Visions of Fuerteventura

The project with the above mentioned name is an initiative from Tito Di Pippo, an Italian artist who has been living in Fuerteventura for about one year. The concept is to exhibit art from local artists in empty shops to promote their work and to embellish the com-mercial area at the same time. He started this initiative since March 2009 in the CC El Cam-panario, Corralejo and has already received much interest.

El proyecto que lleva este nombre es una iniciativa de Tito di Pippo, un artista italiano que lleva alrededor de un año viviendo en la isla. El concepto es el de exhibir el arte de artistas locales en tiendas o locales comerciales vacíos para así promover su obra y embellecer a la vez el área comercial en el que se encuentran dichos locales. Tito empezó esta iniciativa en Marzo de 2009 en el C.C. El Campanario de Corralejo y por el momento ha sido acogida con mucho interés.

Das Projekt mit dem oben genannten Namen ist eine Initiative von Tito Di Pippo, ein italienischer Künstler der seit etwa einem Jahr auf Fuerteventura lebt. Das Konzept ist es, Werke von einheimischen Künstlern auszustellen in den leer stehenden Shops, um ihre Arbeit vorzustellen und gleichzeitig die kommerzielle Zone zu verschönern. Er hat diese Initiative seit März 2009 im CC El Campanario, Corralejo ins Leben gerufen und bereits viel Interesse dafür erhalten.

Vallebrón, situated in a protected area and enclosed in a “U”-formed valley was once a very fertile farming area with hundreds of terraces and many wells. We start the climb about 300m below the new sightseeing point and continue in the direction of the “La Muda” mountain, a place of historic interest due to ancient discoveries. During the walk we can see the fig trees, cacti and mulberry trees but also historic ruins and some restored houses. Once on the top, we can enjoy the views to Tetir, the village that is surrounded by four volcanoes, the valley of Guisgey and the top of La Muda. We explain to you the flora, fauna, history, geology and then descend to the village of La Matilla. There we will enjoy a typical meal. The track has been recently restored by the Cabildo, the local government. Info: duration 3 hours Difficulty level: medium Min. age: 10.

Vallebrón, un paisaje protegido con un pueblo situado en un valle en forma de “U” con relieve de cuchillo, que antiguamente era un valle muy fértil con cientos de gavias y con muchos pozos. Empezamos la subida 300 m por debajo del nuevo mirador y seguimos en dirección a la montaña Muda (lugar de interés histórico por albergar un yacimiento). Durante la caminata podemos ver las higueras, tuneras y morales, también algunas ruinas antiguas y casas restauradas. Una vez arriba tenemos las preciosas vistas hacia Tetir (rodeado por cuatro volcanes), al valle de Guisguey, y a la cumbre de la Muda. Explicamos claramente sobre la flora, la fauna, la historiay la geología y bajamos al pueblo de La Matilla donde en un bar degustaremos una comida típica. Wir beginnen den Aufstieg ca. 300m unterhalb des neuen Aussichtspunkts und weiter in Richtung zum Berg “La Muda”, ein Ort von historischem Interesse durch die dort gemachten Ausgrabungen. Während der Wanderung sehen wir Feigenbäume, Kakteen und Morales, wie auch historische Ruinen und einige restaurierte Häuser. Wenn wir den Gipfel erreicht haben, können wir auf Tetir hinuntersehen, ein Dorf, das von vier Vulkanen, dem Tal Guisgey und den höheren Hänges des Berges La Muda umgeben ist. Wir zeigen und erklären Ihnen die Flora, Fauna, Geschichte und Geologie und steigen dann ab in die Ortschaft La Matilla. Dort werden wir eine typische Mahlzeit genießen. How many times do Microchips make people cry?

In many cases, they do enough for bad or for good times. However, it’s better to cry due to happiness. And then they return home with an immense feeling of pain and guilt about not having done such a simple thing that might have saved the life of their pet. It also is heartbreaking to see how pet owners present themselves at the pounds in their hope to encounter their 4-legged buddy, to see them shake their head when asked if the animal had a chip and to see them returning home with tears in their eyes. All this can be avoided in a simple way. Today.

