2004 Environmental report contents For the second consecutive year Toyota Argentina S.A. releases its Environmental Report outlining the activities, related to the environment, which were carried out in Argentina during its fiscal year 2003 (FY 2003), i.e. between April 2003 and March 2004. The Environmental Report is edited yearly and provisions have been taken in order to present the next one by December 2005, which will include the activities of the fiscal year 2004 (FY2004). Likewise, Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), head-office of Toyota Argentina S.A., as well as many other subsidiaries around the world publish their own Environmental Reports every year. TMC has been publishing its Environmental Report every year since 1998. Several sources of information were considered for the preparation of the successive editions of the Environmental Report, especially those belonging to TASA, the publications mentioned and the guidelines received from Deloitte Touche auditors for the making of this type of publication. The evaluation made by TMC and arranged by Toyota Argentina 2003 Environmental Report, was especially considered. The current 2004 Environmental Report refers mainly to TASA production activities, its administrative and commercial areas, suppliers and dealers, and includes topics referred to the environment which the Company dealt around the world with. It also considers the relationship of TASA with society. The 2004 Environmental Report was prepared thinking on our customers, dealers, headoffice and branches of Toyota, as well as journalists, students, professionals, researchers, educational organizations, non-governmental organizations, government and all interested in knowing about the environmental management in Toyota Argentina S.A. Contenido del Reporte Ambiental 2004 Por segundo año consecutivo, Toyota Argentina S.A. (TASA) presenta su Reporte Ambiental 2004, en el que describe sus actividades relacionadas con el medio ambiente, desarrolladas en la Argentina durante su año fiscal 2003 (AF 2003), periodo comprendido entre abril de 2003 y marzo de 2004. La publicación del Reporte Ambiental es anual, previéndose presentar la siguiente edición en diciembre de 2005, en la cual se incluirán las actividades del año fiscal 2004 (AF 2004). Asimismo, tanto Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), casa matriz de Toyota Argentina S.A., como varias de sus subsidiarias en el mundo, publican anualmente sus reportes ambientales. En el caso de TMC, lo hace desde 1998. Para la confección de las sucesivas ediciones del Reporte Ambiental se consideraron diversas fuentes de información, especialmente las pertenecientes a TASA, e incluyendo las publicaciones mencionadas, así como los lineamientos de la consultora Deloitte Touche para la realización de este tipo de publicación. Asimismo fue especialmente considerada la evaluación realizada por TMC, del Reporte Ambiental 2003 de Toyota Argentina S.A. El presente Reporte Ambiental 2004 se refiere principalmente a la actividad productiva de TASA, a sus áreas administrativas y comerciales, proveedores y concesionarios, e incluye temas referidos al medio ambiente, abordados por la Compañía en todo el mundo. También contempla la relación de TASA con la comunidad. El Reporte Ambiental 2004 se edita considerando a los clientes, concesionarios, proveedores, casa matriz y filiales de Toyota, así como periodistas, estudiantes, profesionales, investigadores, instituciones educativas, organizaciones no gubernamentales, gobierno y a todos los interesados en conocer la gestión ambiental de Toyota Argentina S. IMV Project IMV Project The vehicle project known as IMV (initials for Innovative Multipurpose Vehicle) will be launched in March of 2005. This new product will be manufactured at Zárate Plant and as well as in Thailand, Indonesia, India and South Africa. TASA production plan with respect to the IMV foresees manufacturing 44.000 units annually, in two shifts, with the intention of supplying the argentine market and exporting to other countries in America. For this project the constructed area at the Zárate Plant has been enlarged to 48.700 m2 from the preexistent 32.000 m2 and it is estimated that the number of employees will be increased to 1500.

Industrial Vehicles The operations in this sector, carried out at Don Torcuato facilities during FY 2003 (1.380 constructed m2) implies 2.297 maintenance services, invoicing $ 2.000.000.

Toyota Argentina S.A.: Datos principales

Proyecto IMV En marzo de 2005 se presentará el vehículo denominado IMV (por sus siglas en inglés, Innovative Multipurpose Vehicle, vehículo multipropósito innovador). Este nuevo producto se fabricará en la Planta de Zárate así como en Tailandia, Indonesia, India y Sudáfrica. Los planes de producción de TASA respecto del IMV contemplan la fabricación de 44.000 unidades anuales, en 2 turnos, las que servirán para abastecer al mercado argentino, y también para su exportación a países de América. Para este proyecto se amplió la superficie cubierta de la Planta de Zárate a 48.700 m2, de los 32.000 preexistentes y se estima que se incrementará el personal a cerca de 1.500 integrantes.

Vehículos Industriales La actividad de esta área, llevada a cabo en las instalaciones de Don Torcuato, (de 1.380 m2 cubiertos) durante el AF 2003 incluyó la realización de 2.297 servicios de mantenimiento, que implicaron una facturación de $ 2.000.000.

