ВТОРО СРЕДНО УЧИЛИЩЕ‘ ПРОФЕСОР НИКОЛА МАРИНОВ‘ Търговище My school Я люблю школу Meine Schule

MY SCHOOL "... As under the branches of an oak, we, his students and children, grew up in pure obedience, in humble filial diligence, with deep faith in his creative power. We felt and were aware that everything came from him, that everything in us our delight, our faith, our love for art, was his." Touching words of Iliya Beshkov about his teacher Nikola Marinov. And today, we, his students, continue to draw knowledge from his immortal creative wisdom. Who is he? Nikola Marinov Abadjiev was born on July 10, 1879 in Eski Jumaya. A great artist with a virtuoso hand and the heart of a poet, who leaves watercolors unique in Bulgarian art - technically perfect, imbued with light and deep feelings. He is the patron of our prestigious school - II SU "Professor Nikola Marinov". My school is the largest in Targovishte. It was founded on September 15, 1970. Year after year, it has established itself as one of the most successful and innovative centers of education. Every day in the educational institution we accumulate knowledge in various fields. It is like the color palette bequeathed to us by our patron, and teachers are the brushes that skillfully turn us into unique masterpieces. They teach us to be diligent, they motivate us to be hardworking and dedicated. They are constantly enriching our souls, hearts and minds. It contains all the colors. It is colorful inside and out. We take the fiery red of our love from the humanities, the turquoise green of nature from the natural sciences, the crimson purple of the future from information technology, the sky blue of travel from foreign languages, the sunny yellow of traditions from choreography, the hot orange of joy from music and the visual arts we learn to combine them. Day by day we become more and more colorful individuals - emotionally enriched, intellectually knowledgeable and socially capable. Responsible citizens who walk boldly into the world, bringing together the colors of a rainbow. I became a part of the big family of Nikola Marinovs when I finished the seventh grade. I was received extremely warmly by the entire school community. The teachers support and inspire me to develop my potential, set higher goals and dream boldly. Here we are taught to see and appreciate the beautiful around us and within us. I don't regret my choice for a second. On the contrary, I feel satisfaction and pride that I have made the best decision for my future. I strictly follow the motto of the beloved school: "Knowledge is our strength, success is our goal!" I strive to glorify his name and be a worthy successor of the great master Nikola Marinov. For me, it is a pride and an even greater responsibility to personally bear this great name - Nikola, which I inherited from my grandfather Nikola Marinov. Nikola Kirov, IX class

How I Imagine My School In 30 Years I have been studying in the Second High School since the first grade. I've been here since I was very young. In this school I learned to write, read and count. I made some of my first friendships here. I'm already in the eighth grade and I'm in high school. As I grow I change different classes, meet new people and see different teachers with different teaching methods. I notice that the school has traditions that every graduating class happily carries out. It is interesting how every year all the students who are in the twelfth grade and are in the art class draw on the walls in the corridors of the school. These murals not only decorate the building, but also show the reputation of the school as a high school of arts and point to our patron, Professor Nikola Marinov. In 30 years, my school will still be working. It will be bigger than before. Many more students will study in it. I think there will be so many children that another building will be built in the schoolyard. We will be on one shift as there will now be room for all students at the same time. Many new teachers will be hired, each of them will have an office, because we will switch to an office system for all grades. Artistic traditions will continue. After so many graduations, everywhere will be covered with themed and beautiful murals. They are an important mark for the school, because through them every student who participated in this creative project leaves his mark for the next generations. All offices will be changed and modernized with the latest electronic technologies. Every information technology office will have a smart board that will not need markers and a sponge, but only electricity and internet. Tablets will come into use, despite the availability of laptops and computers. Normal printers will be replaced by 3D printers that do not reproduce flat images. They print 3D objects. Science classrooms will look like museums. When you enter the physics room and look up, you will see space. Planets and stars will hang from the ceiling, showing us astronomy in an interesting way. There will be many devices and instruments with which the students will clearly be able to understand the material. In the biology room there will be skeletons and even real animals. Every chemistry lesson will be experimented with, because the chemistry classroom will be a laboratory. Sports will be very developed. Swimming will be offered as there will be a large indoor pool for students to exercise in. In order to preserve Bulgarian folklore, folk

dances will be included in the physical education curriculum. Sportswear and school uniforms will be introduced. The school is our home, where we grow and develop, therefore a good ethnosphere, mutual help and motivation for development are important. Many changes may happen in the future. But for this to happen, we must value and protect our school today. Emiliana Apostolova VIIIth grade

