Fokker Terminal al 4 jaar CO2 neutraal Verduurzaming van evenementen en circulair ondernemen staan al jaren hoog op de prioriteitenlijst van de Fokker Terminal. Zo hebben ze sinds 2018 een zonnecentrale met 600 panelen op het dak liggen. Hiermee wordt circa 160.000 KWu per jaar aan stroom opgewekt en daarmee 104 ton CO2 gereduceerd. Daarnaast compenseren ze de overige CO2 uitstoot via het Klimaatfonds Den Haag.

Dit jaar participeert Fokker Terminal in de realisatie van een zonnecentrale bij Korfbalvereniging Achilles in Den Haag. Naast energietransitie en CO2 reductie hebben zij ook grote stappen gezet op het gebied van drinkwatercompensatie en afvalverwerking.

Toos van der Valk lanceert nieuwe TOOS Rosé Op maandag 13 juni vond de lancering van de nieuwe TOOS Rosé plaats. Deze lancering werd feestelijk gevierd in de tuin van Toos in Nuland. De familie, relaties van Van der Valk en de pers waren hierbij aanwezig. Uiteraard kregen alle NIEUWS genodigden ook een heerlijk glas TOOS om de rosé meteen te kunnen proeven.

Editorial Events in which people come together and meet one other have always been the place to be to create and build connections that reflect business needs. For years, the MICE industry moved forward. Even when the COVID virus appeared, all options were utilized to continue meetings as well as possible, such as hybrid events. In the aftermath, remote working has risen, and the culture has been changed from full-time office to home and scheduled events. Therefore, In the future, it’s up to event professionals to be creative and use those events to create real, human, cross-business cultures building on solid relationships. These cultures are essential for inspiration, shared visions, and better business results, it is then of course no wonder that this is a core theme for the upcoming IBTM World. We, as the team of ‘The International Conference Locations Directory’, will continue to support you in bringing your messages forward. Bearing this in mind, we have also dedicated ourselves to giving your and our colleagues in Kyiv the opportunity to share with us their insights of the war that’s plagued them for the majority of this year and loomed over almost all international affairs as a dark cloud in an otherwise clear sky. IBTM BARCELONA IS COMING!

From Tuesday 29 November to Thursday 1 December 2022, the international IBTM World will take place in the FIRA exhibition center in Barcelona. The IBTM abbreviation stands for Incentives, Business Travel &Meetings and aims to bring together mice industry organizers to meet, share experiences, inspire, network, and connect. This international setting makes it possible to do business in a particularly efficient way.

For sure, the IBTM World can be called a world-leading event for the meeting and event industry. At IBTM World, more than 3,000 destinations with their representatives are ready to network with more than 15,000 professional buyers, suppliers, and international trade media from more than 100 countries. This is where the MICE industry comes together, where everyone has that one common goal of meeting the right people ‘face-to-face’ who can contribute to better business results for their organization.

Keynote speaker Gareth Kelly has been announced as the keynote speaker for IBTM World 2022. Gareth Kelly is head of Salesforce, the largest customer relationship management (CRM) platform in the world to help its members by bringing together marketing, sales, commerce, service, and IT teams to get and keep satisfied customers. As Senior Director and Head of Strategic Events in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), he also explores how Salesforce uses its powerful and inspiring events to drive better business outcomes and create meaningful cultural experiences for businesses. Gareth Kelly was also responsible for the legendary Dreamforce event in San Francisco last September. This annual Dreamforce event brings the global Salesforce community together to learn from each other but also to have fun, community building, and engage in the topic of philanthropy. Pioneers from all over the world come together to share their insights and successes and learn about the latest innovations in the sales industry. The event welcomed 150,000 attendees, either in person or on the Salesforce+ digital platform, and more than 100 countries were represented. Gareth Kelly said: “These are exciting times for our industry as we take the opportunity to rebuild in imaginative and innovative ways after the pandemic. UBI Conference Hall Kyiv, A SHORT REPORT ON THE SITUATION The International Conference Industry is the ultimate vehicle to bring people together, thus working on a better world. A world that is yet far from perfect but continuously struggling for a better life for the entire mankind. Congress locations do their best to get the attention of the congress organizers to choose their venue.

