When the stakes are high, and the darkness succumbs to our aspirations, we rise to rekindle our light of change WITHIN. As we step into another epoch of academic excellence, the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) Claveria illuminates its function of contributing to national development through its unparalleled service to the country. Galvanizing our thrust in realizing the 10-year Strategic Plan of the USTP System, we raised the bar in rising as the CHAMPION in our significant niches in Food, Agriculture, and Environment by Catalyzing the creation of innovations, Hastening and implementing more responsive extension services, Advancing the agri-industry collaborations, Modernizing university facilities, equipment, & services, Producing quality and ready workforce, Increasing the graduates' employability & earning power, Operating a state-of-the-art Agri-enterprises and Nurturing the knowledge-based economy. USTP Claveria Campus | FY 2022 Annual Report We were able to lead in providing answers to national and global issues, especially on food security, environmental preservation, and energy sufficiency. Noteworthy increase in number of cited research of our constituents which rose from 16 (Q4, 2021) to 30 in the 1st Quarter of 2022, 70 in the 2nd Quarter up to significantly higher in the recent at 127 Citations. Our Extension and Community Relations Office forged collaborations to spearhead the recognition of the PANDEMIC (Productive Agriculture for National Development through Entrepreneurial Mindset and innovative Culture) Farm as a Learning Site for Agriculture (LSA) of Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) last January 21, 2022. Moreover, we were able to strengthen our linkages with our partners for development as the Office of Student Affairs signed an agreement with Globe Telecom Inc. which sponsored “Campus Connect Package for Schools” from March 2022 to March 2023. Gearing to the modernization of the university facilities, equipment, and services, our university took its stand in providing state-of-the-art and sufficient resources to attain ease of doing business. For the last quarter of 2022, we were able to accomplish the improvement of Road Network and Drainage Phase 2 and the Water System and Irrigation of the Campus. The construction of the Research Innovation Center and 4- Storey 33 Rooms International Dormitory Phase III, and the conversion of the Old Auditorium into Multi-Purpose Training Center Phase III are now on-going. Meanwhile, in capacitating our faculty, staff, and students to become trailblazers and innovators, we strive to produce quality and ready workforce by the different strategies we implemented. Our Smart Classrooms are now functional through the efforts of the Digital Transformation Office in collaboration with the Campus Information and Communication Technology Unit which both facilitated the training of competent faculty members to lead the use of the facility. Forming the core functions of the university, the outcomes of the University’s quest for holistic development of the learners shall lead to raise our graduates’ career and economic welfare. The Bachelor of Food Processing and Technology (BFPT) program has been granted Level III Re-accredited status by the AACCUP, Inc. after the assessment of the program’s compliance of the mandatory requirements as recommended prior to the award of its Level III accreditation (per AACCUP letter dated June 22, 2022). The PhD in Crop Science program was also granted Level II Reaccredited status while the PhD in Animal Science was Candidate Status after both programs underwent the AACCUP Online Accreditation Survey on April 18-22, 2022 (per AACCUP letter dated June 22, 2022).On May 27, June 6, and June 15, 2022, USTP Claveria conducted a series of Curriculum Review per program in collaboration with the Office of Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (VCAA) and the Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning (CiTL). For the January 2022 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET), a 75% Overall Passing Rate of the campus for Secondary Level was achieved. This result highlights the remarkable 100% passing rate streak in 5 consecutive teachers’ board examinations in a row by the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture major in Agricultural Education Program since 2018. Nearly four (4) decades since the existence of MOSCAT/USTP-Claveria in 1983 with its first batch of graduates in 1987, it has now produced the first ever Summa Cum Laude during the 36th Commencement Exercises successfully held in USTP-Claveria Gymnasium, Poblacion, Claveria, Misamis Oriental last September 1, 2022.


