las puertas del verano, todo el que es alguien en el Reino Unido acude al Hipódromo de Ascot. Allí, a solo seis millas del Castillo de Windsor, se celebra, desde 1711, la carrera de caballos más famosa del mundo: Royal Ascot, formada por varias competiciones, que este año se celebra del 14 al 18 de junio. A ella acuden cada año, puntuales a la cita, la reina de Inglaterra y varios miembros de la Familia Real británica. La soberana incluso compite con sus propios ejemplares de purasangre. En 2013, Isabel II vio cómo su caballo Estimate se hacía con la Gold Cup, la principal carrera de las que se celebran durante el Royal Ascot. Pero esta cita es mucho más que un evento deportivo en el que hay en juego 6,5 millones de libras en premios –casi 8,5 millones de euros–: es el principal evento social del Reino Unido. Un lugar donde la aristocracia luce sus mejores galas: chaqué y chistera para ellos, espectaculares sombreros y tocados

VI VIR E N PAL MA La experiencia de cada turista es única e irrepetible. Cada persona vive y siente de manera diferente su propio viaje. Pero, ¿puede una instantánea capturar ese océano de sensaciones en el que a menudo nos sumergimos durante ese particular y personalísimo proceso? ¡Sin duda que sí! La foto que ilustra este reportaje es de Pablo Sabater y es la ganadora absoluta del concurso de fotografía Palma 365, un certamen que invitaba a los ciudadanos de Palma a expresar en una instantánea lo que para ellos significa Vivir en Palma. La prueba se convocó el mes de febrero y los premios se dieron a conocer a finales de abril; en total concurrieron 570 participantes con un total de 2.000 fotografías, todas ellas únicas y originales. Un gran número de imágenes y de experiencias resumidas en una sola imagen; pero solo una, la de Pablo Sabater, se llevó la palma por ser la que mejor capturaba y transmitía el espíritu mediterráneo y cosmopolita de la capital balear: el correfoc, un espectáculo pirotécnico de calle donde el fuego ancestral es el gran protagonista, reflejo de una sociedad que adora la luz y la vida, entendida como una experiencia compartida. Palma es una experiencia de todo el año y la fotografía el mejor instrumento con el que expresar ese momento irrepetible que tanto nos fascina y conmueve; y que, en el caso del turista, puede ser el momento decisivo que le lleve a repetir su experiencia en nuestra ciudad.

Sentir y comunicar emociones es un gesto común hoy en día. La mayoría hemos encontrado en las redes sociales el espacio global en el que compartir y contagiar los encantos del destino turístico que hemos visitado. Y Palma tiene, en este sentido, mucho encanto. Los miembros del jurado del concurso Palma 365 han tenido en cuenta como criterio de valoración que las fotografías mostrasen una imagen moderna, dinámica, alegre, viva y cosmopolita de la ciudad, que explicasen por qué la capital balear es «la mejor ciudad del mundo para vivir». Todas ellas debían englobarse en alguna de las cinco categorías: cultura, gastronomía, deportes, compras y una última temática denominada ‘Vive Palma’. El equipo encargado de valorar y premiar las imágenes lo formaron el gerente de la Fundación Turismo, Pedro Homar; los directores generales de Turismo y Comunicación del Ayuntamiento de Palma, Alfonso Meaurio y Joan Carles Palos; el responsable de la sección de fotografía del Grupo Serra, Joan Torres; la responsable de Márketing de El Corte Inglés, Rosa Romagosa; el director de la agencia Mandarina Creativos, Juan Gavilán, y Ana Rosa Rivero, del Departamento de Comunicación de Logitravel. Por eso, Mercé se lanza en su nuevo disco –Doy la cara, recién salido al mercado– a versionar algunos temas del pop junto a voces actuales que poco tienen que ver con el flamenco. Canta Volver junto a Andrés Calamaro o Por el bulevar de los sueños rotos con Álvaro Urquijo, pero en el álbum también colaboran Joaquín Sabina, Pablo Alborán o Alejandro Sanz. La gira de presentación empieza el 2 de julio en Madrid y seguirá por Málaga, Ceuta, Almería, Jerez, A Coruña, Valencia y Bilbao. / José Mercé

That’s why Mercé has launched his new album, the recently released Doy la cara (I Show My Face), to give us his own take on pop classics alongside some of today’s voices that have little to do with Flamenco. He sings Volver alongside Andrés Calamaro and Por el bulevar de los sueños rotos with Álvaro Urquijo, but the album also includes collaborations with Joaquín Sabina, Pablo Alborán and Alejandro Sanz. The promotional tour starts in Madrid and moves on to Ceuta, Almería, Jerez, A Coruña, Valencia and Bilbao.

