People Training for Dogs (tb)

People Training for Dogs Continued

Does your dog take you for a walk or run away when you call them? Get them trained with Roc Solid Obedience! This educational class teaches you how to recognize and control problems before they become unmanageable. Your dog learns to heel, sit, down, stay, stand for a veterinary exam, and come when called. Free course repeats as needed! All dogs are required to be up-to-date on immunizations (Rabies, Parvo, and Distemper) with a negative stool sample checked no more than two weeks prior to the first class and documented by your pet’s veterinarian. Please do not bring your dog to the first day of class. Dogs five months or older are welcome. First 3 classes are mandatory.

This five-week class is designed to strengthen your dog’s on-leash skills and prove basic level obedience commands already learned in the previous class. This class will begin the move toward off-leash control by adding more distance, duration, and distractions to your stationary exercises. New commands will include: stand, formal finish, moving sit and down, and hand signals for commands. This class is only open to Roc Solid Obedience clients that have completed our basic six-week class.

ABC-123 PRESCHOOL 2023-2024 School Year

Preschool registration for the 2023-2024 school year is going on now. Registration is held at the Charles R. Beggs Activity Center located at 0N020 County Farm Road. The 2023-2024 school year begins September 5th & 6th, and will conclude in May 2024. Preschool takes the same scheduled days off as the Winfield School District #34, however winter break may differ. We are also off on the days they cancel due to bad weather. We are in session on their half days and teacher workshop days.

Preschool Policies: •

• • •

Proof of birth date is required for all children enrolled in the preschool program, even if they are enrolled in an additional park district program. Please bring a copy of your child’s birth certificate that may be kept on file. A $100 non-refundable registration fee is required. Children must be toilet trained when classes begin. All preschool fees are paid monthly, in advance, by the 15th of each month. For example, a March preschool payment is due by February 15th.

Our Philosophy Our ABC-123 Preschool is guided by the philosophy of learning through play. Play is where the child learns how to share, create, cooperate, interact, and solve problems. Because each child is a unique individual, emphasis is placed on developing a positive self-concept. The preschool environment will encourage acceptance and growth of each child. Support for all children will be provided by a loving and knowledgeable staff in a collaborative working partnership with the family, park district and school district. The children will gain experience in art, singing, games, storytelling, cooking, rhythm, and movement. Through these activities the child develops self control, physical coordination, and social skills. Our curriculum includes Jollyphonics, a child centered approach to teaching literacy through synthetic phonics. Activities are presented in individual, group, structured, and unstructured settings. Our primary aim is for each child to develop a love of learning and a positive self image. For more information regarding our preschool program, please contact (630) 653-3811 ext. 114.

DANCE Winfield Park District Dance is collaborating with Front Street Dance Studio to offer studio-quality instruction. The program is designed for young dancers to practice this art in a healthy and supportive environment, which remains affordable to residents. High quality instructors teach specialty classes to prepare students to express themselves creatively through an array of dance styles. Skills learned will be demonstrated on the last day of class.

FRONT STREET DANCE

Styles Hip Hop: Fun, quick-paced, and energetic. Students learn to coordinate movements with music and are encouraged to express themselves as individuals. Students wear t-shirt, shorts, and comfortable athletic pants with clean gym shoes. Ballet: We teach the Cecchetti method of Ballet, which has been taught for many years in the Ballet world and is the same method practiced in many college programs and professional companies. This method also uses a structured syllabus that is known to progress students logically through Ballet technique from Beginner to Advanced levels. Students wear leotard, tights, ballet skirt (optional) and ballet shoes. Tap: Sharpens reflexes and improves memory skills and coordination. Beginning classes will work toward establishing fundamental tap movements, vocabulary and will work on basic rhythms and steps that progress into fun and lively dance combinations. More advanced classes will involve more intricate rhythms and combinations. Tap dancing is a great way to develop musicality, timing and balance.
