PREPARING TO STUDY Having a study plan and preparing to study before you start is very important. Use these handouts to help you get organized, understand the tools you need for class and not become overwhelmed when studying at home or confused when taking notes in class. 15

YOUR STUDY SPACE Have your notebook and pens or pencils ready! Keep a timer to track your breaks; try not to use your phone. Keep your study supplies organized in one place. Have a spot for your textbook or computer. Make sure you have a comfy chair with back support. How to Organize Keep open space for you to work. 17

THE PROCESS OF STUDYING Learning the process of studying is very important if any student hopes to grow and improve their studying habits. These handouts introduce two ways students can learn studying "The 4 Steps of Studying" and "The 3 R's of Studying.” Review these handouts with your child and help them practice the steps of studying at home. 25

Record Review Revisit Record Listen in Class Read At Home Always Take Notes Write down and take notes about the information you learn: (1) in class and (2) from reading your textbook at home. Review Review your notes from class and from your reading time at home. Use different memorization techniques to remember and understand the information from your notes.