El avión es fundamental en su vida. «En cuanto estoy un mes quieta ya me empieza a entrar el gusanillo… Eso sí, me encanta volver a casa». Con tantos kilómetros a sus espaldas, ya es una experta en aeropuertos: «Si el viaje es largo, embarco un maletón grande y llevo conmigo una mochila pequeña con mi ‘kit de supervivencia’: mi almohada de cuello, ropa cómoda, algo de abrigo porque suele hacer frío, música, libros…». En viajes cortos, maleta de mano y mochila con lo más necesario. «¡Y nunca llevo jamón ni botes grandes! Ya me quitaron mi perfume una vez y aprendí la lección. Lo mismo me ocurrió con el jamón. Una y no más».

Cecilia Gessa never stops. She has just finished filming a feature length film in Mexico and plays Lucía Cadenas in the series La Embajada (The Embassy) on Antena 3. The airplane is a fundamental feature in her life. «When I have a quiet month I start to get restless… although I do love to go home too.» With so many air miles behind her, she’s an airport expert: «If it’s a long flight, I take a large suitcase and carry a small backpack with my survival kit: my travel neck pillow, comfortable clothes, a warm top as it usually gets cold, music, books, etc.» For short flights it’s a carry-on case and a backpack with the necessary. «And I never take ham or big bottles! They already took my perfume from me once so I learned my lesson. The same happened with the ham. Once and never again.»

Kobe llamó la atención de los ojeadores de la NBA con solo 12 años en la liga Sonny Hill. Después de acabar el instituto, Kobe se presentó al draft de la NBA de 1996, donde fue seleccionado por los Hornets, que lo enviaron a los Lakers. Y se instaló en la soleada california, donde formó un letal dúo con Shaquille O’Neil primero y con Pau Gasol después. El 13 de abril jugó su último partido como profesional. Una carrera ultraexitosa que empezó

Pocos artistas en la historia del arte han utilizado la luz de una forma tan expresiva como Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio (1571-1610). Su manejo del claroscuro, lleno de fuerza y dramatismo, y la apasionada imaginería religiosa que desarrolló en sus obras, cautivó a sus contemporáneos y originó un círculo de seguidores incluso fuera de Roma, la ciudad donde más trabajó. En pleno auge del barroco, un grupo de artistas originarios de Flandes y Francia viajaron a Italia, se dejaron seducir por el estilo de Caravaggio y luego lo trasladaron a sus países de origen. En seis meses ha estrenado La novia, que le supuso la tercera candidatura al Goya a la mejor actriz de su carrera, y ha entrado en el universo Almodóvar gracias a su papel en Julieta, el último largometraje del director manchego. Por si fuera poco, ahora, el 17 de junio, estrena su primer proyecto internacional, Capitán Kóblic, un drama protagonizado por Ricardo Darín con la dictadura militar argentina como trasfondo. Y tiene pendiente de estreno la novena temporada de la serie Águila Roja. Inma no para.

¿Qué te atrajo del proyecto de Capitán Kóblic? Soy una admiradora del cine que se hace en Latinoamérica y me gusta el cine argentino. Además, el director, Sebastián Borensztein, había ganado un Goya con una película anterior, Un cuento chino, y esta película significaba viajar a Argentina para trabajar y compartir historia con Ricardo Darín. Es la primera vez que trabajas con Ricardo Darín. Sí, y espero que no sea la última. Es la primera vez que salgo de España a rodar y ha sido toda una experiencia. Imagínate, entrar a trabajar en Argentina de la mano de Ricardo es hacerlo por la puerta grande. ¿Cómo ha sido trabajar con él? Pues un regalo. Es un actor absolutamente brillante, pero también es un hombre muy divertido, te hace el trabajo muy fácil. Yo estaba muy lejos, pero me hizo sentirme como en casa. Me cuidó, me ayudó y lo pasé muy bien con él. Es una de esas personas que cuando la conoces quieres que se quede ya para siempre y encontrártela a lo largo de tu vida muchas veces. ¿Cómo es tu personaje en la película, Nancy? Mi personaje y el de Kóblic son dos fugitivos. Él está huyendo de su responsabilidad porque moralmente no puede enfrentarse a ese ‘vuelo de la muerte’ y se esconde en un pueblo. Y Nancy intenta huir de una situación que la tiene absolutamente esclavizada. En esa huida de ambos, se encuentran y,

