PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

HOLY FAITH EPISCOPAL CHURCH, PORT ST. LUCIE, FL. SEVENTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST July 3, 2016 Celebrant Gracious God, in Jesus you have shown us that the Kingdom of God has come near to us, and you have appointed disciples to go to every town and place to proclaim the Good News: Hear our prayers on behalf of the whole human family, that everyone may be rescued from all that may threaten or oppress, as we pray: Lord, hear our prayer.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO USE ANY OF THE CHURCH BUILDINGS? There are forms to be filled out for these requests. They are hanging on the wall under the calendar in Harrison Hall. Please fill out and place in the box for the secretary or bring to the office. DO NOT ADD ANYTHING TO THE CALENDAR. The secretary will do this, after confirming that the date and time are available.

Florist’s Availability Ladies, if you plan to be away during the next several months, please remember to indicate this

on the “Florist’s Availability” form provided in the narthex

Holy God, you have given your Church authority over all the power of evil and sent laborers into the plentiful harvest of your Kingdom: Let your hand be with your servants, that peace may rest upon us and blessing be among all to whom we are sent. Lord, hear our prayer. Almighty God, guide the leaders of all nations along your paths of justice and peace, that in a spirit of gentleness you may restore those who have transgressed and teach all people to fulfill the law of Christ by bearing one another's burdens. Lord, hear our prayer. Compassionate God, weeping may spend the night, but joy comes in the morning: Let your favor dwell with all who live with illness, poverty or war, that your healing and life-giving grace may bring comfort and peace to the earth. Lord, hear our prayer. Ever-present God, let this community sing to you and give thanks for the remembrance of your holiness: May we not grow weary in doing what is right, so that whenever we have an opportunity, we will work for the good of all, and especially for those of the family of faith. Lord, hear our prayer.

Recessional BATTLE HYMN OF THE REPUBLIC 1. My eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord; He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored; He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword; His truth is marching on. Refrain/Refrán:

Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! His truth is marching on. 2. I have seen Him in the watch fires of a hundred circling camps They have build Him an altar in the evening dews and damps; I can read His righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps; His day is marching on. (Refrain ...) 3. I have read a fiery Gospel writ in burnished rows of steel; “As ye deal with My condemners, so with you My grace shall deal"; Let the Hero, born of woman, crush the serpent with His heel, Since God is marching on. (Refrain ...) 4. He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call retreat; He is sifting out the hearts of men before His judgment seat; Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him! be jubilant, my feet; Our God is marching on. (Refrain ...) 5. In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea, With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me: As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free;

While God is marching on. (Refrain ...) 6. He is coming like the glory of the morning on the wave, He is wisdom to the mighty, He is honor to the brave; So the world shall be His footstool, and the soul of Time 19

LORD, WHEN YOU CAME TO THE SEASHORE 1. Lord, when you came to the seashore you weren't seeking the wise or the wealthy, but only asking that I might follow. REFRAIN O Lord, in my eyes you were gazing, Kindly smiling, my name you were saying; All I treasured, I have left on the sand there; Close to you, I will find other seas. 2. Then sings my soul, my Savior, God, to Thee, How great Thou art, how great, Thou art. 2. When through the woods and forest glades I wander. And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees, When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur, And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze.

Amazing Grace

OFFERTORY

1. Amazing grace! How sweet the sound, That saved a wretch like me!

America the Beautiful Played by L. Latorre & A. Barrios Jr.

I once was lost, but now am found, was blind but now I see. 2. ‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,

And grace my fears relieved; How precious did that grace appear the hour I first believed!

O beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain, for purple mountain majesties above the fruited plain! America! America! God shed his grace on thee, and crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea.

3. The Lord has promised good to me, His word my hope secures; ‘

He will my shield and portion be as long as life endures. 4. Through many dangers, toils, and snares, I have already come; ‘Tis grace that brought me safe thus far,

O beautiful for heroes proved in liberating strife, who more than self their country loved, and mercy more than life! America! America! God mend thine every flaw, confirm thy soul in self-control, thy liberty in law.

And grace will lead me home. 5. When we’ve been there ten thousand years, Bright shining as the sun, We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise Than when we’d first begun.

14

O beautiful for patriot dream that sees beyond the years thine alabaster cities gleam, undimmed by human tears! America! America! God shed his grace on thee, and crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea.

COMMUNION/COMUNIÓN Something in the Water Sung by Bianca Kadison He said, "I've been where you've been before. Down every hallway's a slamming door. No way out, no one to come and save me. Wasting a life that the Good Lord gave me. Then somebody said what I'm saying to you, Opened my eyes and told me the truth." They said, "Just a little faith, it'll all get better." So I followed that preacher man down to the river and now I'm changed And now I'm stronger There must've been something in the water Oh, there must've been something in the water. Well, I heard what he said and I went on my way Didn't think about it for a couple of days Then it hit me like a lightning late one night I was all out of hope and all out of fight

Couldn't fight back the tears so I fell on my knees Saying, "God, if you're there come and rescue me." Felt love pouring down from above Got washed in the water, washed in the blood and now I'm changed And now I'm stronger There must be something in the water Oh, there must be something in the water. And now I'm singing along to amazing grace Can't nobody wipe this smile off my face Got joy in my heart, angels on my side Thank God almighty, I saw the light Gonna look ahead, no turning back Live every day, give it all that I have Trust in someone bigger than me Ever since the day that I believed I am changed And now I'm stronger There must be something in the water (amazing grace) Oh, there must be something in the water (how sweet the sound) Oh, there must be something in the water (that saved a wretch) Oh, there must be something in the water (like me) Oh, yeah 13