Art in my heart Art is wealthiness. Through it humans can express who they are and how they feel, makes you feel complete and fully-fledged. Art occurs in many different forms such as music, drawing, dancing, acting, architecture and in many more different areas. It is eternal. Art lives in each person. Without it the world wouldn't be the same.Art is magic. It is a harmony that makes us love what we are do. Music is my art. Music makes me dream, makes my dreams come true and the most important music makes me happy. I've been singing since I was very young. For all these years that I have been creating with my voice I have understood that music is a fairy tale. It teaches me a lot of hard work and patience. When I sing I am moving to a totally different world. Music fills me up with positiv emotions and thoughts and I forget about all the problems. My purpose is to touch people's hearts through my voice. I want to provoke emotions in the listeners and inspire them. Because as Helvetius once said - "The task of art is to excite our hearts" Aleksandra Teneva, X b class

In my sight I see only a door Closed, wooden door I want to see behind I need to see what awaits me The box is narrow My imagination has limits I tried my hardest to open the door I did it I felt the emotions bulking up I was no longer at my limit Expressing every bit of my mind Felt like touching the sky, like flying Allowed to see the whole picture To see out of the narrow box I feel satisfaction And desire To be myself.

Art is everywhere Art has undoubtedly existed since the dawn of time. And yet, the question remains – What exactly is art? There really is no definitive answer, since it varies from person to person. Art is simultaneously everywhere and nowhere. Art is inherently subjective and that’s why I am here to share my subjective answer. The things the everyday man thinks of when someone mentions art are usually the Mona Lisa, the Sistine Chapel, David or maybe even some oil paintings by a modern artist they saw at the gallery a few days ago. Such as Nikola Marinov’s works – if it weren’t for this man, I wouldn’t be studying at my school. And all those answers are valid. Valid and non-controversial. I think it’s art, you think it’s art, everyone thinks it’s art. But obviously, this is not by any circumstances the only known form of art. I personally consider anything man-made with emotional impact thought put into it to be art. Not necessarily good art, but art nonetheless. And it just so happens that my current favourite piece of art is a video game. One that is titled “Team Fortress 2”. You may have heard of this team-based shooter solely because of how massive its cultural impact is. Its nine insane but loveable, stereotypical at first glance but genuinely well written, characters; Its wacky and nonsensical storyline; the hilarious voice acting; Its rewarding game mechanics and diverse game modes. I adore all of it and consider it to be art. It’s man-made, there’s thought put into it and it makes me experience a spectrum of emotions. But let’s take a step back and talk a bit more about visual art. One of the reasons a game as old as Team Fortress 2 (which recently turned 15 years old) is relevant to this very day is its timeless art style – it’s stylized, cartoony and even reminiscent of Pixar and that’s what makes it so appealing. If it was designed to be as realistic as possible, the game would have looked dated by now. This may have been the reason I, and many other artists decided to pursue a more expressive, simple art style, to me it is as valid as realism. Furthermore, TF2 takes place in 1968 back when propaganda posters were at every corner, superhero comic books were still relevant and spy movies were skyrocketing in popularity. The game captures the aesthetic of that era perfectly by simultaneously admiring and paying tribute to it and poking fun at

it with its dark comedy. And I stand by the belief that a good art style is a one that flawlessly conveys what the artist wants to say. Speaking of flawlessly conveying something – Each character is given a strong, distinguishable silhouette – one of the key elements of a good design. You may wonder why I spent 5 paragraphs describing one single video game. And the answer is quite simple actually – connection. I have always struggled with communicating and maintaining relationships with my peers due to being “on the spectrum”, as some people say. But over the years I learnt a way to connect with others – art. I talk about forms of art I like – it is what you witnessed a few paragraphs ago with your own two eyes. I create and share my art. I marvel upon other people’s art and take inspiration from it. I talk about the simple and not so simple things in life that inspire me to create even more art.

To me art is personal. To me art is everywhere.