IN SIX MONTHS SHE’S PREMIERED THE BRIDE, which saw her third Goya nomination for Best Actress and she’s entered the Almodóvar universe thanks to her role in Julieta, the La Mancha-born director’s latest feature. And as if that weren’t enough, June 17 sees her first international screening, Kóblic, a drama starring Ricardo Darín with the Argentine dictatorship as the backdrop. And there’s still premiere of the ninth season of Águila Roja (The Red Eagle) to come. Inma can’t stop. What attracted you to the Kóblic project? I’m an admirer of Latin American cinema in general and I like Argentine cinema. What’s more, the director Sebastián Borensztein had won a Goya with a previous film, Chinese Take-Away, and this film meant travelling to work with and share a story with Ricardo Darín. It’s the first time you’ve worked with Ricardo Darín. Yes, and hopefully not the last. It was the first time I left Spain to shoot and it was a real experience. Imagine, to arrive in Argentina at the hand of Ricardo is to really do it in style. What was it like to work with him? Well it was a gift. He’s an absolutely brilliant actor, but he’s also really fun guy and he makes work easy. I was a long way away but he made me feel at home. He looked after me and helped me and I had a great time with him. He’s one of these people that when you know them, you want them to stick around for-

de alguna manera, se salvan el uno al otro. Has dicho que siempre buscas algún ingrediente de ti para darle a los personajes. ¿Qué le has dado a tu personaje en Capitán Kóblic? Mis instrumentos son mi voz, mi cuerpo, mis ojos, mi alma, mis recuerdos, mi esencia… Eso es lo que yo pongo de mí, pero no intento buscar en los personajes cosas mías porque es complicado. Además, en este caso no tengo nada que ver con el personaje. No busco similitudes nunca entre mi personalidad y el personaje con el que tengo que trabajar. ¿Cómo preparaste el acento argentino? Además, es un acento del interior del país. Sí, era un acento bastante concreto. Fue muy curioso porque cuando Sebastián [el director] me llamó y me dijo que quería que hiciera ese personaje, que era argentino, le dije: «¿Cómo sabes que yo puedo hacerlo?». Contacté con una actriz, Carolina Román, que es argentina del interior y me dio algunas pautas de fonética. Yo la grababa, y luego ella me corregía a mí. Cuando llegué al rodaje, Sebastián estaba muy preocupado por el tema del acento y me decía que me fuera soltando. Pero se quedó muy sorprendido y está muy contento con el resultado. Sebastián dice que me tiene que enviar todos los e-mails dee gente que le pregunta que de dónde he salido, si de algún pueblecito por ahí del interior de Argentina [risas]. ¿Cómo ha sido el rodaje allí? Este ha sido, quizá, de los rodajes ajes más complicados que he tenido ido después de La novia. Rodamos mos en julio, que allí es invierno. no. Estábamos en San Antonio de Areco, un pueblo a poco más de una hora de Buenos Aires. No o paraba de llover, hubo inundaciones y nunca había plan dee rodaje porque el tiempo empeoraba todo el rato. Era una situación un poco extraña para mí. Pero conseguí montar a caballo. Allí son de una raza más bajita y eso me permitió mitió tener más facilidad para montar y desmontar esmontar [risas]. Además, gran parte del el rodaje fue con Óscar Martínez, que interprenterpreta al comisario Velarde, un maestro de la intepretación. Ha sido una na experiencia muy buena. ever and come across many times in your life. What’s Nancy, your character in the film like? My character and Kóblic are fugitives. He’s running from his responsibility because, morally, he can’t confront this death flight and he hides out in a village. And Nancy is trying to run from a situation where she is completely enslaved. As they flee, they both meet each other and, in some way, save each other. You’ve said that you always look for some ingredient in yourself to give to your characters. What have you given to your character in Kóblic? My instruments are my voice, my body, my eyes, my soul, my memories, my essence… That’s what I give of myself, but I don’t look for elements of myself in the characters because that’s complicated. Also, in this case, I’ve nothing to do with this character. I never look for similarities between my personality and the character I have to work with. How did you prepare the Argentine accent? What’s more, it’s an accent from the interior of the country. Yes, it was a very specific accent. It was curious because when Sebastián [the director] called me and told me he wanted me to play this character, who was Argentine, I said, “How do you know I can do it?” I contacted an actress, Carolina Román, who’s from the Argentine interior and she gave me some phonetic pointers. I recorded her and then she corrected me. When I arrived at the shoot, Sebastián was very worried about the accent and he told me to be more confident with it. But he was very surprised and he’s really happy with the result. Sebastián said he would have to send me all the emails from people asking where I was from, if I was from some little village in the Argentine interior [laughs]. What was filming there like? This was perhaps the most complicated shoot I’ve done apart from The Bride. We shot in July so it was winter there. We were in San Antonio de Areco, a village a little over an hour south of Buenos Aires. It didn’t stop raining, there were floods and there was no shooting plan because the weather just kept getting worse all the time. It was a bit of a strange situation for me. But I managed to ride a horse. They have a breed of horses there that are shorter so that made it easier for me to mount and dismount [laughs]. Also, a great deal of the filming was with Óscar Martínez, who plays Comisario Velarde, a fantastic actor. It was a great experience.

