Message from General Manager It’s February in Pelican Preserve, and if you ask any team member what their favorite month is, chances are they would say this month! Activity levels are always high in February, historically, and this year is no different. It’s also a month full of great events, cooler weather, and our Residents and Members always seem to be smiling in February. (Probably because they’re watching the weather reports up north!) Like every month in Pelican Preserve, we have a lot of great activities planned so make sure you pick up a copy of the monthly newsletter so you have all of the most recent information. Town Center and Community Update At the end of January we held a Development Update Meeting in the Magnolia Room. Thank you to all of the Residents who attended this meeting. The outcome was very positive and we were pleased to see so much Resident support. At this meeting we were excited to share an update on the community and proposed changes to the Pelican Preserve DRI (Development of Regional Impact). WCI Communities is requesting to bring an additional 191 acres back into the Pelican Preserve Development in an effort to meet our 2,500 home build-out cap. With the continuing upward trend in single family home sales, we are in need of more acreage to meet this demand as we have reassigned some multifamily sites to single family sites. In addition to the development update, we also shared some exciting expansion plans for the Town Center facilities. Upon approval to our DRI amendment, we will begin permitting and construction of another facility located in the general area of the beach volleyball court. This new facility will include poolside alfresco dining and bar service as well as 3,000 sq. ft. of group exercise space. Some additional planned interior renovations include expanded cardio and strength training, and expanded card room space. These renovations will double the group exercise, cardio and card room spaces! The plan also includes another outdoor pool which will give us more opportunity for aquatic-based programming, lap swimming and recreation. If you were not able to attend this meeting and have questions, please contact me at (239) 985-1780 for an appointment. Later this month we will begin some additional renovations on the Pelican Lounge, which will improve the presence and atmosphere of that area. During this time there might be a few interruptions to the Pelican Lounge availability. Stay tuned for further information and a detailed schedule on this project! 10th Annual WCI Tennis Club Challenge The 10th Annual WCI Tennis Club Challenge will be held on March 15 at Pelican Preserve at 9:00am in Fort Myers. This event is one unique Lifestyle benefit of living in a WCI community as tennis players from the WCI family of Clubs will compete for the traveling trophy. We invite you to attend the tournament and cheer on your home team and check out the action! Golf Club Update We had a great January despite the cold weather! We had record attendance at our Winter Social and Italian Night events and heard nothing but positive feedback! All of our golf events were very well attended and we’re receiving good reviews of our golf course conditions. If you have any questions, comments or concerns on the golf course please contact me. Russell, David and I frequently spend time with Members on the golf course reviewing various concerns. We really enjoy this one-on-one interaction and find that the outcome is always positive. We’d like to extend a special thank you to our Pelican Preserve Golf Club Ambassadors: Joe Halizak, Marty and Kay Mikulas, John and Caryl Nash, Joe and Sue Geshel, Chuck and Carol Mayer, Ed and Vicky White, Dave Maddalena, Andy Pederson, Trudy Fletcher, and Carl and Adrianne Everhart. These Members go above and beyond to assist us with touring new prospects, acclimating prospects to the golf course and getting new Members actively involved in the Club’s social scene. We greatly appreciate the engagement these Members have in the Club and in sharing the Pelican Preserve experience!

Thank You from the LGA! Thank you to the ladies who participated in the Solheim Cup golf event on January 9, which was also a fundraiser benefiting Partners for Breast Cancer Care. The ladies raised $1,557 for this local non-profit agency that funds breast care procedures such as screening, diagnostic testing, surgery and treatment for underserved Lee County women and men at no cost to them. LGA Member Gail Mills, who chaired the event stated, “I feel very proud of all of the ladies in the LGA. This money will help make a difference in peoples’ lives right here in our county.” Gail also expressed appreciation for the nice door prizes donated to the event by our Golf Shop. There were 80 ladies who participated in the Solheim Cup tournament with a format that split the field into two teams: the Pink team with Wanda Michmerhuizen as their captain, and the White team led by Jane Kruse.