One of the venues that built on expanding relations with the international Conference community was (and still is) the UBI Hall in Kyiv Ukraine. The director and editor of the International Conference Allocator met the management of the UBI Hall several times on the IMEX in Frankfurt and IBTM World in Barcelona. On the 24th of February Russia invaded Ukraine causing only misery and deep grief for a lot of people. For a long period, it was unclear what was really happening (and it still is) inside Ukraine and especially concerning the UBI Hall in Kyiv.

This UBI Conference Hall is the net of ultra-modern event venues in Kyiv and Kyiv’s region, Ukraine. The company is specialized in Business and Lifestyle events’ complex decisions. They even have an unique location named “NATURE” in the “Beremytske” Nature Park. This remote location is very suitable for conducting a variety of event formats. For example, eco-conferences, team buildings, master classes in nature, and more. The conference hall of 118 m2 is equipped with modern equipment and full complex conference service for business and lifestyle events given by UBI Conference Hall.

Yulia: “The last years have been a time of challenges for the Conference World. First, 2019 brought the Great World Pandemic of Covid-19 which caused an almost full stop of the entire MICE Industry and activities, not only in Europe but worldwide. Unfortunately, Ukraine hasn’t been an exception. Despite this situation, the conference industry looked for ways to maintain Business relations. Online events such as hybrid events came to the market and the industry somehow came to life and continued as well as possible. However, people are social creatures, and they will search for opportunities to

It’s obvious that because of the current situation, the priority of the UBI Hall is surviving this (hopefully short) period of misery and danger, safety is paramount! As publisher of the International Conference Allocator, we would like to inform our customers by allowing the management of the UBI Hall the opportunity to write down what the situation is, threats and how they manage that. So, Yulia Demianchenko, UBI Conference Hall wrote some experiences down to show the world what’s going on.

As marketing plays an important role in all Businesses, also events will always play a significant role and the year 2021 showed some activity in the MICE industry. Fairs, conferences, and other events took the momentums and regained them where possible. Ukraine was active as well in that market. UBI Conference Hall adopted the locations due to pandemic demands to venues and started to increase our turnover. Our clients were happy to come back to social activity and a lot of events were organized. The UBI Conference Hall spent the year 2021 trying to come back to active social life with possibilities to implement new technologies and to develop our Business Industry.”

Russian invasion “Then came the 24th of February 2022 which dramatically changed life in Ukraine. No sane person could ever be thought this could happen in the 21st century in this region. But it happened and it changed not only Ukraine but the whole world! During the first days of the full-scale Russian military aggression on Ukraine, we stopped all our activities and even lost connection with each other. Some people from our team moved to Europe with their small children and stay there till now. Some of us were under Russian occupation and could not make a call or to move from place to place as this was life-threatening. Some of our colleagues started to work as volunteers and some joined the armed forces to defend us against the aggressors. Until now, all of us are still alive and free. All those people, who are not in Army or abroad, tried to come back and return to normal life as much as possible.”

Damage “Most of the UBI Conference Hall venues situated close to places, which were under Russian terrorists’ attacks are the Conference Hall Business which is located near the military airport. Furthermore, four other Conference Halls downtown are located close to the Kyiv TV Tower. Until so far, we were lucky that all attacks in our area brought minor damages to our venues and were restored as soon as Kyiv’s region was released from Russian aggressors. More events became virtual, and those which are offline are smaller, but people are social persons, and we need communication. The arrangements changed: a lot of charity events in favour of the Ukrainian Army and people who suffered from Russian aggression appeared. However, we already see the Ukrainian MICE industry resurging. Additionally, we develop new locations in a less affected remote area of one of the western regions to make people feel safe during the meeting time. To support the economy, the people in Ukraine do their best at their working places, where possible.UBI Conference Hall also keeps the breast of the market.”

Alternate events “We organize all kinds of Business Events which are scheduled and performed on time now. Nowadays, almost every event contains an element of charity donations. We continue volunteering projects and we are happy to be part of this important social life. For a certain time, one of our venues was a place where refugees lived. Because of the current new reality, the UBI Conference Hall is adding some options to our venues. We organize and prepare bomb shelters to make meetings’ attendees safe in times of air alerts. Due to the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the help of our Partners, thank you for that. Ukraine is alive and will live on!”

