INTRO We’re movin’ along ….. 4 down, 3 to go.. We are more than halfway through the season. The cream is starting to rise. If you didn’t make your bet already, get on your app and check again, cause the odds are starting to change for some teams. We know who the favorites are. As we head down the backstretch, it’s time to start talking about who are the contenders and who are the pretenders. In the pro division, it took a half for the Bulls to wake up, and did they ever as they beat the Lightning. MHB lost their all-pro QB to injury, but still fought as MHB does as they put up a great fight against the Huskers in a close Huskers victory. CTS needed a victory badly and they got one in a close contest against the Goats/Chiefs. The last game of the day saw Menace take care of business against the Shinobi Clan. On to the comp. In the blink of an eye we are cruising right past the midway point of the season. Getting us started off was Mana going up against the Rockers. It didn't take long for Mana to get the ball rolling as Jason Duong led the Mana offense to the endzone on multiple occasions. The Rockers had some struggles in the first few drives, but eventually were able to move the ball, but couldn't get in the end zone. The stout Mana defense held strong except for one drive towards the end of the game. The win gets Mana to a 3 and 1 record with the Muddogs up next on their schedule. As for the Rockers, they will look to rebound against the Slime Boyz. The second game put Carnage against VIP. The game did not disappoint as both teams went back and forth. The entire game was thrilling, but the fireworks started as time was ticking away. Carnage would get the ball in the endzone to pull within one point with just the extra point to go. They decided to go for two but VIP's defense locked down and held Carange at bay. VIP would drive down and add one more score to increase their lead as time ran out. This victory leaves VIP as the last remaining undefeated team in the Comp division. They look to keep it that way when they face off against Empire in week 5. Carnage on the other hand will be looking to get back on the winning track when they face the Grizzlies. Speaking of the Grizzlies, they were up next going against the Muddogs. Just off their first win of the season, the Grizzlies found themselves in another close game. Dero is in a groove right now and his veteran leadership is helping this young team. The Grizzlies defense has been locking down the opposition as of late and will be looking to do so against Mondo and Carange. After getting a win in week one, the Muddogs are on a 3 game losing slide. It's not for lack of good QB play as Jordan Hoffman has been playing really well. The real question is will that be enough when going against Mana in week 5. To finish off week 4, we had two winless teams facing each other. Both Empire and the Slime Boyz are stacked with talent, but just haven't been able to nab that first victory. That’s until they faced each other. Empire decided to turn to Jessy Jackson at QB to help inject some life into the offense. That would pay off as Empire would score first on a deep pass to Travin Haris. The Empire defense was also up to the challenge and stifled the Slime Boyz defense until late in the game. Empire will need to build off this win as they face VIP in week 5. The Slime Boyz go against the Rockers in Week 5. The Slime Boyz will need to get their offense going in order to get some wins on the season. Hey week 5!! Here we come!!!

GAME DAY 10.02.22

This was the epitome of a tale of two halves. The first half was surprisingly all zeros and a defensive game. It appeared the Bulls would score first after Jordan Williams intercepted the ball on the first play of the game. The defense for the lightning would hold strong and get the ball back. Both teams moved the ball but couldn't quite get the ball in the endzone. The beginning of the half started out with both teams defense getting an interception. Corey Sample’s interception would set up the games first score. That first score was a pass from Knighton to Crowder. That would open up the flood gates and the Bulls were off to the races. The next score was a Sample pick six. On the day the Bulls defense would come away with five interceptions and two sacks. New acquisition Justin Flygare balled out and fit perfectly into the Bulls defense. Though the Lightning moved the ball some in the first half, in the second half they could only muster three pass completions. David Knighton on the other hand was able to connect on three 35+ yard touchdown passes in the second half. To sum it up the Bulls put up thirty three points in the second half to remain unbeaten on the season. Up next for the Bulls will be a Goats/Chiefs team that has the number two scoring offense in the league. The Lightning will go up against a very stout Mile High Built team.