USTP Claveria Campus | FY 2022 Annual Report We are now ready to train the workforce of tomorrow while supporting the metamorphosis of today. For admissions, First Semester of AY 2022-2023 gained one thousand four hundred thirty-one (seven hundred twenty-six (726) male and seven hundred three (703) female) students who took the University’s entrance exam. Of these takers, only one thousand four hundred twenty-nine (1,429) passed the University of Science and Technology Admission Test (USTAT). For the First Semester of Academic Year 2022-2023, a total of 3,501 students are enrolled; 76 are from the graduate programs and 3,249 are enrollees of baccalaureate degrees and 176 are enrollees of short-term course on Dairy Farm Assistantship. On the 2nd Quarter of 2022, an MS Crop Science Student was among the FIVE (5) Provincial Winners of Misamis Oriental during the PROVINCIAL YOUNG FARMERS CHALLENGE (YFC) PROVINCIAL AWARDS 2022 held in Harbor Lights Hotel and Restaurant in Gusa, Cagayan de Oro City on September 1, 2022. In addition, a BS in Agriculture-4 Crop Science Student of USTP-Claveria reigned as among the three (3) national winners of the 2022 Youth in Agripreneurship Program (YAP) Agribusiness Pitching Competition held last November 23-25, 2022, via Zoom, being organized by the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) through the Partnerships and Accreditation Division (PAD). 2022 has truly become a kaleidoscope of myriad opportunities for the campus. This year testified for our firm belief that when we do things extraordinarily for one common cause, we become greater than our fears and stronger than our setbacks. The duty of leading the path towards excellence and development has been a tough fight to combat. Behind all these milestones are the sincere efforts of each USTP Claveria Trailblazer towards reaching the goals of our university. In these challenging times of manifold adversities, our commitment to quality education and dedicated service to the community has become more indispensable than ever. P a g e | 1 USTP Claveria Campus | FY 2022 Annual Report ABOUT USTP CLAVERIA he USTP Claveria is one of the three (3) major campuses of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines located in the idyllic town of Claveria, Misamis Oriental, Philippines. A campus invigorated with natural fresh air, clean, cool, and friendly environment. It was known as Claveria National Rural High School (CNRHS) from 1967 to 1983. In 1983, it was converted into Misamis Oriental State College of Agriculture and Technology (MOSCAT) by virtue of Batas Pambansa Blg 402. In 2017, by virtue of RA 10919, thru its merger with Mindanao University of Science and Technology (MUST), it became USTP Claveria. It sits at an elevation 600m above sea level, overlooking Macajalar and Gingoog Bays. The campus prides itself on its God-given gifts of invigorating natural fresh air, green, tranquil scenes, and a peaceful environment far from the hullabaloo of the city. The campus is 81.8km away from Laguindingan International Airport and can be reached an hour’s drive northeast of the province’s capital city, Cagayan de Oro. Through the years, USTP-Claveria has been renowned for quality education, ensuring the students’ mental and physical skills development and their holistic personality from freshmen to future professionals. The school produces competitive graduates according to its niche—agriculture, environment, and food. It has three colleges offering eleven undergraduate programs, one master’s degree program, and two doctorate programs. The College of Agriculture, a holder of a Center of Development for Agriculture, offers five undergraduate programs: BS in Agriculture, BS in Agroforestry, Bachelor of Technology in Horticulture Management, Bachelor of Agricultural Technology, Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education, major in Agri-Fishery Arts. Its Graduate School offers three programs, namely, MS in Agriculture, major in Animal and Crop science), Doctor of Philosophy in Animal Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Crop Science. 2 | P a g e USTP Claveria Campus | FY 2022 Annual Report The College of Engineering and Technology is home to six (6) undergraduate programs: BS Environmental Engineering, BS in Agriculture and Biosystems Engineering, Bachelor of Food Processing and Technology, BS in Hospitality Management, and BS in Information and Technology. On the other hand, the College of Arts and Sciences offers BS Social Work (BSSW) and further services the colleges in providing its general education courses. USTP-Claveria continues to expand and strengthen its facilities and faculty force, as it aims to open more programs soon. The University is a nationally recognized Science and Technology University providing the vital link between education and the economy. The mission of the University is to: • Bring the world of work (industry) into the actual higher education and training of students, • Offer entrepreneurs the opportunity to maximize their business potential through a gamut of services from product conceptualization to commercialization, and • Contribute significantly to the National Development Goals of food security and energy sufficiency through technological solutions. 10 | P a g e USTP Claveria Campus | FY 2022 Annual Report INNOVATION AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOP and implement strategies in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship Fostering Innovation Towards Intellectual Property Protection and Technology Commercialization: USTP Claveria Kickoff USTP Claveria has created two new offices, namely the Innovation and Technology Support Office and the Technology Commercialization and Promotions Office. These two new offices are established to facilitate the capacity building of USTP Claveria faculty members, and research staff and technicians towards fostering innovations that can provide solutions to current and pressing industry problems. As a kickoff activity of these two new offices, with the support of the USTP System Technology Promotions and Commercialization Office and Innovation and Technology Support Office, an Intellectual Property and Technology Commercialization Awareness and Strategic Planning was conducted last February 3-24, 2022, which was attended by the USTP Claveria Chancellor, Vice Chancellors, Deans, Research Directors and the faculty members and research staff of the campus. The activity was conducted in a hybrid format – some participants are in Zoom Meeting and others are on-site. On February 16-18 and 21, 2022, a four-day Patent Search and Patent Draft Writeshop was conducted and was attended by select faculty researchers from the three colleges of the campus, as well as the staff from the research office, who already have their technologies for

