Appeal for a ban of highly hazardous pesticides Decades of experience has shown that, despite numerous ‘safe use’ programs, the ’safe use’ of highly hazardous pesticides (HHPs) is not possible. People, farmanimals, wildlife and the environment continue to suffer considerable harm from HHPs. After decades of failure which have seen millions of deaths worldwide, new policies are needed to stop pesticide poisonings. A progressive phaseout and ban of HHPs, along with new policies for supporting alternatives, can make a change towards a healthy and sustainable world for all. We, the undersigned organizations, call on governments and corporations to take concrete steps towards a progressive ban of HHPs and their substitution with ecosystem-based alternatives. Organizational signatories 529 organizations from 109 countries / 28.07.2016 – Listed according to country. 1. 2. 3.

A healthy world for all. Protect humanity and the environment from pesticides. Promote alternatives.
Sign this appeal ! In 2006, the Council of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) recommended a progressive ban on highly hazardous pesticides (HHPs). Acting on the FAO Council’s recommendation and realizing that not enough has been done yet, we encourage organizations, institutions and companies to sign this appeal.
Individuals please sign the appeal at: http://bit.ly/PAN-Int-HHPs
Organisations please sign this appeal by: sending an email to
[email protected] with the following information: - name of the organization - country - contact person and - email of the contact person. The more organizations sign, the stronger will be this call for action against the use of highly hazardous pesticides and for the implementation of agroecological alternatives.
Use this appeal! You can use this appeal with the list of organizational signatories to support your own activities towards a phase out of HHPs; and to encourage organisations, institutions, and companies to not just sign this appeal but also to develop a plan of action for phasing out HHPs with priorities, timeframes, and concrete measures. The PAN International Regional Centers will support such initiatives wherever possible.
