SAFETY & SECURITY PROCEDURES
Your safety and the security of your personal property are of the utmost concern to those of us who welcome you as our guest. We urge you to take advantage of the following suggestions. Double Locks & Chains For additional security while in your room, utilize the deadbolt lock provided on your door upon entering. This will prevent the door from being opened by a regular room key. As an additional precaution, please secure the safety chain or bar lock. Admittance Do not admit persons to your room without first making identification. A peephole is provided in your door for your convenience. If there is any doubt about a person’s true identity, please contact the Front Desk. Keys Safeguard your key. Be sure to leave it with the Front Desk upon departure. Do not leave it in your room or in the door. Do not give your key to others. Automobiles Ensure that your car is locked, and do not leave any items of value visible in your car. We hope that these procedures will contribute to your comfort and well-being during your stay.
FIRE SAFETY
Hotels are doing even more to make sure that guests are safe from fire. At this hotel, we have smoke detectors and automatic sprinklers. Take time to read and familiarize yourself with fire safety and escape information. Find the two exits nearest to your room. Count the number of doors from your room to the exits. Make sure that they are unlocked and unblocked. Learn the layout of your room and how to unlock the door in the dark. Put your room key and a flashlight close to where you sleep. In the event of fire, take your room key, flashlight and nothing else with you. Locate the fire alarm on your floor. If you find a fire in your room or somewhere else, sound the alarm. When you hear the fire alarm, act, don’t investigate. Put these tips to work right away. If the fire is in your room, get out and close the door. Once out, report the fire to the hotel operator. If the fire is not in your room, leave if you can. First, feel the door. If it’s cool, open it slowly, and go to the nearest exit. If your room door is hot, don’t open it. Your room may be the safest place to be. Call the hotel operator and report the fire and your location. Seal all cracks with wet towels. Shut off fans and air conditioners. Signal at your window or balcony for help, and wait to be rescued. Crawl low in smoke. Fresh air will be at the floor. If you encounter smoke or fire at lower levels, turn around, and use another exit. Take your key so that you can go back to your room if you can’t use your exits. Never use elevators during a fire. They could stop at the fire floor. Use interior stairs.

Missoula is located along the Clark Fork River of the local lumber industry. In 1893, the Montana near its confluence with the Bitterroot and Blackfoot Rivers in western Montana and at the convergence of five mountain ranges, thus it is often described as the “hub of five valleys”. The 2020 United States Census shows the city’s population at 73,489 and the population of the Missoula Metropolitan Area at 117,922. After Billings, Missoula is the secondlargest city and metropolitan area in Montana. Archaeological artifacts date the earliest inhabitants of the Missoula Valley to 12,000 years ago with settlements as early as 3500 BC. From the 1700s until 1850s, those who used the land were primarily, the Salish, Kootenai, Pend d’Oreille, Blackfeet, and Shoshone. The Lewis and Clark Expedition brought the first U.S. citizens to the area, twice stopping just south of Missoula at Traveler’s Rest. The Missoula area began seeing settlement by people of European descent in 1858. The mills provided supplies to western settlers traveling along the Mullan Road. The establishment of Fort Missoula in 1877 to protect settlers further stabilized the economy. The arrival of the Northern Pacific Railway in 1883 brought rapid growth and the maturation
The University of Montana Main Hall
Legislature chose Missoula as the site for the state’s first university. Along with the U.S. Forest Service headquarters founded in 1908, lumber and the university remained the basis of the local economy for the next 100 years. By the 1990s, Missoula’s lumber industry had gradually disappeared, and as of 2009, the city’s largest employers were the University of Montana, Missoula County Public Schools, and Missoula’s two hospitals. In and around Missoula are 400 acres (160 ha) of parkland, 22 miles (35 km) of trails, and nearly 5,000 acres (2,000 ha) of open-space conservation land, with adjacent Mount Jumbo being home to grazing elk and mule deer during the winter.
‘A River Runs Through It’ is set in the city of Missoula in Montana and the Blackfoot River. However, the movie’s filming primarily took place in Park County, Gallatin County, and Sweet Grass County in Montana. The production team also headed over to Teton County in Wyoming to utilize its natural beauty.
Brennan’s Wave: Shoot the Rapids in downtown Missoula! On any given day, anyone looking toward Brennan’s Wave in Downtown Missoula is likely to see a kayaker — or several — playing on the wave, an engineered whitewater masterpiece right next to Caras Park on the Clark Fork river. Named for Brennan Guth, a Missoula-native and world-class kayaker who died paddling in Chile in 2001, the man-made wave gives local kayakers a spectacular whitewater feature to call their own. In June 2010, Brennan’s Wave played host to the U.S. Freestyle Kayaking Championships, an event that brought together some 5,000 spectators to watch more than 200 competitors.
For those with an adventurous spirit, several Missoula businesses offer kayak lessons for those who want to get in on the action, rather than just check it out from your place on the spectator deck. courtesy of MakeItMissoula.com

Who ever says, “Just a Sandwich”?! Sandwich”?!
• The sandwich was named after Lord Sandwich – a gambler who didn’t have time to eat during a play so he would ask his servants to bring him slices of meat in between slices of bread.
• A Minnesota-based YouTuber once made a chicken sandwich literally from scratch. He grew a garden, harvested wheat, slaughtered a chicken, traveled to boil ocean water for salt, etc. It took him 6 months and cost him $1,500. He also didn’t think it tasted very good. • In 2003, a man in Belgium stole diamonds worth 100 million dollars from a vault protected by multiple security mechanisms, including a lock with 100 million possible combinations, a seismic sensor, Doppler radar, infrared heat detectors, and a magnetic field. He was later caught because he left a partially eaten sandwich near the crime scene which was used as DNA evidence.
• Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches were originally considered a delicacy, only enjoyed by those of the upper “crust”. courtesy of kickassfacts.com