Elena Yordanova, XI a class

Art is everywhere. What is art? Art can be anything. It's a subjective thing, really. Some people see food as art like this one time I was playing Dixit with friends and the theme was art. One of my friends threw a card with a drawing of a table with different types of foods. Others see art in trash. Just like the saying "One man's trash is another man's treasure." There are lots of people who like to upcycle everyday trash into beautiful art pieces. And some people find art in their everyday life. People who see the prettiness in stuff most people might find ugly, like that one friend who somehow always manages to fall for people we always find unattractive. Just kidding, everyone has a taste, and just because we don't like something doesn't mean it's disliked by the whole world. After all, if it exists that means someone liked it and made it. (talking about art now, not people) Or maybe some of you find art in what I call traditional art. Old paintings made by old artists. Or music. Or photography. Or filmography. Or dancing. Or acting. Or fashion. It's 2022! Art is everywhere! Art is everything! You're free to express yourself any way you like! And you shouldn't be scared of other people's opinions about the way you express yourself. Whether you express yourself with the clothes you wear, the makeup you put on, the way you style your hair, the music you listen to, the way you write, the drawings you draw, or the pictures you take. You should be 100% true to yourself and live the life you want to. This topic has been picked up by a lot of people before me and will be picked up by people after me, but a book on the topic I very much like is Neil Gaiman's book - Art matters where he

basically tells you to break rules and invent new types of art. Do what you want and think of mistakes as something good. Don't be scared to experiment. That's what made David Bowie famous. And for me, art is everywhere I look as a person who finds beauty in everything and is very sentimental. I sit down and write on my typewriter just to escape reality. And I'm not the only one for sure. People play games, read books, listen to music, write or draw to escape the cruel reality they live in. And this is how writing helps me. I create a world that I control and no one can tell me what to and not do with that world. I decide if a character dies or not if they are a peaceful sweetheart who lives in a cottage with a golden retriever or an annoying, mean jock who can't do basic math. It's all up to me. Or to you if you're a writer as well.

Art is everywhere. Everywhere you look. Elif Hyusein, IX a class

Art is Everywhere

Art represents the world we are living in. It’s a part of our life. It is every song. Every building. Every piece of clothing. Every step. Every movement. For me art is a way of expressing someone’s nature, soul and energy. Through it, we describe and create ourselves. Art comes in many forms: music, dance, movies, paintings. It affects everyone, differently. For example, one single song has the power to change someone’s point of view. It gives hope. It inspires. Art can be the thing that turns people’s lives upside down. Art is not only enjoyment, it is solvation. It is a source of information. Through it, the artist describes his emotions, tells stories, opens the eyes of those who are ready to see them. I think that our planet is a better place because of art. It turns the grey moments into colorful memories! And that’s the art of ART!

Ivayla Raycheva, X b class

АRT IS EVERYWHERE What is the first thing that bursts in our thoughts when we think of “art is everywhere”? Well, we can think of literally anything! Because after all art truly is everywhere! Even though, being unaware while doing our everyday obligations and different tasks, we may not notice how aesthetically pleasing could be the world that surrounds us. In addition, what about the beautiful season autumn that comes along again like every year? We start to forget about it just because we’ve seen it and we’re used to it but if we stop for a moment, look around and examine the environment a little more, that’s when we’ll notice the charming part of nature that life provides us every single day! The appreciation we feel about it is a kind of a beautiful feeling that furthermore turns into art! Now, if we look and observe ourselves what will we see? The answer is obvious – We’re art too! Everybody is different from the other with their own perception of life, morals and this goes on eternally! So this could be considered artistic because art doesn’t have limits, right? Everything and everyone can fit in this wide-ranging topic!

My school My school is called “Professor Nikola Marinov” Secondary School. I have spent over 11 years here and I am down to the last few months before my final walk through the front doors and one final goodbye. Some might say this is my second home. Here I have met some of my very true and loyal friends. And thanks to the school system I get to see them every single day. My school is a bit special. Starting by it’s name holder – Professor Nikola Marinov. Mister Marinov was a very talented painter that lived in the late 1800s till the middle 1900s. Our school proudly represents his work in the artistic genre because we are the only school in our town that has this much focus on up and coming artist. First of all when you walk up to the school main entrance you are greeted with a big portrait of mister Marinov on the big wall next to the school doors. Inside you can see the student’s art projects on the walls of the school. Our school has a little tradition which applies every year. When the end of the school year creeps around the corner, art students make a nice painting on some of the walls in the school in honor of all the graduating students that year. I am really worried if there will even be space for this years painting for our graduation. The whole atmosphere is very kind and warm, especially for the little kids in the first grade. Greeting them with such welcoming and colorful classrooms helps them easily make the transition in the whole new world that starts for them. This is my last year in this school. As a typical lazy student I haven’t enjoyed every second of my time here but I don’t regret it at all. As I said I have met some of my best friends here, I learnt not so much of

