General Information Student Planner: The planner is a helpful tool for students, parents, counselors & teachers to track homework assignments, projects, progress and behavior. You can choose to buy elsewhere or from us for $5. PE Uniforms: PE uniforms are available for $20 ($10 each for shirts or shorts). All students are required to dress for PE during their PE class. You also have the option of purchasing your own SOLID grey PE shirts & SOLID black shorts. Volunteer Process: Any parents or guardians interested in volunteering at the school during the school year can complete the process online at www.beamentor.org Volunteers are always welcome. PMS staff will be available to answer any questions.

2016—2017 7th & 8th Grade Orientation Information

Promotion Contribution (Optional): Promotional activities are based on what the current 8th grade parents can plan if and when funds are available. If you would like to make a contribution of $25 for these activities, you can do so now or in the future. Yearbook Pre‐Sales Students will be able to pre-order their 16-17 yearbook at the reduced price of $35. You will need to SAVE your receipt and present it in order to pick up your Yearbook in the Spring. PTSA Parent, Teacher, Student Association members will be available to present information about becoming a member. PE Locks: All students should acquire a lock for their PE locker. The PE lock can be purchased from Blue‐Sky Sports on San Pablo Avenue. When purchasing the lock, inform them that you are from Pinole Middle School and they will ensure you are given the correct lock. The locks are district approved, and can be opened by a school master key for safety reasons. Non-district approved locks may be cut off and you will not be reimbursed for them. Lockers: Lockers are available for all students who complete and return a signed Locker Use Policy Agreement, which can be found in the packet you received. Lockers will be assigned the irst few weeks of school. We look forward to an exciting new school year. Feel free to contact the of ice if you have any questions.

Welcome Students, Parents & Guardians Welcome to the 2016‐2017 school year. Orienta on is scheduled for Tuesday, August 9th for 7th graders and Thursday, August 11th for 8th graders Student appointment mes are listed below. Please keep to this scheduled appointment. If you are unable to make the scheduled me, please contact the office and we will do our best to reschedule. It is absolutely impera ve that all students a end the orienta on. We require that a parent/guardian a end orienta on with their student. Please plan to be here on me and allow at least 1 hour for your visit, as students will be required to visit various sta ons. In this packet, you are receiving vital informa on and will need to com‐ plete the required paperwork prior to your arrival. These documents will need to be turned in neatly and in the envelope that it arrived in.

(Gym) All parents will need complete forms NEATLY and submit upon arrival to Station 1. Once approved, you’ll get a check off list for the remaining stations. Your list will get initialed upon your visit to the station. Station 2:

Lunch Program App.

(Gym) All families are asked to complete a lunch application to see if your family quali ies for free or reduced lunch. You can also complete the application online at www.applyforlunch.com ID Photos

(Dance Room) Students will be photographed for their school ID. IDs will be distributed to each student on the irst day of school during the student’s advisory class. All students are required to wear the approved lanyard and photo ID every day while on campus. Station 6:

Immunization Veri ication

(Gym) All 7th grade students are required to have up to date immunizations. Please bring a COPY of your child’s immunization records on the day of orientation. The school’s health aid will be available to verify that all is current. Any student without a T‐Dap immunization after the 7 th birthday will be EXCLUDED from school until veri ication is presented. This station will not be present during 8th grade orientation.

Please submit the order form to the cashier for all items you wish to purchase. Once your form is complete, please proceed to make your payment and receive your items. At this time, only cash & checks are accepted.

Textbook Pick Up

(Library) Students will be required to submit their completed check off list to the textbook clerk. At this station, they will then be given their textbooks and workbooks for the year. Students are expected to keep their books in the condition they are received. If books are returned damaged at the end of the year, a fee will be assessed. If you do not submit a completed emergency card, you will not receive books.

Students at Pinole Middle School are encouraged to “dress for success”. This means that students should wear clothing appropriate to learning and conducive to academic excellence.

I will evaluate the validity of information presented online and understand that not everything online is true. I agree to document and properly cite all information acquired through online sources including but not limited to images, videos and music.

Respect for Self and Others I will not upload or publish personal information, private communications or photos of other people without permission. I will respond thoughtfully to the opinions, ideas and values of others. I will not send or share mean or inappropriate emails or texts.