In this activity, the participants were oriented on the prior art search and strategies to come up with their patent search report. Patent drafting was also discussed by the TPCO team, and on the last day, the participants were able to present their Patent Draft to the TPCO Team for critiquing. On September 8, 9 and 12, 2022, Dr. Ronelo Cablinda (CA Faculty), Ms. Jasmin Carawana (CET) and Ms. Elvira Cabanas (CAS Faculty) attended the Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Awareness and Patent Search Writeshop at 4th Floor Makerspace LRC, Building USTP-CDO. The first day was conducted virtually. Engr. Clark Darwin M. Gozon talked his topic about Intellectual Property System (Patent, Utility Model, Copyright, Trademark and Industrial). Engr. Gladdi Christie H. Compasan talked about the importance and principles of IP and USTP IP Policy. She emphasized the purpose of Intellectual Property and its relevance to Universities. After that, Dr. Venessa A. Garcia talked about Technology Transfer Process and Protocol of USTP. The second and third day was the part one and two of the Patent Search Writeshop. On September 9, 2022, Engr. Jodie Rey Fernandez shared his topic about Patent Information. He discussed the following: 1) Patent System Objectives; 2) how Patent System works; and 3) Role and Types of Patent Information. Engr. Clark Darwin M. Gozon then talked about the Patent Search Strategies. He discussed in details about the steps in patent search. Furthermore, he discussed the International Patent Classification, and the classifications, principles & rules on Patent Document Classification. The last session of the 3-Day Training/Workshop was intended for the Patent Search Output Presentation and Critiquing.


12 | P a g e USTP Claveria Campus | FY 2022 Annual Report USTP CLAVERIA INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY APPLICATIONS Two (2) inventions were filed by USTP Claveria through the USTP System Technology Promotions and Commercialization Office (TPCO) - Innovation and Technology Support Unit (ITSU), to the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL). USTP Claveria wins USTP System-wide Pitching Competition Ms Jackielyn Abao, Ms Dyna Gorre, and Ms Judife Magallanes were adjudged as the over-all Champion in the System-Wide Pitching Competition during the 3-Day Faculty Bootcamp for Entrepreneurial Courses at USTP CDO on March 28-30, 2022.


P a g e | 13 USTP Claveria Campus | FY 2022 Annual Report USTP Claveria Faculty Members join Filipinnovation Entrepreneurship Corps Three faculty members of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines – Claveria attended the Filipinnovation Entrepreneurship Corps (FEC) hosted by the De La Salle University and the USTP Innovation and Technology Solutions Office last July 27, 2022 (kick-off training) until August 31, 2022 (graduation). Engr. Val Irvin F. Mabayo, Ms. Dyna F. Gorre, and Mr. Arnel Travero, joined the said training with their two technologies on Hagonoy Extract and Sisal Plant Fiber. The said training provided the team with real-world, hands-on learning experience with customer discovery and successfully transferring knowledge into products and processes that benefit society. The team also engaged with the industry and spent time talking to and learning from customers, partners, and competitors, and learned how to deal with the chaos and uncertainty of commercializing innovations and creating ventures. Several faculty of USTP Claveria attended the System-wide Curriculum Review and Mapping for the Entrepreneurs Path on April 26, 2022. 14 | P a g e USTP Claveria Campus | FY 2022 Annual Report USTP Claveria Faculty joins Three-Day System-wide Faculty Bootcamp for Entrepreneurial Courses Dr. Allen Rhay Bayantong, Mr. Limuel Magallon, Ms. Sheree Ann Mopos, Ms. Analiza Paaño, Ms. Aubrey Lavarez, Prof. Casimero Icalina, Ms. Jackielyn Abao, Mr. Renan Octavio, Mr. Rosewin Sevandal, Ms. Ethel Rose Ranque and Ms. Phobe Jane Limos attended the 3-Day System-wide Faculty Bootcamp for Entrepreneurial Courses on September 7, 8 & 12, 2022 at USTP Claveria’s Function Hall. This training serves as a motivation for every faculty to continue working for innovations. Each lecturer first gave an overview of the entrepreneurship and technology program and then immediately supervised the participants to present outputs as a group. This also allowed the participants to present ideas and be critiqued, to improve the proposed innovations related to the participant’s field of expertise. The most awaited part of the training was the pitching competition. It served as the final presentation, which included the problem-solution of the product until the realization of putting the product or service into action.