El microchip, obligatorio en España, es una pequeña placa computerizada que tiene un número de identificación, que sirve para tener un control censal de perros y gatos y, lo que es más importante, que permite tener de forma inmediata todos los datos como son el nombre del animal y del dueño, dirección, teléfono, vacunas,… fundamental si la mascota se pierde, la roban o la abandonan. Se coloca una sola vez en la vida del animal y el precio es de aproximadamente unos 40€. Anualmente los Ayuntamientos hacen campañas en las cuales se pueden poner vacunas como la rabia más el microchip por 10€. Hay dueños que no lo ponen por dejadez, pero que dolorosas son las lágrimas cuando verdaderamente se ama a la mascota y esta se pierde para siempre por esta dejadez. Habrá quién se pregunte si un perro abandonado o perdido y encontrado tiene la “SUERTE” de ser llevado a una perrera. En ciertas perreras, pasados los 21 días, sacrifican a los animales que no han sido reclamados, y a veces muchos dueños llegan demasiado tarde, quedando con un terrible sentimiento de culpa por no haber hecho una práctica tan sencilla. Es lamentable ver a propietarios que llegan a la perrera con la esperanza de encontrar allí a su perro, y agachan la cabeza cuando se les pregunta si el animal tiene el microchip y contestando que “no”, se van desconsolados. Todo esto se puede evitar. Desde hoy.

Und dann sind sie wieder zu Hause, mit einem ungeheuren Gefühl von Schmerz und Schuldgefühlen wegen einer so einfachen Sache, die das Leben ihres Begleiters gerettet hätte. Es ist auch herzzerreißend zu sehen, wie Tierhalter in der Perrera reagieren, in der Hoffnung ihren 4-beinigen Kumpel zu finden, und sie schütteln den Kopf, wenn Sie gefragt werden, ob das Tier einen Chip hatte.....um sie dann mit Tränen in den Augen nach Hause gehen sehen . Se pueden distinguir 3 zonas principales: la norte, que cuenta con el casco Viejo; la centro, que se ha ido construyendo durantes los últimos 20 años; y la sur, que es la que se ha construido recientemente. Lugares de interés son la avenida principal con gran cantidad de tiendas, el complejo de Hoplaco, el casco viejo con sus numerosos bares y restaurantes, la zona del puerto, y un poquito mas al fondo, el paseo marítimo con sus maravillosas vistas a las islas de Lobos y Lanzarote. Corralejo – playas. Corralejo cuenta con numerosas playas. Hay una pequeñita en pleno centro del casco Viejo, cerca de la oficina de turismo, donde juegan la mayoría de los niños que aquí residen. La siguiente playa comienza en el complejo de Hoplaco y se extiende a lo largo de unos 750 m. Ambas son las playas del pueblo. Pero las playas más famosas empiezan cuando sales de la urbanización de Corralejo hacia Puerto del Rosario. Aquí encontraras kilómetros de playas de arena blanca, aguas color azul-turquesa, el parque natural de las dunas, maravillosas vistas al islote de Lobos, surfistas y ….tranquilidad. Si te apetece comer algo en la playa hay dos chiringuitos de madera donde todavía lo puedes hacer El Cotillo – pueblo. Las zonas más interesantes del pueblo son la zona del antiguo puerto con buenos restaurantes y donde se respira tranquilidad, y la zona del puerto nuevo con increíbles vistas de las playas hacia el sur. Ambos lugares ofrecen unas espectaculares vistas al atardecer. Inolvidables!!! El Cotillo – playas. Las playas del norte del Cotillo son en realidad lagunas protegidas de las enormes olas del Atlántico por arrecifes de lava. Aquí suele haber “piscinas”, que se crean de forma natural al subir la marea, que con su agua caliente y poca profundidad son perfectas para los niños, (pero no dejes por ello de controlarles). Hacia el sur del Cotillo encontraras espectaculares playas, muy conocidas entre la comunidad surfista ya que las olas llegan aquí con toda su fuerza. Esta zona es perfecta para disfrutar del atardecer en total privacidad… Lajares – pueblo. Lajares es un pueblo tranquilo que acoge a la mayoría de los talleres fabricantes de material de windsurf y sur, ya que se encuentra situado en el centro de las principales zonas surferas: Corralejo, costa norte (north shore) y Cotillo. En el centro del pueblo también hay un taller-tienda de calados típicos majoreros. Lajares - paseo por el volcán. Hacia el norte de Lajares en la carretera que va a Majanicho, encontraras una zona para aparcar de la que sale una pista de tierra que te lleva hasta el volcán llamado Morro de Bayuyo. Se recomienda llevar zapatos para caminar o deportivas y como mínimo 1.5 litro de agua. También te sugerimos que hagas este recorrido lo mas temprano posible por la mañana, ya que así no tendrás el sol pegando fuerte cuando regreses y podrás disfrutar a la vez de un inolvidable amanecer. Duración del paseo: 3 horas La Oliva – pueblo. La Oliva es el centro administrativo del norte de la isla. Es un tranquilo pueblo con una bonita iglesia y donde se encuentra la famosa “Casa de los Coroneles” recientemente restaurada. También cuenta con un museo sobre la agricultura de la isla (ver la página de museos de la isla). 30 spirit