Yo llegué con una beca de estudios para seguir formándome como actriz de teatro musical, pero en realidad yo no había trabajado nunca hasta que llegué a Madrid. Había trabajado algo de camarera, y es cierto que estuve trabajando en una tienda de ropa, pero fueron seis meses. No estuve más porque luego hice el casting para el musical Hoy no me puedo levantar y desde entonces ya no he parado en estos once últimos años. Me siento muy afortunada. Hoy no me puedo levantar fue uno de los bombazos de la cartelera de espectáculos en España. ¿Cómo fue el casting? Multitudinario. Se presentaron miles de personas. Además, en aquel momento no era muy fácil hacer pruebas, así que me presenté pensando que escogerían a alguien conocido. Pero no fue así, querían caras nuevas. Fue mi primera oportunidad y una de las experiencias más bonitas que yo he tenido en esta profesión. Fue un gran éxito y revolucionó el concepto 40

You’re on a roll at the moment: you premiere two films a year, you’re continuing with Águila Roja and you’re also in the theater. When do you rest? Well. I’m resting a little right now. Last year I had no summer because I was shooting Julieta with Almodóvar and right I after I went to Argentina. This is supposed to be rest, so I’ll travel and live. You appeared in Julieta, Pedro Almodóvar’s last film. What’s the director like up close? I had a really good time on set. I really connect with his sense of humor. But, is it not intimidating to be in an Almodóvar film? Well, it’s true that at the start, in auditions, you can get a little nervous and you need to forget about everything it means. But I’m lucky in that I settle down with my feet on the ground pretty quickly and from there on I enjoy it. You say that when you first arrived in Madrid, you had to work in a clothes store. What was the start of your career like? Well it was great. I arrived on a student’s grant to continue training as a musical theater actress, but I had never really worked until I came to Madrid. I had worked a little as a waitress, and it’s true that I worked in a clothes store, but that was for six months. I didn’t stay longer because then I did the audition for the musical Hoy no me puedo levantar (I Can’t Get Up Today) and ever since then I haven’t stopped for the last eleven years. I feel very lucky. Hoy no me puedo levantar was one of the biggest box office successes in Spain. What was the audition like? Overcrowded. Thousands of people turned up. What’s more, it wasn’t so easy to do tests then because I showed up thinking they would choose someone well known. But it wasn’t like that, they wanted new faces. It was my first opportunity and one of the best experiences I’ve had in this profession. It was a huge success and it really revolutionized the concept of

in the 70s and 80s, visited their markets, bought their craftwork or sat with them to watch the sunsets, while the locals sat to watch them all with curiosity and still some surprise, which would increase with the following waves of individuals that came to join the island’s biodiversity. Among the illustrious visitors to the island the musicians always stood out. Pink Floyd and Cat Stevens first, Frank Zappa, Joni Mitchell and Mike Oldfield later, all soaked up the creative energy of the island and, in return, put it on the map. Big concerts and festivals acted as new attractions and transmitters of a message of peace, tolerance and fun as Ibizan as the ethereal white Adlib fashion. The classic clubs such as Pacha were joined by others like Ku and Amnesia. And then came the explosion and the madness of the late 90s, when savvy British dance party promoters joined the terms clubber and charter and obtained two or three-day tour packages, flight, party and flight back to the foggy north. In this way, new tribes were added to the population of the island, which, welcoming as ever, made them a niche next to the old hippies and their offspring of the age of Aquarius, the hosts of passersby from the Imserso during the low season and the rich kids delighting in showing off their tanned bodies and white linen. This hodgepodge of happy people is only possible in a place like Ibiza, with

