PREFLIGHT INSPECTION 1.

Propellers

WARNING: DO NOT OPEN PRESSURIZED SUMP FILLER CAP WITH AUXILIARY MOTOR RUNNING. A.

Place each propeller No. 1 blade to 12 o’clock position.

B.

Inspect propellers for hydraulic leakage. If leakage is evident, check propeller hydraulic quantity. Service as required. (Refer to inspection Work Card B-13, B-14, B-15 or B-16 as required.) Inspect propeller blades, cuffs and heaters for nicks, scratches, pitting, burns and corrosion/erosion paying particular attention to blade leading edges. Inspect propeller assemblies for condition and security.

C. D. 2.

Engines A. B.

Remove engine inlet and exhaust plugs. Inspect cowling, access panels, engines, and nacelles for general condition, security, and evidence of fluid leakage.

NOTE: Engine oil quantity check must be performed within 30 minutes after engine shutdown. C. Engine oil quantity. st D. Inspect engine air inlet section and 1 stage compressor blades for foreign object damage, evidenced by nicked, dented or bent blades. Pay particular attention to the inlet anti ice lip assembly for evidence of cracks in the bulkhead, common to the lip plenum. E. Inspect engine exhaust tail pipe and cone for security. F.

Inspect 4 stage turbine blades and vanes for damage.

G.

Install engine inlet and exhaust plugs.

Supplemental Preflight for Operation in Sand, Dust and/or High Ambient Temperature Environments. A. B. C.

Verify that no accumulation of sand/dust exists in engine nacelles, oil coolers, and ram air scoops. Clean as required. Ensure that no residual sand/dust is present in engine inlets. Use a clean, dry rag to remove any accumulated sand. During each engine inlet check verify that the inlet scoop to engine inlet housing has no more than ¼ inch step at any point to assure minimum distortion of the compressor face pressure pattern at high ambient temperatures.

D. Inspect engine for fluid leakage which might accumulate sand/dust. Clean area and correct discrepancy. NOTE:

Ensure that starter dipstick cavity is clean before removing dipstick when operating in sand/dust environment.

E. Check starter oil quantity and maintain at maximum level (applicable starters).