the studying material, but I learnt what it is to take responsibility, to meet people, to work with people and just to have a good time even tho homework doesn’t really allow that. I’m glad that I have studied here and am proud of it too. by Kristian Filev XII g

My school and what I have learnt from it I am a student in the 12th grade in “Professor Nikola Marinov” Secondary School. I feel both happiness and sadness because of the fact I am graduating and this is my last year here. School is the place where I spend a half of my day and it has become an important part of it. It is not only about learning new things and gaining general knowledge but also meeting new people and making friendships. Here I learned to be more responsible, to work in a team and on my own, to help others and to make compromises. The teachers here are all very strict, because they want us to actually learn something but they are also very kind. I will never forget one time, when I didn’t have food for the big break. Everyone went outside to eat but I stayed in the classroom alone and my English teacher asked if I needed some money to buy myself something to eat. I denied of course because I was feeling very uncomfortable taking money from her but still, her act was very kind, generous and I will remember it for long time. This is a simple proof of how we should be empathic and always help others. Another thing captured in my mind is from a Math lesson, when the whole class didn’t have homework. Instead of becoming angry and shouting at us, the teacher simply told us “If you wanted to, you would have done it, everything else is just an excuse. If it was your priority, you would have found a way to do the exercise, even if it was difficult”. And since then when there is something difficult, I never give up. I try my best to make it in the best possible way and never refuse to do it. This experience helped me become a perfectionist and arrange my priorities and tasks according to their urgency and importance. When I go to study in university, I will certainly miss my school and the welcoming environment it has. But I guess I will get used to it, I mean it is the same as going from kinder garden to school. In the beginning you miss it but soon after that, you start to enjoy the new place. By Aleksandra Dimitrova XIIg

School life The first day of a new chapter of your life, It starts with the excitement to make new friends, To learn new things, you have never thought of before. Four years ago you were just a kid, Now you grow into a student. Then the emotions took a way, Some changed into worry, thinking about grades. Other turned into stress, of how you will do on your next test, Doing your best to impress Teachers, parents and everyone else. You started thinking that school is only stress, That the fun no longer exists, But once you set your goals and dreams, You see that being at school has its bright sides. Teaching you new things, guiding you to the best future you will ever have. 1, 2, 3, and to 12 you count the last days of your school life, Wishing the memories will last forever Because at the end you realize, The happy emotions, the unexpected surprises, the worry and everything experienced at school, built you into the person you are now, At the threshold of the newest chapter of your life. ART IS EVERYWHERE Standing in front of the big gray door, I feel like a small grain thrown by chance by fate, timidly look around and reach for the handle. I enter the microcosm of society and the heavy door slams behind me loudly. On the threshold of a radically different world, feeling vulnerable, tiny and fearful. No one can see me, I am part of the other world – colorless, formless and impractical. And everything here is so dynamic, unrealistic and improbable, a reality including only the remarkable and delectable. Once I hear the cry of the guitars, the tale of the black and white keys and the confession of the violins, I perceive the breakout of the world in silly grins. Among the glaring and illusory world of drawings and the enchanting song of ink, my whole being finds the joy of gracious living. My limbs fuse with the ambience and the world awards me with a vaccine for violence. After I get off the whirlwind carousel, I find myself again in front of gray doorway. The loud bang of a closing door, sends me compassionately out of this engine of growth. Siyana Svetoslavova Dimitrova X b class

Philocalist The warm summer, The feeling that won’t ever leave. Moving and dancing to the breeze Are the singing leaves. Starry skies painted by Vincent van Gogh’s Hand, Embracing the warm feeling – Being far, yet so close to the land. Who was your creator, who did it all? I haven’t seen anything greater Than the fiery fall. If I put up the colors, All the melodies in my head. It will be a symphony of others Following the thin disappearing thread. Who am I in my own painting, Colorful, but haunted with pain. I shall hide in the deep blue water Because – Art Is Everywherе Veselin Yordanov, XII b class

