The Update APRIL 2023
Kent Island Elks Lodge #2576 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks
EXALTED RULER’S MESSAGE Thank you, members, for electing me as your Exalter Ruler for a 3rd term. I am very grateful to everyone who supported me and turned out to vote. It was an exciting night! I will do my best not to let you down. We have a ton of things planned for our members and their guests this year. Annual favorites like Cash Bash, Luau, Elk-a-Rita-ville, and Crab Feast will continue, and Saturday night bands will rock the pavilion from May through October. You may also see 'Elvis' enter the building and 'AC/DC' cause some High Voltage. There are other events in the planning stages, but I want to hear from you. What would you like to see and do? How would you like to help? You may have noticed some construction work around the Lodge. We are expanding the pavilion bar area and working to get some additional parking.
position of State President-Elect. Congratulations to both of you for the well-deserved achievements. I would like to thank Ron Kunz. He will be stepping down from the Esquire position, which he has held for many years. He always had his lines memorized and was dedicated to the position. He is not going anywhere though, as he will move to the position of
Like everything else, our dues have increased a bit, but in reality, a membership adds up to only $8.00 a month and we still have the cheapest food and adult beverages around. At our Installation of Officers, outgoing ER, Ray Wilson recognized Jerry Maisel as the Elk of the Year, Sharon Sweeney as the Citizen of the Year, and Donna Haggerty as the Officer of the Year. Their photos are on page 4. Congratulations!
42 new members were initiated in March! With all these new members and the great events being planned, we will need extra parking.
Thank you, Ray Wilson, for a successful year as Exalted Ruler. You seamlessly stepped into the position, and you are appreciated for all your hard work.
Our BPOE State Association has selected Rick Frere as the District Deputy to the Grand Exalted Ruler. He is the 3rd District Deputy from our Lodge. Congratulations also to Angela Meyer, who has been elected to the
For the month of April, I've selected Mark Torre as our Elk of the Month for all the work he does all around the Lodge. He jumps right in whether we ask him to or not. When you see Mark, tell him Thank You.
