículos? ¿Por qué Pablo quería que ellos vivan una vida digna, buena y llena de fe? Para que el nombre de Jesús sea glorificado. 6 knowledge of God’s will SO THAT they would live lives that please God. This, too, is a part of sanctification – becoming more like Jesus as we know and live out God’s will. And as we do, God is glorified. There are other examples of prayers in Scripture for the sanctification of other believers, but we don’t have time to cover them all. But as you can see, one of the ways we should be praying for our brothers and sisters in Christ is that they would be sanctified – that they would become more and more like Jesus, for the glory of God.

What might this look like when you pray for your brothers and sisters in Jesus? Let me try to paint you a picture of what it could look like to pray for sanctification in another believer’s life. Perhaps you have a friend in church who has been going through a challenging time with their work. They’ve been trying to honor God in their decisions and actions, but they are facing some untrue accusations and a difficult work environment. They come to you for prayer, asking that you would pray for the situation to clear up. As you pray, it is totally appropriate to pray that God would quiet the accusations and change the work environment, but it would also be good and appropriate to pray that God would sanctify your friend through this trial. You could pray that God would grow their faith through this process and that they would be able to experience His peace as they trust in Him. And you could pray that God would help your friend be like Jesus in this situation, and that God would be glorified as your friend is an example of Jesus in a difficult situation. This would be praying for more than just the circumstances in your friends life – this would be praying for sanctification. And you know what, you don’t have to wait to be asked to pray for sanctification in someone’s life. You can, and should, take the initiative to do so. Perhaps you have learned that a good friend of yours has been struggling with pornography. Clearly you know this is not what God would have for them – He wants them to be pure in heart, soul, mind and body, and He wants them to be free from the bondage of lust. You could, and should, pray that they would stop looking at pornography. But even deeper still you can pray for sanctification. You can pray that God would do a transforming work in this person’s heart: that they would know the joy that comes from walking closely with Jesus, that they would trust Jesus to meet their needs more fully than sin can, and that they would experience the freedom from sin that Jesus came to bring. When you pray for someone, pray for their

7 sanctification, not just their situation. The Bible teaches us to pray for sanctification in one another’s lives. As we continue to look to God’s Word to learn how we should pray for one another, we find that we should pray for unity and love in each other’s lives. We find examples of praying for unity and love in the body of Christ from both Jesus and Paul. And we see once again that the motivation for their prayers is the glory of God. In John 17:21-22 Jesus prays for unity among us as His followers when He says, “...that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one…” Jesus desires that we would experience unity as brothers and sisters, united in Himself. This unity that Jesus is talking about is the same kind of unity He and the Father and the Holy Spirit have together. It is a love and commitment to the good of each other, and to the glory of God. Unity does not mean that we as Christians never have disagreements, but it means that we love each other even when we disagree, and we keep in focus the things that matter most. It means that we all, together, seek to submit to the will of God and serve each other as we follow Him. And when this happens – when imperfect people living in a sinful world are able to love each other and be unified in spite our differences – then God is greatly glorified. For it is only His love in our hearts that allows us to love like He loves. It is only His work in our hearts that allows us to be united as He is united. So He gets the glory when we live like that. It is the same kind of thing we read Paul praying about in Philippians 1:9, when he prays, “And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.” When Jesus’ followers – you and I – are united in love, God gets the glory! So from Jesus and Paul we learn that we should pray for unity and love among each other.

What might this kind of praying look like? Since we’re all human, it is not uncommon for there to be conflict between brothers and sisters in Christ. Now, I don’t think conflict in and of itself is wrong necessarily. It’s what we do in the midst of the conflict, it’s what we work for and grow toward that

So praying for unity and love looks like praying for God to grow love between your brothers and sisters in Christ when some of them are not getting along. Praying for unity and love means praying for the local church called EFC – that we would all be able to love each other in spite of our differences, and that we would all be committed to honoring God more than we’re committed to our own opinions or desires. Praying for unity and love in the lives of our brothers and sisters means that we pray that they would love sacrificially and selflessly, because that’s how Jesus loves. And in this God is greatly glorified, for all the world can see that this love is not from us but is from God above, who is Himself love.

So as we have looked at God’s word so far, we have seen that we are to pray with the desire that God be glorified. As we pray for one another, we are to pray that we would be sanctified to the glory of God, and that we would be united and grow in love to the glory of God.

As we move on we also see that we are to pray that the Gospel would spread through the lives of our fellow brothers and sisters in Jesus. We must pray that God would give our fellow Christ followers opportunities to tell others about Jesus, and the boldness to take those opportunities. We see this in two examples of when Paul asked others to pray for him. In 2 Thessalonians 3:1 we read Paul asking, “Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored…” And in Colossians 4:3 we read Paul asking, “At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison – that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak.”

makes all the difference. Selfishness, cruel words, and unforgiveness are all things that can grow out of disagreements between people, but these do not bring about unity and are definitely not loving and not honoring to God. On the contrary, in order to grow in unity and honor God when we enter conflict we need to be loving and kind and patient, forgiving and selfless. But these characteristics are not natural to us humans. We need God’s help to treat each other this way. And that’s exactly why we pray and ask God to unite us in love – because we need His help. And when He does help us, when we are able to be loving and united even in the midst of conflict, God is glorified because people see His character clearly through us.

