Our Lady of Guadalupe celebration and Mass were held on Sunday, December 11th. Everyone who came was greeted warmly by ushers wearing Our Lady of Guadalupe insignias on their shirts. The evening began with the recitation by all of the Holy Rosary in Spanish. Participants wore traditional native garments and glittery costumes that added to the festive atmosphere.
4th Sunday of Advent Isaiah 7:10-14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, a young woman shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Psalms 24:1-6 Who may go up the mountain of the LORD? Who can stand in his holy place? Romans 1:1-7 To all God's beloved in Rome, who are called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Matthew 1:18-24 But as he considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit; she will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”
A statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe was adorned with dozens of roses and flowers made into the shape of the flags of Mexico and the United States of America. More photos inside and check our website for photos and videos!

Eternal Rest Grant Unto Them, O Lord, And let perpetual light shine upon them. Please remember in your prayers those of our parish, friends, and family members who have recently died. John R. Golomb James Thompson Jr. “May the angels lead you into paradise...”
This Week at a Glance Weekend, December 17/18 Be sure to get your copy of “Resisting Happiness” by Matthew Kelly, a gift for you from St. Mark’s Altar Rosary and Holy Name Societies. A Banner Year: Thank you to all who helped make our service afternoon at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School a success (above). The monetary donations and service hours made a noticeable difference. Many of the volunteers have suggested we plan another day. The participants seemed to enjoy the opportunity to help and the children were very pleasantly surprised by the changes. They were able to spruce up the cafeteria, paint the doorways to all the classrooms, reinforce and paint their stage and one of the volunteers painted their school mission statement on the entrance wall. Thank you again for these works of mercy. Also, thank you to all who donated coats this summer and this November which members of our Confirmation Class helped sort (below)! Our Spanish community is very grateful for the winter garments and donations of chickens, which they prefer over turkey on Thanksgiving.
