New Year’s Eve Party

Holiday Tree Trimming & Cookie Exchange Wednesday, December 4 4:00pm Holiday music provided by Vicki Lei

(or $10 per person if you attend New Year’s Eve dinner at Destinations or the Golf Club) Dance the night away with entertainment provided by Kip Sweeney & Band. Stay the entire night or drop in and enjoy the entertainment and cash bar with your friends. Fee includes entertainment, party favors, snacks, champagne toast at midnight and balloon drop. Reservations are required and may be made on the Residents website calendar for the party. If you wish to make reservations for New Year’s Eve Dinner, you must call Destinations or the Golf Club. Please see the Destinations section of this newsletter for full details on the New Year’s Eve Dinner being held at Destinations and the Golf Club (Golf Members only).

Securitas will be checking Residents and guests for wristband and ID cards on a more frequent basis. Please remember to bring your Resident wristbands or ID cards with you to the outdoor pool and various areas at the Town Center. If you are in need of a wristband, please inquire with the Staff at Soleil. Guest wristbands can be picked up at the Fitness Center as well.

Don’t forget to update your information with Debbie Bill in the Administrative Office! Debbie can be reached at (239) 985-1770 or via email at debbiebill@wcicommunities. com. You may also log in to the Resident website to update your information which is automatically routed to the Administrative Office upon update! Please be sure to update: • Address and Phone Numbers • Birthday so you can be a part of the Birthday Club at Destinations • Emergency Contact Form (which can be updated by filling out a form at Soleil). The emergency contact information is kept on file in the event we need to contact someone for you. Pelican Preserve Vehicle Storage Lot All vehicles parked in the Pelican Preserve storage lot must be registered with the Town Center Administrative Office. To register your vehicle, please contact Debbie Bill in the Town Center Administrative Office at (239) 985-1770. Any unregistered vehicle in the Pelican Preserve storage lot will be towed at the owner’s expense. Residents returning from the North who are planning to store vehicles and trailers in the storage lot over the winter should contact Debbie Bill in the Town Center Administrative Office so she may update the storage lot records. Friendly Reminders: • All guests must check in at the Fitness Center to obtain temporary wristbands before using the outdoor pool. Guests using the Fitness Center must check in at the Front Desk and pay a guest fee. • Please refrain from smoking in the outdoor pool area and the eating area by Frescos. Smoking areas are located

outside the pool fence. • No glass containers are allowed in the pool areas. • Children under 12 years old are not allowed in the spa per the Lee County Health Department. • During inclement weather please alert the staff in the Fitness Center to lower umbrellas at the Outdoor Pool to prevent damage. • Please adhere to posted speed limits throughout Pelican Preserve and yield to pedestrians in crosswalks. • Golf course and cart paths are for golfers only. Please do not use the golf course or cart paths to jog, run, walk or walk your dog. This includes early morning and evening hours. • For safety reasons, please do not walk/run in the middle of the streets.

While Out and About at Pelican Preserve:

Alligators have been seen along the sidewalk near the hedges on Pelican Preserve Boulevard and will be active over the next several months as they roam from pond to pond. Please use caution when walking in the dark and bring a flashlight with you when walking at night.

• Please do not ride bikes on the sidewalks. Use the bike lanes on Pelican Preserve Boulevard. When riding on the road, ride with the flow of traffic, not against it. Don’t forget your helmet! • When walking in the community, please use the sidewalks. • Help us maintain the beauty in our natural areas and please properly dispose of dog waste. Do not throw waste bags in the Preserve area. • Please do not feed the wildlife in the Preserve or in your neighborhoods. This includes birds and alligators. • For safety reasons, please do not walk/run in the middle of the streets. We encourage Pelican Preserve Residents to wear name tags to Pelican Preserve events, functions and get-togethers. Now is a great time to order a name tag! To order your name tag, please contact Beverly Hoffmann at (239) 313-6332 or via email at ronbevhoffmann@ comcast.net or Mary Jo Nardello at (239) 225-6733 or via email at [email protected]. Your name and neighborhood will be printed on the name tag. The color of your name tag will be specific to your neighborhood. The cost for each name tag is $8.50 and payment is due at the time of ordering.