9 When we pray for other believers, we should pray that they would have opportunities to share the good news of Jesus with other people, and that they would have boldness to speak when the opportunities arise. This is, after all, what we are called to as followers of Jesus. And it is to be a regular part of our lives. We who know Jesus are His witnesses in the world, just as we talked about so much in the book of Acts. Again, this brings us back to our prayers being motivated by the glory of God. For when a person meets Jesus – when they trust Him for salvation – God is greatly glorified in making Himself known to them and saving them. God’s goodness and graciousness and justice and love are put on display for all the world to see when He saves a sinner and sets them free. When we pray for one another, let us pray that we might have opportunities to tell others about Jesus, and the boldness to take those opportunities. Again, what might it look like to pray for your brothers and sisters in Christ to have opportunities to share the Gospel? Well, maybe you know that your good friend from Bible study comes from a family that does not trust in Jesus as their Savior. It is your friends heartfelt desire that their family comes to know Jesus, and your friend has been praying for the right opportunity to talk to them and tell them of Christ’s love. Join her in praying for that opportunity to come along! Ask God to be working in her family’s hearts so that they would be willing to listen, and perhaps even come to put their faith in Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Or maybe it’s a bit more generic than that. You are friends with a fellow Christian who owns a business and has several employees. You know your friend tries to honor God in the way he runs his business. Pray for your friend – that he will have opportunities to share his faith with his employees, his clients, and his competitors. Pray that he’ll have wisdom to know how, and boldness to take opportunities God brings his way. When we pray for one another, pray that God will give opportunities for us to tell others about Jesus. So, as we’ve looked at praying for one another in the Bible we’ve seen that we should pray for sanctification in each other’s lives for the glory of God. We’ve seen that we can and should pray for unity and love in each other’s lives for the glory of God. And we’ve seen that we should pray for opportunities for our brothers and sisters to share the Good News about Jesus Christ with people. These are

three things we are to pray for each other in the Bible. But if you remember, I said there were four main categories I saw in Scripture when it came to praying for each other. In fact, you might recognize that I have left out the category you expected me to talk about first. I’ve said very little so far about praying for one another and our circumstances – our daily needs and struggles. The Bible does indeed talk plenty about praying for each other when we’re sick, or when we’re facing struggles or when we’re in need. But I’ve left this category for last, and I’m not even going to say much about it because I actually think we already over emphasize this area of praying for one another to the point that we probably don’t pray for the first three things I’ve mentioned – sanctification, unity, evangelism – nearly enough. Yes, we must pray for one another in our daily needs, our challenges, our temptations, our struggles. But let us not merely pray for God to change the circumstances we face. Let us pray that He would sanctify our brothers and sisters through those circumstances. Let us pray that God would grow our brothers’ and sisters’ hearts to be more loving toward others through the hard things they experience. And let us pray that the challenges and difficult circumstances our brothers and sisters face might open the door for people around them to come to know Jesus, the loving God who upholds them in the midst of these difficult things. And let us pray that above all God would be glorified as He sanctifies, unifies, spreads the Good News, and works in and through circumstances. You know, praying for God to be glorified really gets me excited. It gets me excited because I want to see more of God myself – I want to know Him more clearly for Who He is, and worship Him. And I want others to know and experience God more clearly and powerfully and deeply in their lives. Because, as Jesus prayed to His father, “This is eternal life, that they may know you, the only True God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” Knowing God and Jesus His Son is true life! When you pray that God would be glorified in and through your brothers and sisters in Christ, you are really praying that they would truly live, and that others would as well. You are praying for eternal things! Not just temporary! That is why I get excited about praying for the glory of God when I pray for my brothers and sisters. I hope it excites you, as well.

Conocer a Dios y a su Hijo Jesucristo es la verdadera vida! Cuando usted ora para que Dios sea glorificado en y a través de sus hermanos y hermanas en Cristo, usted está realmente orando para que verdaderamente vivan, y que otros también lo hagan. Usted está orando por las cosas eternas! No solamente por las temporales! Por eso me emociono acerca de orar para la gloria de Dios cuando oro por mis hermanos y hermanas. 11 As we come to the end of the sermon today we’re going to do what we’ve been talking about. We’re going to pray for one another. Like I said a couple of weeks ago, it is useless to learn about prayer if it does not move us to actually pray. So, in just a minute I’m going to have you break up into groups of three or four people, and give you the opportunity to pray for one another. Share what’s on your heart, and pray for each other. Bring each other’s needs and concerns to our great God and Father who cares for each of us more than we can possibly imagine. And as you do, let the eyes of your soul be lifted up towards our great God. Let your prayers be driven by His glory. As the Holy Spirit leads you, pray for sanctification, pray for unity and love, pray for the Gospel to spread, and pray that God would change circumstances, if it is His will. So, break up into groups of three or four, and take the next few minutes to pray for one another, and then I’ll bring us back together by praying for us all.
