WASTE SEGREGATION

SYNOPSIS

WASTE SEGREGATION

NEED FOR WASTE SEGREGATION Sometimes when you go to any place you find that the wet waste and the dry waste are mixed and it is then difficult for the ragpickers to deal with and it would be difficult for recycling too. At our home if we implement waste segregation machine then we just have to put in the machine and it will process the mixed waste. We segregate the waste by their temperature, the temperature of dry waste and the wet waste is different and we are using it in the machine. We see that segregating waste is legally required and at our homes we are not caring for segregating wastes. If at our homes too we segregate waste we can reduce the waste, like wet waste we could make compost and then make manure of it and for the dry waste we could send it for recycling depending on the nature of the waste ( object). So it could be beneficial for the government also, in slums too people could use this project for segregating waste as this costs around 2000 rupees. This project would also create an awareness among people and would know the answers of these questions : “ why we should segregate waste ? “ “ How does it effect Nature ?

“How does it Saves money of The nation ? “

WASTE SEGREGATION

OUR PROJECT

This project uses temperature sensor to know the temperature of the object and by that the machine knows whether it is a dry waste or wet waste and then displays the results on the lcd or liquid Crystal display. This project uses Arduino system and Arduino uno is the brain of the machine which does most of the calculations. And there are 1 sensors Called Ultrasonic sensor which measures the distance of the object and so the machine knows where the object ( waste) is now and can calculate the the time it would cross the belt. The conveyor belt is the carrier of the waste and in between there are sensors which help the Arduino uno

in calculating and processing the waste.

WASTE SEGREGATION

HOW DOES IT WORK

When we switch on the machine the conveyor belt starts and when the ultrasonic sensor detects the object the conveyor belt stops and the temperature sensor starts it’s work and after getting the temperature it is sent to brain of the machine ( Arduino uno ) and the output is displayed on LCD and then the conveyor belt starts and temperature sensor is switched off. Then Brain tells the compartment motor ( dry waste and wet waste ) and motor moves the compartment according to the waste and in 1 or 2 second the waste

reaches the compartment. And Hence the waste is segregated.

WASTE SEGREGATION

HOW DID WE GET THIS IDEA At home we sometimes bymistakely mixed kitchen waste and dry waste and got scolded from parents and then we came to an idea if there would be machines for segregation then there would be no scoldings and no efforts would be taken to segregate it . Thats how we came to this idea. And then I got to know about this Inspire award manak competition and

enrolled in it.