Pelican Preserve Update NEW! 2014 Pelican Preserve Dog Tags Now Available If you are interested in utilizing the dog park, you must register your dog at the Town Center’s Administrative Office. Once your dog is registered, we will issue a special tag for your dog and provide you with the gate code. You are welcome to complete the required forms at home and bring them to the Office. Forms may be found in the Administrative Office and on the Pelican Preserve website under Forms and Documents. Please note that the Dog Park will be closed the first Monday of every month for routine maintenance.

New Payment Address for Pelican Preserve Town Center All payments to Pelican Preserve Town Center should be mailed to: Pelican Preserve Town Center, Dept# 3301, P.O. Box 310754, Boca Raton, FL 334310754. This change is for the Pelican Preserve Town Center only, not Pelican Preserve Golf Club. If you are using bill pay through your bank, please advise your bank of the new address to ensure your payments go to the correct address. New remittance envelopes are enclosed with your statements if you wish to pay by check. If you are currently paying online through the Town Center website, no changes need to be made.

State of the Club for the Town Center and Golf Club are available online. Log in to the Residents and/ or Golf Members websites and click on State of the Club under the Welcome section.

2013 WCI Angel Tree Benefiting Boys & Girls Clubs of America Help WCI Communities and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America make this holiday season special for many children! GolfNet Handicap System The Golf Shop hopes many of you have used, or shown how to use, our new version of GolfNet. Starting November 1, all tournament entries will be processed either online at the new website (www.gafgolf.org), at the handicap posting stations located in Loons Bar, or across from the fitness center on the first floor of the clubhouse. For those Members who have not tried the new GolfNet handicap system, here are a few tips to get started: • The new version of GolfNet is at www.gafgolf.org. Please make sure to bookmark this new web address. • If you logged in to GolfNet before the update, your username and password remain the same.





If you’ve never logged in to GolfNet • The default username is: PPGC then your golf number with either a 1 or 2 at the end. The primary member is 1 and the secondary member is 2. • Your password is your last name in all capital letters. Upon login, look for the green header labeled “Events.” Move your curser over this text and you will see another line appear. Select “Club Signup and Results.” To sign up for an event look below the tee times and results and you will see “Sign Up.” All the events eligible for registration are listed. Just click on the event you want to play and click on the submit button.

Thank You for Supporting the Blood Drive – From Bob & Carol Levine Thank you to all our friends for supporting the blood drive held in November in honor or our grandson, Gabe. The cards, gifts, food and prayers you all have given have touched our hearts. A total of 31 units were donated in Gabe’s name. We were absolutely amazed and overwhelmed by the turnout. In the past, the most units donated at Pelican Preserve was 14. Gabe continues to battle the leukemia and has good and bad days. However, we continue to pray and are thankful for each day! Guest Waiver Reminder All guests of Residents are required to complete a Guest Waiver at the Front Desk of Soleil before working out. This includes participating in any classes. A daily $5 guest fee will be charged to the Resident account or guests can pay cash when checking in. Yoga guest fees $10. Equipment Sign Out Croquet, badminton, basketballs, volleyballs, playground balls and bats are available for sign out. Horseshoes and lawn bowling equipment are located in the storage box out on the green. Please sign out equipment in the book located in the Aquatics Office and sign it back in when you are finished using it. Intro to Step and TRX classes coming in January. Watch for details.

Wednesday Night Movies return in January! This series is beginning its 11th season and is presented through the efforts of four Resident volunteer couples! The Wednesday Night Movies, which feature critically-acclaimed, independent and documentary films will return on January 8, 2014, and will continue each Wednesday (except event nights) through the season at 4:00pm and 7:00pm. These films, which often receive major awards from organizations such as the Academy Awards, the Sundance Film Festival, the Golden Globes and numerous foreign film festivals are often limited in release to major cities such as New York and Los Angeles and are rarely shown in Florida. This year’s features will range from comedies to serious dramas to riveting documentaries. In addition, most presentations will include a short from the golden age of American animation of the 1940’s. Enjoy them each Wednesday right here in Pelican Preserve.
