Valentina Valente, She is my dad, is a touching story about unconditional love, same sex parents, and the brave act of speaking up. The title was released on Amazon, on February 14, 2022, a date

many people use to acknowledge and to recognize and love and friendship. This book is the first of a series of stories that follow the life experiences of 8-year-old Valentina. With Valentina Valente, She is my dad, Devers hopes to spark dialogue within the Latinx community about the importance of speaking to children about family diversity and acceptance from a young age. With vibrant retro-cartoon style illustrations, this short story empowers young readers and moves adult audiences. It is a celebration of family diversity, the LGBTQIA community, and single mothers who consider themselves the father figure for their children. It is the third and latest release from author and educator Adriana Devers and intends to give a voice to the many families that are rarely represented in children’s literature. By addressing the topics of family diversity, values, self-love and acceptance, the book offers young readers creative opportunities to make a personal

connection with the story. Valentina Valente, She is my dad, is bilingual, both written and translated by Devers, and illustrated architect, graphic designer and multidisciplinary artist Adam Esquivel, Adámico. Who Is ENCS Who is ENCS?

ENCS Born on May 5th, 1983 in Pakistan, ENCS was 6 months old when his family arrived in Saint-Denis, France. When he was 13, he discovered graffiti when he was captivated by a wall of Mode 2 at the Porte de Montreuil flea market. A self-taught artist, ENCS started painting graffiti three years later

at the age of 16 and since then, paints daily on all media. Today, he lives and works in Montreuil, France, painting on canvas in his studio, or on the walls of many vacant lots and industrial wastelands. His style, heavily influenced by the pioneers of Paris and New York, is part of the tradition of dynamic, colorful and explosive lettering. Its uniqueness lies in the remarkable and meticulous work of the light, where the expert application of value creates the volume of each letter.

ENCS also has a passion for travel and painting in unusual places, such as the gates of the Sahara Desert, next to the Berrima Mosque, the 3 Kings Mosque, or on the Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro.

Kira Ermakova is from a small town in the Zheleznogorsk, Kursk region in Russia. She has been drawing and creating as far as she can remember, starting in early childhood. A favorite memory is how her love for painting began, waking

up to the smell of the paints and her father was using to painting a picture. She couldn’t resist making a smear on the picture, to make her own artistic mark. Kira grew up in a bright, creative environment and was encouraged to draw and develop her own creative process. Her parents were artists and her first teachers. Kira remembers sitting next to her father as he drew, working on her own scribbles. They kept a large collection of her drawings, from childish masterpieces to drawings from her time as a teenager in art school. Her father inspired her creative, artistic life, and she learned sewing and needlework process from her mother. Her parents gave her a start on mastering the basics of various creative directions and techniques, such as watercolor, graphics, pastel, sculpture, and her favorite- oil painting. As a child, Kira attended a children’s art studio where her mother and father taught. As a teenager, she went to art school, sometimes even skipping classes at regular school. There, she learned a basic knowledge of painting, drawing, composition, sculpture and art history. Her drawings were constantly taken to exhibitions, and Kira was constantly participating in regional competitions and exhibitions where she almost always took

first place. A few years after defending her diploma with honors, her retiring art teacher requested that she become a replacement for her as a teacher at the art school, but life had other plans. Kira’s time and energy was devoted to her two young children, and parenting came before creativity in her life for a period of time. While going through a difficult divorce and dealing with the stresses of being a single parent, Kira’s

creative work was restricted to a few projects and pieces here and there. She painted oil paintings, made designs for New Year’s packaging, painted walls and street facades to order, and illustrated a book. Eventually, her creative spirit allowed her to find work, first as a designer for the production and manufacture of all types of packaging, then switching to a teacher of additional education at the Center for Children’s Creativity, where she taught school-age children the art of painting on fabric (Batik). She also worked part-time as a set designer and assistant director and came up with scenery and costumes, creating them with her own hands. She is cur-

rently working as a designer for a company that she worked at before. Along with work and raising her teenaged sons, Kira still makes time for being creative and painting and hopes to devote more time to her art after they finish school next year. With her creations, Kira hopes to bring joy to people, delight their hearts and make them smile, and create a positive atmosphere with her work.