Grandes hogueras, ropas ceremoniales, vistosos tocados de plumas, escudos de piel de bisonte y tomahawks ensangrentados, cabelleras arrancadas… Así imaginamos la danza de la victoria de los sioux, minneconjous y cheyennes aquel 25 de junio de 1876 en Little Bighorn. Así la imaginamos, pero así no fue. Mientras los 3.000 guerreros de Toro Sentado, Caballo Loco y Lluvia en el Rostro acaban con los últimos hombres del general Custer –esa mítica piña de vivos y muertos en torno a la bandera–, las mujeres, ancianos y niños desmontan los tipis y recogen sus pertenencias a toda prisa. Y el enorme campamento se pone en marcha. Todos saben que no hay tiempo para celebrar la victoria. Que los soldados van a volver. Y que su venganza será rápida y terrible. Lo saben por experiencia. EN LAS SALINAS DEL CABO DE Nuestra ruta por el Parque Natural del Cabo de Gata-Níjar comienza a poniente, en la inmensa playa virgen de las Amoladeras. Su Centro de Recepción ofrece al visitante una primera toma de contacto con los singulares valores de este espacio protegido. Cerca, hacia levante, la gran playa urbana del Cabo de Gata esconde tras sus dunas unas salinas, en las que los romanos hacían salazones, que hoy producen 40.000 toneladas de sal al año y que se han convertido en un santuario para cien especies de aves. En el extremo meridional de la playa encontramos la Iglesia de las Salinas, solitaria, como caída del cielo. Estas playas mueren a los pies de los acantilados volcánicos del Cabo de Gata. Su faro –al que se accede por una carretera no apta para viajeros con vértigo–, erigido sobre las ruinas del castillo de San Francisco de Paula, remata el abismo de 50 metros que se precipita sobre Las Sirenas, un conjunto de rocas negras y crespas que crecen como flores raras en el azul marino. 70

At the southern end of the beach we find the church of Las Salinas, standing alone as if it had been dropped from the sky. These beaches die at the feet of the volcanic cliffs of Cabo de Gata. The lighthouse, accessed via a road not suitable for travelers prone to vertigo, is built on the ruins of the castle of San Francisco de Paula, perched atop a 50 foot drop to Las Sirenas, a set of black and jagged rocks that seem that grow like rare flowers out of the blue sea. Returning to the cape, the road offers hundreds of postcards of the more well known beaches and the park’s most recondite coves. They include Cala Rajá; Cala del Carbón; Cala Grande; Cala Chica; Playa de la Media Luna; Playa del Mónsul, with its dark sand, vibrant dunes and tongue-like mound of dried lava that resembles a beached whale; and Playa de los Genoveses, with the most beautiful bay in the Natural Park… After all this, we can restore our energy level in the village of San José with rustic local staples

Al volver el cabo, la carretera ofrece cientos de postales de las playas más conocidas y las caletas más recónditas del parque: la Cala Rajá, la del Carbón, la Grande y la Chica; la Playa de la Media Luna; la del Mónsul, de arena oscura, dunas vivas y una lengua de lava como una vieja ballena varada; la de los Genoveses, con la bahía más hermosa del Parque Natural… Tras esta, en el pueblo de San José podemos recuperar fuerzas con un ajo colorao, patatas a lo pobre, gurullos o sardinas fritas. Luego seguimos hacia Las Negras y Agua Amarga, deteniéndonos en Los Escullos para contemplar la mayor duna fosilizada del parque, formada hace cien mil años, y el castillo de San Felipe; y para trepar hasta Los Frailes, los volcanes más altos de la zona. Cuando la marea está baja, desde Los Escullos se puede caminar hasta la Isleta del Moro, un pueblo de casitas blancas, barcas de pescadores y con un hermoso palmeral. Cerca, en el interior, el valle de Rodalquilar es un antiguo cráter cuya única salida al mar es la playa virgen del Playazo. El jardín botánico del Albardinal, un oasis en Rodalquilar, y las antiguas minas de alumbre y oro de la zona son buena excusa para ir tierra adentro. En el interior aún nos aguarda Níjar, un municipio de casas blancas y vestigios de la herencia árabe en sus aljibes, en la iglesia mudéjar de Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación y en su artesanía: coloristas jarapas y cerámicas, y austera industria del esparto. En los alrededores de Níjar se desmorona el Cortijo del Fraile, 72

