FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK COMPASSION AND HEALING

Compassion is not learned without suffering. Unless we have suffered and wept, we really don’t understand what compassion is, nor can we comfort someone who is suffering. Unless we have walked in darkness, we can’t help wanderers to find their way. But if we have suffered, we become pathfinders for others. And it is by reaching out to others, that we ourselves are healed. Jesus bore the marks of our violent world on his body. Those wounds were the proof of his love. They were the mortal wounds the Good Shepherd picked up in caring for his sheep. The wounds of Jesus are a source of consolation, courage, and hope to us in our sufferings. By his wounds we are healed.

COMPASION Y CURACION

La compasión no se aprende sin sufrimiento. Al menos que hayamos sufrido y llorado no podemos entender lo que es la compasión realmente, tampoco podemos consolar a quienes están sufriendo. Al menos que hayamos caminado en tinieblas, no podemos ayudar al vagabundo a encontrar su camino. Pero si hemos sufrido, podemos mostrar el camino a los demás. Es a través del acercamiento a los demás que nosotros somos sanados. Jesús llevaba las marcas de nuestro mundo violento en su cuerpo. Estas heridas eran la prueba de su amor. Fueron las heridas mortales que el Buen Pastor recibió cuando cuidaba sus ovejas. Las heridas de Jesús son para nosotros la fuente de consuelo, ánimo y esperanza durante nuestros sufrimientos. Por sus heridas hemos sido sanados.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY FR. HECTOR Father Héctor will be celebrating 11 years as a Claretian Priest on Saturday, May 24. We would like to honor Fr. Héctor on that very special day. We will have a celebration of his Anniversary after the 4:00 pm Mass that Saturday. The Parish Council will be heading up festivities. Please plan on attending this wonderful event. PARENTING TEENS CLASS You are invited to a workshop that will focus on strengthening your relationship with your teenager. Help you son/daughter to make better decisions about his/her relationships. This abstinence based program is scheduled from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm on May 12, 14, 19 & 21. The program is free to attend and snacks will be provided. The program is for teens and their parents. A $25.00 gift card will be given to participants in the program.
