2021 ROSÉ, LAUGHING PIG The nose is strawberry and saline along with rain-drenched gravel and notes of white pepper and herb. The palate entry reminds me of Christmas spiced candy with notes of clove, apple and peach skin. The core is compact showing some serious structure and nicely-integrated acidity on the finish. This should be on every Thanksgiving table. Drink 2022 - 2024. 2021 PINOT GRIS The nose is apple and white blossoms with faint hints of conifer needles and honeycomb. The palate entry is delicate yellow fruit and spice with a core of chalk and slightly viscous pear and plum that persists through the finish. Drink 2022 - 2027. 2020 CHARDONNAY, THE WILD BEE The nose is toasted lemon and vanilla bean backed by notes of pineapple. The palate is sleek peach, yellow citrus and baking spice with toasted grains in the core. It finishes with a fine brioche and beautiful water-like acidity. Drink 2022 - 2028. 2019 PINOT NOIR, HOUSE WINE The nose is dried plum, herb with an underlying earthiness and oxidized iron. The palate entry is firm and compact with a core of lavender and licorice finishing with dry textured tobacco and black cherry. Drink 2022 - 2025. 2020 PINOT NOIR The nose is black tea, herb, honey, clay, and ripe plums. The palate entry is dry and lean with subtle dried fruit layering in the core finishing with singed lavender and blue fruits. Despite the challenges to make red wines of any relative quality in this region during 2020 due to the fires, Brian Marcy managed to craft a pretty reasonable wine. Drink 2022 - 2024. 2016 SYRAH, FUNK ESTATE VINEYARD The nose is violet, nectarine, black pepper and carbonized meat. The palate entry is dense, saturated blueberry and plum with a core of cassis and peppercorn finishing with subtle cinnamon-baked apple. Drink 2022 - 2030. 2019 SYRAH, FUNK ESTATE VINEYARD The nose is plum and blackberry with underlying stone and black spice rub. The palate entry is lively and focused violet, blackberry and peppercorn leading to a supple core of bright currant and ripe vine berries finishing with mouth-coating acidity. Drink 2022 - 2032.