We continue on towards Las Negras and Agua Amarga, stopping at Los Escullos to see the park’s largest fossilized dune, formed a hundred thousand years ago, and the castle of San Felipe, and climb as far as Los Frailes, the area’s highest volcanoes. During low tide, you can walk from Los Escullos to Isleta del Moro, a village of white-washed houses and fishing boats whose only access to the sea is by the unspoiled Playazo beach. The Albardinal Botanic Garden, an oasis in Rodalquilar, and the old alum and gold mines of the area are good excuse to head inland. The interior also offers Níjar, with more white-washed houses and vestiges of the Arab legacy in its aljibes, the Mudéjar church of Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación and local crafts: colorful ceramics, jarapa rugs and the traditional esparto industry. Outside Níjar is the Cortijo del Fraile: a Fuera del Parque se extiende el Desierto de Tabernas, donde se rodaron entre los años 60 y 70 muchos westerns. / Beyond the park limits stretches the great expanse of the Tabernas Desert, where many westerns were filmed in the 60s and 70s.

Más y mejores posibilidades, porque a Nueva York volará también, como ya lo hace a Miami, el nuevo Boeing 787 Dreamliner, un avión que no solo revoluciona la forma de viajar, sino que permite reducir el tiempo de vuelo. Está previsto que este B787 empiece a volar al aeropuerto JFK a finales de año por lo que, hasta entonces, esta ruta se hará a bordo de uno de los Airbus 330 de Air Europa, cuya clase Business ha sido totalmente reconfigurada con los asientos flat bed. Con la espalda recta apoyada en el asiento y siguiendo un movimiento circular, mueva los hombros suavemente. El ejercicio ha de realizarse en varias direcciones: hacia adelante, hacia arriba, hacia atrás y hacia abajo, durante una secuencia de 10 veces cada uno. / Shoulder rotations. With your back straight against your seat, roll your shoulders around gently in a circular motion. The exercise should be done towards the front, up, back, and down, at least 10 times for each.

Es fundamental prestar atención a los pies. Se deben girar ambos, uno en el sentido de las manecillas del reloj y el otro al contrario, con la punta de los pies en el suelo y los tobillos izados. «Fue hacia el año 2003. Yo vendí mi barco y Xavi, que entonces trabajaba conmigo en el almacén de mantenimiento de Air Europa, me animó a enrolarme en la embarcación en la que competía –explica Toni–. Así fue como empezamos a regatear en el mismo equipo. Y así seguimos, trece años después». Xavi es el proel; Toni, el piano. Y juntos, con el resto del equipo del Sirpy, han conseguido que su barco, del armador José Matheu, un histórico de la vela mallorquina, sea uno de los más temidos de la bahía de Palma. Dos primeros puestos y dos segundos en el Torneo Princesa Sofía, dos segundos y un primero en el Palma Vela y un segundo y un tercer puesto en el Campeonato de Baleares así lo atestiguan. «Somos muy regulares –explica Xavi, ahora en dique seco por un esguince de tobillo– ; siempre quedamos en las tres primeras posiciones en nuestra categoría, la ORC3». Y así, por mucho tiempo.

«It was around the year 2003. I sold my boat and Xavi, who was working with me in the Air Europa maintenance store, encouraged me to enroll in the boat he raced with,» Toni explains. «That’s how we started to sail on the same team; and we still do, thirteen years later.» Xavi is the bowman; Toni, the pitman. And together, with the rest of the Sirpy team, they have succeeded in getting their boat, belonging to ship owner, José Matheu, a historic figure in Majorcan sailing, to be one of the most feared vessels in the Bay of Palma. Two first places and two seconds in the Princesa Sofia Tournament, two seconds and a first in the Palma Vela and a second and third place in the Baleares Championship testify to this. «We are very regular,» explains Xavi, now in dry dock with a sprained ankle. «We always come in the top three positions in our category, the ORC3». And let’s hope it continues for a long time.