16 | P a g e USTP Claveria Campus | FY 2022 Annual Report H O N O R G R A D U A T E S Nearly four (4) decades since the existence of MOSCAT/USTP-Claveria in 1983 with its first batch of graduates in 1987, it has now produced the first ever Summa Cum Laude during the 36th Commencement Exercises successfully held in USTP-Claveria Gymnasium, Poblacion, Claveria, Misamis Oriental last September 1, 2022. MS. JANES M. OHAGAN, a BS in Agriculture graduate major in Crop Science, proved her mettle by clinching the most elusive and the most coveted academic award long been dreamt of by any MOSCAT/USTP student since the 1980s, the first ever Summa Cum Laude (highest academic distinction). With a comfortable Grade Weighted Average (GWA) since 1st year to 4th year of 1.16, Janes has made history as an Aggie trailblazer to have achieved such honor not just to the College of Agriculture, but to the whole USTP-Claveria academic community as well, and the whole USTP system. Janes has been a consistent dean’s lister since her first year, being among the Ten Outstanding Aggie Students for AY 2018-2019 conferred by the Dean’s Office of the College of Agriculture, and among the winners of various in-campus and off-campus competitions. These include the university scholarship, DOST scholarship, Del Monte Foundation Scholarship, aside from with free education. Aside from excelling in her academics, Janes had indulged herself in various social responsibilities such as being an active President of the Agriculture Student Council for AY 2020-2021, and an Officer of the USTP -Claveria University Student Government in the succeeding years. With the 75% Overall Passing Rate of the campus for Secondary Level, this recent result highlights the remarkable 100% passing rate streak in 5 consecutive teachers’ board examinations in a row by the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture major in Agricultural Education Program. October 2022 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) In the October 2022 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET), USTP Claveria got 42.86% (3/7) passing rate for Elementary Education while 42.22% (19/45) in Secondary Education. November 2022 Agriculturist Licensure Examination (ALE) The November 2022 Agriculturist Licensure Examination (ALE) conducted by the Professional Regulation Commission has added 32 newly licensed agriculturists from USTP Claveria.

Out of 161 graduates, 153 students were tracked employed, while 3 (1.86%) were unemployed, and 5 (3.11%) were not tracked. Figure 2. The QAA Office organized and facilitated the Online Orientation on IMs Copyrighting for the faculty members of the Claveria Campus on November 11, 2022 via Zoom online platform. Engr. Gladdy Christie H. Compasan, Manager of the Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO), was the resource speaker of the activity. The QAA Office has also facilitated the 1st round of IMs review and evaluation on October 25, 2022. One IM from the College of Engineering and Technology – Chem 214 was reviewed and evaluated by the IMRC. The QAA Office consolidated the result in the review and evaluation of the same manual and issued the result to the CET. P a g e | 35 USTP Claveria Campus | FY 2022 Annual Report Youth Leaders School-Based Anti-Illegal Drugs Advocacy Training of Trainers Last July 21 – 22, 2022, CHED (Commission on Higher Education) in partnership with PDEA (Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency) conducted a Youth Leaders School-Based Anti-Illegal Drugs Advocacy Training of Trainers with the theme: “Empowerment Begins with Awareness. Share Facts on Drugs, Saves Lives”. Happened at Platinum Ballroom Hall, Mallberry Suites Business Hotel. This activity was in accordance with the pertinent provisions of Republic Act No. 7722 otherwise known as the “Higher Education Act of 1994” and Executive Order No. 66 “Institutionalizing the Philippine Anti-Illegal Drugs Strategy”. USTP 6th Charter Day Celebration: Student Leaders Student Leaders Summit is a one-day celebration on August 19, 2022 – 10:00AM to 10:00PM at USTP Cagayan de Oro Campus that culminates the USTP 6th Charter Day Celebration. It is gathering of all student leaders across the USTP System that celebrates #OneUSTP. This event offers a recognized venue for student leaders from different USTP Campuses to get together to discuss their leadership obstacles and consider viable solutions. The event incorporates various activities and sessions that will help create the sense of a true trailblazer. Also, the student display their skills in numerous domains at the USTP Talents and also at the Student leaders Social and Testimonial Night 2022 where they exhibit outstanding leadership in obtaining excellence testimonies.


