Autumn is upon us and it’s proving good for business! AFL season is underway and unfortunately our proud partners Gold Coast Suns are 1 from 3, but we know their hard work in the off season will pay off and we can’t wait to see them start winning some games. January as you may recall saw Austworld with a slow start to the year, February and March have seen us back at boom levels as the industry sees a sense of recovery. We have seen the first shipments of our linear drain range arrive in house and these are starting to move out to National Tiles amongst other customers as we look to tackle a new corner of the market. Our Townsville warehouse will start operations within April and special thanks to Frank Raso & Donna Blair for everything they’ve done to make this happen. Ron Heerschop is the proud beneficiary of this shiny new toy and will use this to leverage a first-class supply position in FNQ. Lucent and Kõlu market positioning is underway with the sales team receiving some good feedback on which product to position and where, which is vital for us to be responding to what the market really wants to enable success. Finally, this morning we had news of 2 OH&S events, one each in Victoria and Queensland. While the incident in Queensland was a near miss, the incident in Victoria may require some time off. If you see a colleague in danger or at risk of injury, please alert them and make the workplace safe for everyone. I want to see everyone return to their families at the end of the day safely. It was an honour and privilege to hear Stephen McGown tell his extraordinary story as the longestheld Al Qaeda captive in the world at our head office later February. Stephen’s story is one of resilience, strength, compassion, and real gumption. In circumstances that one can only call a fever dream, this was real life for Stephen for 6 years.

Collectively, we all took away something from his story that has no doubt changed our thoughts, behaviours, and overall perspective on life. Our time with Stephen was a welcome reminder to live every day with good intentions, to be present and to enjoy every moment with the ones you love.

A big thank you to Stephen for his time, our National Marketing Manager Taryn and Lisa Ketjen from the Usher Group for introducing Stephen to us all. To learn more about Stephen’s story, his book “Six Years a Hostage” is available in all bookstores and online.

MINDFULNESS TIPS FOR A BETTER WORK LIFE BALANCE Leaving Work at Work Another good habit to get into is being more judicious with technology when we’re not at the office. Try not to check your email incessantly when you’re at home. Do your best to leave work at your workplace. This will help you be more present with friends and family, and also more refreshed when you arrive at the office.

A simple exercise, known as R.A.I.N., can help us stay in the present moment and not get caught up clinging to the experiences of others, or our own emotions.

R: Recognize. Acknowledge what is happening, just noting it in a calm and accepting manner. A: Accept. Allow life to be just as it is, without trying to change it right away, and without wishing it were different somehow. I: Investigate. See how it feels, whether it is making you upset or happy, giving you pleasure or pain, just note it. N: Non-Identification. Realize that the sensations you are feeling make for a fleeting experience, one that will soon pass. It isn’t who you are.
