Talk to the world !Oh my home! Oh my home Majesty and beauty, splendor and glory are in your hills, in your hills. life and survival, relief and hope are in your love, in your love. ?Do I see you, do I see you safe and blessed, safe and blessed. Do I see you in your highness, your highness. !Oh my home! Oh my home the youth won’t give up until you are free, or they die, or they die, we’re not scared of death, and won’t be slaves to enemies. We don›t want eternal disgrace nor a miserable life. we don’t want, but to reclaim our wonderful glory, our wonderful glory, oh my home, oh my home. !Oh my home! Oh my home The sword and the pen, not the talk, our symbol, our symbol. Our glory, oath and loyalty has woken us up, an honorable aim, a fluttering flag. How blessed you are in your superiority, defeating your enemies. !Oh my home! Oh my home

The land of sad oranges Written By Ghassan Kanafani
The story was dramatic because it was written in a sad way. It hurts because it’s telling us the reality of how Palestinians had and still have to live. Palestinians suffered a lot; imagine yourself leaving your home suddenly for no reason and not even by your choice. Also, kids had a responsibility for everything they suffered, even though kids shouldn’t hold any responsibility. These Palestinians didn’t have to wake up to escape their nightmares. They lived their nightmares but didn’t know how to wake up. In the end of the story, the oranges, in The Land of Oranges, were dry and wrinkled. Mariam Juneidi When I read the story, I was shocked how Ghassan Kanafani was able to write such a magnificent story. All of these tragic accidents were happening in Akka; soldiers were constantly getting into people›s houses without permission, destroying and getting them out of their homes. The writer›s description of Palestinians transferring from citizens to refugees in one day was perfect and so emotional. I am speechless how beautiful the story is and I am sure if he is alive, his hope for freedom will continue. This story reminded me of Ghassan Kanafani›s wisdom when he said: ‘you have something in this world, so stand for it’. Still, I would like it if the writer made some words more understandable and explained the scenes that happened in Akka in short paragraphs. Lama Sharif Ghassan Kanafani is a Palestinian writer. He described the occupation of Palestine and its origins in a deep, comprehensive and realistic manner. But in this story, he mentioned that he doubts the ability of God to bear what happened, leaving Palestine with its catastrophe. All of this talk is disbelief in God «the almighty». I like when he describes the departure of the Palestinian people from their land and the leave of their oranges as a difficult and painful matter just like the departure of the soul from the body. First of all, I really enjoyed reading the story for different reasons. One reason is that it included an introduction that really helped me get to know key information about Ghassan Kanafani. I was really impressed by the way he discussed the struggles we Palestinians went through and still go through. The story kept me eager to find out what is going to happen. A specific part of the story that I thought was one of the best parts was when they memorially passed by the field of oranges. Throughout reading the story I really felt different emotions that really affected me. He described the feelings of the characters in a spectacular way. To sum up, I had high expectations for this story and I was right. It›s one of the best stories that talks about the history of Palestine. I recommend reading it Diaa Alassoud The story is sad but good, and there were some sad and scary parts in it. The sad part is when Layla’s father died and when little Layla was crying and saying: Baba..Baba. The scary part is when they heard the sound of gunshots. Ikram Hatem

Poetry from 1948 to 1967 Despite the harsh conditions of oppression and cultural captivity, Palestinian intellectuals presented a historical model for culture, with all its awareness and resilience. Palestinian national poetry flourished after the launch of the Palestinian resistance and the resurgence of the Palestinian revolution in the mid-sixties. With the emergence of the signs of Zionist greed to seize the Palestinian lands during the forties of the last century, and with the sense of danger that is worrying the Palestinians, the Palestinian national identity was crystallized. National awareness was crystallized with the emergence of a group of intellectuals who decided to struggle with the word to enhance the spirit of steadfastness.
The most important poets of that period: Among the most prominent representatives of that generation are: Abd al-Rahim Mahmoud, Abd al-Karim al-Karmi “Abu Salma”, Ibrahim Touqan, Rashid Hussein, Mahmoud Darwish, Samih al-Qasim and Tawfiq Ziad who composed poems that not only inflamed the feelings of those who suffered from the occupation, but also touched the passion of millions of people yearning for freedom. They were called “poets of resistance”.
Poetry of resistance
Poetry at this stage was characterized by the human and social dimension and the knowledge of the other, which was called “the poetry of resistance”. The poetry of resistance can be defined as a state in which the poet deeply, authentically and consciously expresses himself and cultural identity. This type of resistance takes its 14

pioneering form in political and cultural work. These two works, which complement each other, constitute the fertile ground that breeds armed resistance, embraces it, ensures the continuation of its march and surrounds it with guarantees. An example is Tawfiq Ziyad’s poem “With My Teeth”: with my teeth I will protect every inch of my country’s wealth with my teeth. I will not accept an alternative Even if I was suspended from an arterial artery. I’m staying captive my love...to the fence of my house, For the dew. for the melodious lily Hence, the cultural form of resistance presents importance that is never less valuable than the armed resistance itself. However, what distinguishes the resistance poetry in occupied Palestine from 1948 to 1968 is its harsh conditions, which it challenged and lived through.
Alienation and nostalgia:
The themes and contents of Palestinian poetry texts during that period were characterized by longing for the lost homeland, portraying the tragedy, describing suffering, and drawing Palestinian salvation in emotional images. Nostalgia is closely linked to alienation in Palestinian poetry; When a person moves away from a place, he feels nostalgic for it and longs for all that is in it.