Message from Toyota Argentina S.A. The current edition gives a detailed account of the activities being carried out in Toyota Argentina S.A. toward achieving a better connection with the environment. At the same time it includes the objectives we intended and the goals reached at the daily pursuit of excellence. Our environmental policy states four basic points on which the actions we undertake rely: Continual improvement, prevention of pollution, in compliance with the law and cooperation with society. This public commitment is assumed not only by the organization as a whole but by each and every one of its members, strengthen it. In this, the second edition of TASA Environmental Report, we feel proud to bring forward the environmental achievements obtained by members of our dealers’ network. In this particular case, they are the first ones in the region to obtain the ISO 14001 certificate for their operations. As part of the Argentine automobile industry, TASA supports and reassures its commitment to collective growth. It is for that reason that in the fiscal year 2003 the necessary tasks were undertaken directed at increasing the capacity of our Zárate manufacturing plant and setting our production lines ready for a new model that will come to replace the current version of our Hilux pick-up we have been producing since 1997. Toyota will invest 206,9 million dollars in this new project that for the time being we call IMV. As we always do, in all of our operations at TASA, we have carried out the respective environmental impact studies prior to building up the new facilities or doing the necessary changes in the existent, providing not only the construction itself but also the future activities that might affect the environment. Mensaje de Toyota Argentina S.A. La presente publicación detalla las actividades que realizamos en Toyota Argentina S.A. en pos de relacionarnos mejor con el medio ambiente. Asimismo, incluye los objetivos que nos proponemos en ese sentido y los logros que obtenemos en la cotidiana persecución de excelencia. Nuestra política ambiental tiene cuatro puntos básicos en los que se apoyan las acciones que emprendemos: el mejoramiento continuo, la prevención de la contaminación, el cumplimiento de las leyes y la cooperación con la sociedad. Este compromiso público es asumido, no sólo por la organización como tal, sino también por cada uno de sus integrantes, reforzándolo. En esta, la segunda edición del Reporte Ambiental de TASA, nos enorgullecemos de presentar los logros ambientales obtenidos por integrantes de nuestra red de concesionarios. En este caso, se trata de los primeros de la región en obtener la certificación ISO 14001 para sus operaciones. Como integrante de la industria automotriz argentina, TASA mantiene y reafirma su compromiso de contribuir al crecimiento conjunto. Por esa razón, en el año fiscal 2003 se iniciaron las tareas para elevar la capacidad de producción de nuestra planta de Zárate, preparando nuestras líneas de fabricación para una nueva versión, que reemplazará a la pick up Hilux, que realizamos desde 1997. Toyota Argentina S.A. Introduction Toyota Argentina S.A. (TASA) is an automobile manufacturing company located in Zárate, Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. TASA is a branch of Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) placed in Japan and founded in 1937. TMC is one of the three largest automobile manufacturers in the world and employs around a quarter million employees. TMC owns 43 factories in 26 countries and markets its products and services in more than 160 countries around the world. TMC also manufactures forklifts, industrial equipment, houses and leisure boats. The Company is also present in telecommunications, air and shipping services and in the field of financial activities. In its main plant, located in Zárate, TASA manufactures commercial vehicles, pickup trucks (Hilux), which are

commercialized in the Argentine market as well as in Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay. TASA also commercializes passenger cars like Corolla and Camry, SUV RAV4, Hilux SW4, Land Cruiser 100 and the recently launched Land Cruiser Prado. Marketing and distribution of these vehicles, as well as the various inherent services, are made through a network of dealers covering most of the Argentine territory. On the other hand TASA commercializes the Lexus vehicle line, a brand of Toyota aimed at the luxury market segment, of which the IS200, GS300 and LS430 sedans are available at present. On a 1.320.000 m2 of land, Zárate plant which, by the fiscal year 2003, had a constructed area of 36.000 m2 now totals 48.000 m2, to which 11.500m2, corresponds to service areas, that had been added.

TASA started manufacturing light commercial vehicles on 3/21/1997, at that time with a production capacity of 25.000 units. In the FY 2003, TASA directly employed 650 people to produce 12 different models of the Hilux vehicle ranging from gasoline engines (for export) to diesel and turbo-diesel ones, 2 or 4 wheel drive and simple or double passenger cabin. Until March 2004, and from the beginning of its production operations TASA has manufactured 96.128 vehicles, 18.568 of which correspond to the FY 2003. Besides, during the FY 2003, the following models were imported and commercialized. Apart from its main plant, TASA sales administrative and commercial areas are located in Vicente López, Province of Buenos Aires (including a workshop exclusively for the Lexus line), and a service center for industrial vehicles at Don Torcuato, Province of Buenos Aires.

Toyota Argentina S.A. (TASA) es una empresa automotriz, con sede en el partido de Zárate, provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina. TMC es uno de los tres más grandes grupos fabricantes de automotores a escala mundial y tiene cerca de un cuarto de millón de empleados. TASA inició la fabricación de vehículos utilitarios livianos el 21/3/1997, con una capacidad de producción anual de 25.000 unidades por año, hasta este AF. En el AF 2003, en la planta industrial se desempeñaban 650 personas como personal propio de TASA, para producir 12 versiones del vehículo Hilux, que incluye

variantes de motores nafteros (para exportación), diesel y turbodiesel, tracción simple o doble y cabina simple o doble. Hasta marzo de 2004, y desde el comienzo de las operaciones de producción, TASA ha fabricado 96.128 vehículos, de los cuales 18.568 corresponden al AF 2003. Asimismo, durante el AF 2003 fueron importados y comercializados los automóviles ante mencionados. Además de su planta principal, TASA tiene un área administración de ventas y comercialización en Vicente López, provincia de Buenos Aires, (donde opera el taller exclusivo para la línea Lexus), y un área para brindar servicio a vehículos industriales, en la localidad de Don Torcuato.
