To receive the maximum benefit from the Gene Companion App, it is essential to enter all your information in the following sections: My Medications, Medical History, Allergies, and My Lifestyle. Once these areas are completed, the system uses your DNA to cross-reference our >[email protected] to research your test kit submission. My Medication Add New Medication: Step 1. From the “Profile” tab (top left), select “My Medication.” Note: Enter all medications you take, including those taken periodically. Step 2. Select the “Add New Medication” option. Enter at least three (3) characters to view medication choices.

Step 3. Select the medication/dosage that is the closest match. Step 4. Select “Yes” to confirm your selection, and the new medication will appear on your "Medication List." Note: You can select the yellow icon by the desired medication on your list to view the side effects or delete the medication. Click “Cancel” to exit the selection. Medical History Add Medical Condition: Step 1. From the “Profile” tab (top left), select “Medical History.” Note: Enter all known conditions and illnesses you are experiencing, i.e., migraines, heartburn, etc. Step 2. Select the "Add Medical Condition” option. Step 3. Enter at least three (3) characters to view medical condition choices. You can search by selecting the “Starts With” or “Contains” option by toggling the button. Step 4. Select the plus sign next to your desired selection and select “Yes” to add the Illness or Condition to your list.

Select the yellow icon by the desired illness or condition you want to remove, and then select the “Delete Condition" option. If you change your mind and do not want to delete your selection, select the “Cancel” option. Allergies Add Known Allergy: Step 1. From the “Profile” tab, select “Allergies.” Step 2. Select the “Add Allergy” option. Enter all known allergies you are experiencing, i.e., soy, pine nut, cat dander, etc. Step 3. Enter at least three (3) characters to view allergy condition choices. You can search by selecting the “Starts With” or “Contains” option by toggling the button. Step 4. Select the plus sign next to your desired selection and select “Yes” to add the allergy to your list. Note: If you need to remove an allergy from your list, select the "Allergies" tab, select the yellow icon by the desired allergy you want to remove, and then select the "Delete" option. My Lifestyle Add My Lifestyle Choices: Step 1. From the “Profile” tab, select “My Lifestyle.” Step 2. Make your selection for the three categories by toggling the (NO/YES) button; 1. Categories - “Do you Consume?”, 2. “Do you Drink?” and 3. “Lifestyle” options. See the example below. Step 3. Scroll down, answer all questions, and confirm your choices by selecting the "Save Lifestyle Information” button. Note: These are all “No/Yes” questions. To cancel entering information, press the “Cancel” button.

You can search by entering the “drugs name” and “NDC” number (National Drug Code) or by the “Barcode” found on manufacturing packaging (i.e., aspirin, cough medicine, supplements). The “Drug Warnings” selection lists any interactions you may experience in the following areas: o Drug to Gene o Drug to Drug o Drug to Lifestyle o Drug to Medical Condition o Drug to Allergy o Drug to Food The “Drug Classes” selection can be helpful if a drug conflict arises, allowing you to review alternative medications in a specific class (i.e., Mental Health, Cancer) with your prescribing physician based solely on your DNA. The “Healthcare Updates” selection provides the latest up-to-date information from the world’s most extensive medical library. It is displayed in an easy-to-read format for patients and families. The “Pandemic” selection directs you to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). It displays infectious disease outbreaks currently being reported on by the CDC.

In addition, you can search by Drug Name, National Drug Code (NDC number), and Barcode Scanner within the Gene Companion App. Search by Name: Step 1. Select “Check Medication.” Step 2. Select “Search by Name.” Step 3. Enter at least three (3) characters to view medication choices. You can search by selecting the “Starts With” or “Contains” option by toggling the button. Step 4. Start typing in the drug's name and then click your selection when satisfied. Step 5. You will have the option (if available) to “Check Interactions,” “See Side Effects,” or “Cancel.” Step 6. Select “Check Interactions,” and the system will display any conflicts based on your Profile. You can add this drug to your Profile by selecting “Add Med” or send a report directly to your medical provider for review by selecting “Send Report.” Step 7. Select “Side Effects,” and the system will display the side effects of the selected drug. After reading, click the back arrow to return to the “Check Medications” screen. Search by NDC: Step 1. Select “Search by NDC.” Step 2. Enter a valid NDC number. (i.e., 0093101042) Note: Do not enter dashes or spaces when entering this value.
