During this test period, classes will begin as usual at 7:30 a.m. and will end at 12:45 p.m. Students MUST GO HOME immediately after each day´s exams have ended. Students are not permitted to remain on any school premises once they have completed their exams. Durante este periodo, todos los exámenes iniciarán a las 7:30a.m. y terminarán a las 12:45 p.m. Los estudiantes se retirarán a sus hogares después de haber terminado los exámenes y está prohibido que permanezcan en los predios de la escuela una vez terminados el horario asignado.

I. ENGLISH LANGUAGE: In preparation for the 2nd term examination students should study all class notes, journals and discussions. They should also review the 2014 Coursebook, Workbook and Grammar material we have studied so far. This year's exam will have the following format: Paper 2 - Composition - Argumentative or Discursive Writing.  You should write between 600 and 900 words  25 marks are available Paper 1 - Passages. Part A: Comment on the ways in which language and style are used….. [15 marks are available ] Below are points that will assist you in preparation:  Read the question carefully, comment only on the aspects required in the question.  Remember to identify distinguishing features of the texts, relate them to the function and context of the writing, and organize information in their answers  Always comment on aspects such as vocabulary, figurative language (e.g. use of metaphor and simile), word ordering and sentence structure, formality/informality of tone, and the communication of attitudes, bias or prejudice, structure  Write for a specific purpose and/or audience using appropriate vocabulary, tone, and style. Part B. Write a section (between 120–150 words) of this article. Base your answer closely on the style and features of the writing in the original extract. [10 marks are available ]