In addition, cooperations with universities of applied sciences and the annual award of scientific research with the ‘Best Meeting Thesis Austria’ award encourage young professionals in the meeting industry. The Austrian Convention Business Magazine, a specialist medium of the association, provides updates on the Austrian conference landscape and provides information on developments such as trends at congresses. The congress statistics meeting industry report Austria, in short, “mira”, is unique in Europe and serves as a tool to substantiate the importance of the industry with meaningful figures. A very big small country In 2018, the Alpine republic registered a total of 21.381 congresses, corporate meetings and seminars with more than 1.7 million participants. A considerable amount if compared to around 8.8 million inhabitants. In 2017, Austria ranked the 4th position in the Union of International Associations (UIA) statistics. The capital Vienna, even ranked 4th, after Seoul, Singapore and Brussels. Keyword recurring: Austria is also consistently represented in the ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association) country ranking. Here only events are counted, which rotate between at least three countries and which have been held at least three times. Austria remains at rank 12 in the 2017 ICCA statistics, and Vienna ranks second in the world ranking equally with Paris and after Barcelona.

Therefore, the Federal Ministry of Sustainability and Tourism (BMNT) decided ten years ago to launch the Austrian Eco-label „Green Meetings and Green Events“. This Eco-label has been developed by the Association for Consumer Information (VKI) in cooperation with the Austrian Convention Bureau (ACB). The clear and easy to read guidelines help event and meeting organizers to significantly reduce environmental impact and thus the ecological footprint: at a congress that is certified as a ‘green meeting’, around 30% of the residual waste and even 55% of the paper waste are saved. The special feature of this flexible tool is that the focus is on the entire event. Therefore, organizers are directly obliged to integrate sustainable measures into planning and implementation. A green idea thus flows into all areas of an event such as travel, accommodation, venue, catering, procurement, material and waste management, social aspects and communication. In addition, with the help of a green meeting, a positive image can be built up among the participants, the sponsors and the population. In order to host a green event, a licensee is required who performs the certification. This can either be the location itself or an agency. Information about the licensees is provided by the Association for Consumer Information (VKI). Conducting a green meeting does not incur additional costs and even offers potential for savings by giving up printing and postal mailings. Many companies in Austria are already certified with the ‘Eco-label’ UZ62 and offer expertise and support for the implementation of a ‘green meeting’. The increasing number of sustainable meetings and events and the increasing experience of meeting planners in this area distinguish Austria as a pioneer in the field of ecological responsibility. It also confirms the great success that Austria achieved in 2018 with the organization of Europe’s first “Green Presidency”. As part of this project, numerous events that took place within the 180-day EU Presidency were carried out according to these ‘green meetings’ criteria.

Although the area of Liechtenstein has been inhabited since 3000 BC, it was established formally in 1719 and gained its first independence in 1806. Except for a brief period of French rule under Napoleon, the principality has been independent since 1912. It shares a customs union with Switzerland and uses the Swiss Franc. While both states are not part of the European Union, Liechtenstein belongs to the European Economic Area. Vaduz is its capital city and has a population of roughly 5,000 and is the site of many of Liechtenstein’s historical highlights.

The Kingdom of the Netherlands are widely spread known by the name “Holland”. However, only two provinces at the coast are named “Noord-” and “Zuid”-Holland. This has a history. Between 1588 and 1795, the area currently representing the Netherlands was the Republic of Seven United Netherlands. The republic was conquered by Napoleon in 1795 and became the Batavian Republic. appointed his brother Louis as king in 1806, turning the country into a kingdom. The Netherlands remained a kingdom after Napoleon’s defeat. At that time, the area called “Holland” made the biggest contribution to the entire nation’s economy and wealth. As such it became the commonly used name to indicate the entire country.

With 17 million people, the Netherlands is the most densely populated country of the European Union. More than 40% of the total population live in the “Randstad”, an agglomeration of the cities of Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht. Amsterdam is the capital, but the government resides in The Hague. The Netherlands has a long coastline with beautiful beaches. Behind the dunes you will find the clean, green, flat landscape ending up with some hills in the far South-East in the province of Limburg. Cruising the Netherlands, one will not notice that 27% of the country is below sea level. Despite the population density, you will not notice it when cruising, either driving, cycling or walking the country.

When you think about Holland, you probably think of tulips, windmills and cheese, but there is much more that you will recognize for sure.