The times we live in include many innovations in terms of technology. As they develop, we are given the opportunity to find information on almost anything that interests us and to enrich our knowledge. Many questions arise in this connection about the functions of the school - does it offer us everything we can learn? School is the place where each one of us walks a long road filled with many obstacles and efforts in success. And along the way, each of us passes through different stages. During each period we not only accumulate knowledge, but also consciously build ourselves as individuals, but this is slow and difficult. Each year is a step to enable each of the us to reach our own peak. And this path to our peaks are the years in school, through which our teacher, family and friends guide us. When we are little, the word "school" is an excitement and a challenge for us. Often it is the place that takes us away from play and fun. It starts perhaps with the different interactions - with teachers, classmates, different sciences. And we also start to change. We are learning patience, tolerance, but also a way to claim ourselves. And without realizing it, even in our early childhood, school becomes the basis for our development as people. When we hold our primary education document, we feel grown up. We start the next stage in our lives - high school. And it comes with its difficulties everything is already familiar to us, but the study material becomes more difficult, the student excitement becomes more complex. But all this is the experience of life, and having gone through it already, I appreciate these years as the best. The days are clear and orderly - with classmates. With them we study hard, we share our dreams, we often ask each other how we will look tomorrow, we get excited about the moment when we will cross the classroom threshold for the last time. And here it is - the moment is upon us, and we want to spend one more hour with the teachers, again eager for summer vacation or on a sleepless night studying for a difficult test. It's an exciting moment - when we have to leave the classroom for the last time, we want to enter it again - together. At least for another day, though all the difficulties. As a high school senior, I can say that this is one of the most challenging moments of my life so far. The twelve years left behind me are rich with joys, excitements and worries. I also remember the anxiety - will I make it or will I let myself down - and all this was happening at my school. I was crossing the threshold of my school for the first time, which was like a dream for me. Second Secondary School

"Professor Nikola Marinov"- Targovishte - this was the school where I dreamed of studying. That day is distant, but emotionally it is so close to today - the excitement with which I crossed the threshold of the high school without knowing anyone. And now I know everyone and I'm the same excitement, but this time I don't want to leave. My high school has given me more than I expected. The knowledge built up strength in me so I could to pass every step of the way. My high school met me with intelligent, ambitious and kind-hearted teachers! Each of them has left a mark in my heart -my classmates... today I feel them all as friends. They taught me how great the people you surround yourself with matter. Today, as I write my words, it's as if all the lessons pass through my mind like a tape, moments and days of school life - exciting and wonderfully difficult. And finally it is the joy that everyone has succeeded. Others will come after us , again facing through the unknown. And again they will be excited, worried and happy. But I already know for sure - when they leave their classrooms for the last time, they will turn around with tears in their eyes and they will not have been wrong to choose this school as their own. As I know it now. I also know that the next stage of my life is a continuation from the path I have traveled in school. And it has taught me that it is important to be educated, that knowledge is power, and that excellent grades become most important when you are behind them - with effort, imagination and your diligence. Believe me the end result is worth it! Dilek 12v class

Nikola Marinov Abadjiev was born on 10.07.1879 in the town of Eski Jumaya (today the town of Targovishte). He is a famous Bulgarian artist who mainly creates paintings, his preferred technique being watercolor. He painted portraits, most of them of women, and landscapes , characterized by rich shades of color. Nikola Marinov studied at the Art Academy in Turin. His teacher was Professor Grosso, who had a great influence on his artistic outlook. He graduated with a degree in painting with a gold medal in 1903 and remained painting in Italy for the next two years. After returning to Bulgaria (1906) he worked as a teacher in Sofia until 1919. During the period 1919-1921, he was a full-time artist at the Ministry of Public Education. In 1921, he became a professor at the Art Academy, where he taught until 1940. During the period 1935-1937, Marinov was rector of the Academy. Nikola Marinov died on December 16, 1948 in Sofia. We admire him for his paintings and his professionalism. Our school bears his name because it gives people a chance to become artists like him. Yoana Stefanova XII b class
