COMPETENCIAS Básicas y generales CG2 - Exponer a un nivel avanzado ideas y reflexiones en el ámbito del análisis y la crítica del proyecto arquitectónico. CE7 - Evaluar con nivel avanzado las herramientas propias de la proyectación arquitectónica útiles para la cualificación y regeneración de espacios urbanos. CE8 - Analizar y elegir a un nivel avanzado los instrumentos intelectuales y gráficos que respondan adecuadamente a los requerimientos arquitectónicos. CE11 - Compaginar la eficacia funcional con la excelencia estética y la belleza a un nivel avanzado, entendiendo la arquitectura como servicio a la sociedad. PROGRAMA Synopsis The seminar explores the role of construction in the development of modern architecture construction as a fact of new demands, technologies and materials ... but equally construction as ideas, as expressive language, and as a mode of architectural discourse. Method The seminar consists of a series of eight lectures and discussions led by the instructor, richly illustrated by extensive Powerpoint images. Students will choose a topic from a broad selection, investigate it, and make a presentation to the class at the end of the seminar. Evaluation will be divided equally between class participation and the final presentation. Resources Readings, many from primary sources, support the lectures and discussions. While there are a considerable number of readings, most are short several pages each. The goal is to have the student get a sense of the values and intensity of the ideas shaping modern architecture rather than a detailed scholarly accounting. All of the readings will be supplied by the instructor in PDF form on a DVD disk at the beginning of the seminar. Schedule Day 1 Part I Introduction to the course . . .