36 | P a g e USTP Claveria Campus | FY 2022 Annual Report PSABE-PPG USTP Claveria Chapter attends 26th Mindanao-Wide ABE Convention Twenty-seven (27) students of the Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering of USTP Claveria attended the 26th Mindanao-Wide ABE Convention held at Central Mindanao University, Musuan, Bukidnon on November 9-11, 2022. The USTP Claveria delegation, composing of student leaders and members of the USTP Claveria Chapter of the PSABE-PreProfessional Group were accompanied by their Advisers/Personnel-in-charge, Engrs. Xylene Zhixelle S Layno and Analiza Marie E Paaño. The following ABE students attended and won the following competitions: • Vlog contest participated by Renz Jeremy Onipa - 6th Place • Volleyball: Women (Team with USM) – 2nd Place • Basketball: Men (team with USM) – 2nd Place


P a g e | 37 USTP Claveria Campus | FY 2022 Annual Report USTP-Claveria Students Victorious in 26th Philippine Statistics Quiz – Misamis Oriental Provincial Elimination Team USTP Claveria bragged 3rd, 5th and 6th places during the Provincial Elimination of the 26th Philippine Statistics Quiz in the province of Misamis Oriental which was held in Chali Beach Resort, Cugman, CDO City last October 19, 2022. A total of eighteen (18) participants competed representing the six (6) colleges and universities in the province. Mr. Carl L. Achame (BSA-1) clinched 3rd place, Mr. Abe Isaac A. Galendez (BSA-1) placed 5th and Ms. Dianne A. Placibe (BTLEd-1) wound-up 6th, at a highly competitive statistics quiz that composed of three (3) qualifying and final rounds. Mr. Achame who won 3rd place, along with the 1st and 2nd placers qualified for Region X Elimination slated on November 14, 2022 in Cagayan de Oro City.

42 | P a g e USTP Claveria Campus | FY 2022 Annual Report USTP-Claveria Aggie Student Receives Awards as Among ATI’s National Winners of 2022 Youth in Agripreneurship Program Pitching Competition Ms. Ressie A. Umaran, BS in Agriculture-4 Crop Science Student of USTP-Claveria, is among the three (3) national winners of the 2022 Youth in Agripreneurship Program (YAP) Agribusiness Pitching Competition held last November 23- 25, 2022 via Zoom, being organized by the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) through the Partnerships and Accreditation Division (PAD) . Ms. Umaran’s winning project proposal entitled “Naturally Grown Black Rice Production” was adjudged among the 3 best at the national level under the Intermediate Category, with the other two (2) winners hailing both from the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR). She is the lone winner from Region X. There were also 3 national winners each from other categories such as the Beginner and Advanced Levels. The feasibility and sustainability of the proposals were among the criteria used by the national evaluators for choosing the winners. Awarding ceremony took place at the Agricultural Training Institute in Quezon City on December 19, 2022, with Ressie to receive an enticing cash award for financial assistance of the project and a plaque of recognition from ATI. Faculty Profile In strengthening USTP Claveria’s workforce, the administration through the HRMO significantly facilitated the successful filling up of important non-teaching plantilla positions and one faculty plantilla item, promotion of 17 faculty members through NBC 461, s. 1998 Cycle 8 implementation, reappointment of 2 faculty members to permanent positions, renewal of 16 temporary faculty members, and the augmentation of 100 COS faculty and 136 nonteaching staff under Job Order status. More so, the office has also contributed to the preparations for ROSS proposal as one major campus hoping to get more non-teaching plantilla items to fully support its academic programs and has assisted the VCAA and the deans in the successful processing of the scrap and build of faculty positions, abolishing 3 higher faculty positions and created 8 Instructor positions to further strengthen the 3 colleges’ structure. The creation of these positions would support the departments that need certification of program compliance.
