This is Airways! For you who are aviation enthusiasts at heart, ‘300’ will trigger in your mind images of some aircraft models like the Airbus A300 or the -300s series of various Boeing models (from the 737 to the 777). But, in this case, let’s talk about 300, a popular movie EDVHG RQ D ¿FWLRQDOL]HG DQFLHQW battle in which 300 Spartans struck fear and terror into the hearts of their far more numerous opponents (sorry, I don’t want to spoil the movie for those who haven’t seen it yet). Each issue of Airways published since 1994 has become one of our 300, delivering not fear but awe, and not terror but fun to our readers as we covered the ups and downs of the air travel industry. We are steadily heading toward our 30th anniversary! Two years may sound DORQJWLPHEXWZHDUHDFWXDOO\RQVKRUW¿QDO This issue pays homage to one of those battles that often occur between airlines, with the rise and fall of the charter airlines in Spain LQ WKH V EDFN ZKHQ RXU PDJD]LQH ZDV WDNLQJ LWV ¿UVW VWHSV under the tenure of John Wegg and Jon Proctor. And talking about Jon—an inspiration to many of us at Airways—we want to remember him on the second anniversary of his passing. His massive photo archive is now in the loving care of Tom Livesey, ZKRVKDUHVKLVÀ\LQJFDUHHUH[SHULHQFHVLQWKLVLVVXH¶V/HIW6HDW Chronicles section. To Jon, and to you, dear readers. We have reached our 300-issue milestone, and we cannot thank you enough for being there, giving XVIHHGEDFNDQGSXVKLQJXVWRH[FHOHYHU\GD\:HKDYHHYROYHG QRZRIIHULQJPRUHWKDQDSULQWSXEOLFDWLRQH[WHQGLQJRXUVHOYHVWR digital platforms and social media outlets with more content for our ever-growing readership.