GAME DAY 10.02.22

This was a highly anticipated matchup between the Huskers and Mile High Built. The sizzle was tempered a bit due to the absence of Artie Barcelo. While both teams have extraordinary talent on offense, what really stood out in the game was the defensive play. Between the two teams there were a total of ten sacks. The Huskers got on the board first with a 19 yard touchdown pass from Mario Lopez to Nate Sanchez. That was the only score in the first half, but in the second half Mile High Built was able to get on the scoreboard with a 64 yard touchdown reception from Tommy Hilbert. The real difference maker of the game was the 79 yard touchdown run from Dez Burks. This win gets the Huskers to a 3 and 1 record and sitting in a great position. They have only allowed 26 points on the season. They will go up against Menace in week 5. That will be another battle of top tier defenses, but both offenses will be primed for big time plays. For Mile High Built they will try to rebound against the Lightning. MHB needs to stay focused as the Lightning are hungry for their first win on the season.

There were a couple different ways to look at this game. First off, CTS won, they didn’t get lucky, they beat the Goats/Chiefs. However, one could argue that the Goats/Chiefs had control of this game at one point. They had the ball longer overall, scored on their first 2 possessions, and didn’t seem to have any issues moving the ball in the first half as they held a one point advantage. Nonetheless, CTS used 2 big first half plays to score their 13 points, and stepped up the way champions do to shut out the Goats/Chiefs in the second half to pull out a victory. A Phil Romero score would put CTS up for good as the defense stopped QB Jovan Mays on downs as time ticked down. Mays would probably love to have his last 2 throws back, but this is why we play the game. Out last weekend, Duece Richardson returned to throw for 365 yards and 3 scores. Also absent week 3 was Scotty O’Hara, who totaled 2 sacks and 4 flag pulls. Jovan Mays held his own just fine, throwing for 336 yards and 2 scores. It’s a strong possibility these 2 teams will meet again on playoff Sunday. CTS will taken on the Shinobi Clan in week 5 while the Goats/Chiefs will battle the Bulls.

Menace came out focused and played well. Jesse Eaton completed 31 of 35 passes. Malcolm Whye had 162 yards receiving and 2 scores. Koree Ross had 2 sacks. Shinobi Clan had more numbers this week, which made the game at bit more competitive. I will say, if Shinobi had a consistent QB this season, this would be an entirely different team. I only make that comment because the team that faced the Huskers in week one gave the defending champs a good game. The men that remain on that team play with all heart, and that’s all you can ask for. Menace will face the Huskers next in a great matchup. The Shinobi Clan will take on CTS.

Mile High Mana Team Rep: This week we played Mana football. We showed what this team can do. Our defense played lights out yet again. Offense was able to put together some solid drives. Had a few opportunities we failed to capitalize on in the red zone, but overall looked solid. Felt good to come back strong after last week’s loss. We are excited for our matchup next week.

Denver Rockers Team Rep: Going in we knew Mana was going to be a tough team to beat. They are a very well-rounded team and to beat them you need to do so much perfectly. This is an L that we will learn from and come back next week to compete.

Grizzlies Team Rep: Really coming together as a team. Both sides of the ball came to play. 3 ints on defense by Dero Ard, Oliver Roark, and Devin Church along with 2 sacks led the team to the win. Dero once again did his normal thing on offense to lead them up and down the field at will. Another great team win!

Muddogs Team Rep: Not the outcome we wanted. We couldn't get anything going. We struggled on both sides of the ball and made a lot of mistakes. We did not play to the best of our abilities. We just have to regroup and get locked in for the rest of the season.

CODE OF CONDUCT/FINE/PENALTIES REMINDER REMINDER: It is on the team captains to make sure their players know the rules and follow them. There is absolutely NO FIGHTING. Doing so will result in HEAVY fines and suspensions. The rules are there for a reason. If fights happen then we may lose the rights to play on the amazing fields, we have. Also, after each game the sidelines will be checked to make sure the trash has been cleaned up. Fines will be implemented to teams that leave their sidelines trashed.
