2 WHAT IS ESO? Elementary Science Olympiad is a great way to get your child involved and interested in various fields and subject matters having to do with science! ESO is a STEM extracurricular available for all 4th and 5th graders at all the elementary schools in the Camas School District. Students will learn about fundamental biology, chemistry, physics, inquiry, and engineering concepts through competing as groups in 5 different events each year that span a broad range of STEM related topics. Volunteer Opportunities Camas Science Olympiad is looking for parent volunteers in many levels of involvements. If you are a parent of middle school or high school, this is a great way to get involved with your child’s activities and to contribute to our Camas community. If you are a community member with STEM field skillsets, this is a great opportunity to help create the next generation of Camas grown scientists. Positions include but not limited to: event supervisors, event coaches, travel chaperones, and more. Please contact head coach, Matthew Chase ([email protected]) or the student officer team ([email protected]).

4 Our Mission Camas High Science Olympiad aims to get students interested in, and excited about science and engineering by providing STEM education for local K-12 youth through hosting a district wide elementary school tournament, nation-wide middle school/high school tournaments, and day camps for elementary school students annually. Our club is largely funded through student-run fundraisers such as our ESO Science Day Camps. Your generous contribution not only gives your child the opportunity to “explore the world of science,” but also helps our team. All proceeds will be used to cover the cost of running our Day Camps and CHS Science Olympiad club expenses including study/build materials, tournament travel expenses, and scholarships for students who would otherwise not be able to participate. We couldn’t do it without your support. Thank you!
