Dear Sisters and Brothers, We conclude this weekend the ‘Interesting Facts” about the soon to be canonized Blessed Junipero Serra. Did you know that when Father Serra died in 1784 he had established nine California missions wherein 5,800 Native Americans were baptized since his arrival in 1769? Those nine missions grew to 21. Today, approximately 60 percent of the state's nearly 39 million people live in areas surrounding the missions, and El Camino Real, the road that Father Serra traveled on a tour of the missions shortly before his death, established a major artery running much of the length of the state. Did you know that every state of the Union is represented by the statues of two individuals from the state's history? Father Serra and Ronald Reagan represent Californians in the U.S. Capitol. Recently the California State Legislature voted to remove Father Serra’s statue and replace it with a statue of astronaut Sally Ride. Governor Jerry Brown has a veto option to reverse this decision. DO YOU LOVE TO SHARE GOD’S WORD WITH CHILDREN? Dismissal leaders are needed in RCIA for our young children who are preparing for the sacraments of initiation. If you would be willing to lead a small group of children during the 9 AM mass, one Sunday a month starting in September, 2015 through May 2016, a training meeting will be held in September. Dismissal leaders lead the children to understand the story of the Gospel and the message that Jesus brings each Sunday. It is a rewarding ministry with minimal time commitment. Requirements are that the leader has completed all sacraments of initiation, is a registered member of the parish, and will attend a training session, complete mandatory fingerprinting requirements and online safe environment training. Dismissal leader training session will be held on Thursday, September 3, Room C, 7:30 to 9 PM. CALL NOW TO REGISTER for the training or if you need further information. Knitting and Crochet Ministry Thank you ladies for sharing your time and stiches of love. This year we have made baskets filled with beautiful caps, infant blankets and scarves. The caps were shared with the Women’s Wellness Center of Mission Hospital, for women who have been diagnosed with cancer. The infant blankets were given to Birth-Choice, and the scarves were shared with our seniors in the assisted living homes and with our shelter-less community. Ladies, without your gifts, and your desire to share your time and love, there would not be a ministry of love. Thank you. Our Knitting and Crotchet Group has 20 parish members who meet on the first Tuesday of the month from 9:30-11:00 in the Parish office. If you have a willing heart, and a desire to help, we would be happy to show you how to knit or crotchet. Our next meeting will begin September 1st. You are welcome to join us. PREGUNTA DE REFLEXION DE LA SEMANA 17mo. Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario: Un Solo Señor 26 de Julio, Ciclo 2Reyes 4:42-44 Efesios 4:1-6 Juan 6:1-15 Tema: “Un gran profeta ha surgido entre nosotros. Dios ha visitado a su pueblo” Adultos: ¿Cuándo es que el regalo generoso de alguien me ha ofrecido esperanza? Niños: ¿Qué don de amor puedo ofrecer a los demás esta semana?

MENSAJE DE LA SEMANA: Nos encontramos para RENOVAR NUESTRA FE en el Señor Jesús y nuestro compromiso de seguir realizando su proyecto, que no es otro que el proyecto del Padre: un mundo NUEVO, más fraterno, más justo. Éste es el test de nuestra realidad creyente. Hemos venido a alimentarnos de su Palabra y del Pan de la Vida. Es la propuesta. El evangelio de hoy volverá a presentarnos uno de los SIGNOS (palabra muy importante en el evangelio de Juan): es la multiplicación de los panes y de los peces. Jesús nos deja este signo de compartir, como un pre-anuncio de lo que poco más tarde nos ofrecerá: ÉL MISMO como el PAN DE VIDA, con capacidad de saciar el hambre de cuantos se le acercan y le acogen en sus vidas. Y es que Dios no es indiferente al sufrimiento y a la soledad de los hombres; así lo demuestra en su Hijo Jesús que se compadeció de aquella multitud hambrienta. Quien se compadece, como Jesús, multiplica los cinco panes. Celebrar la EUCARISTÍA (= la fracción del Pan) es asumirle a Él como aquel que llena nuestras vidas; es saber compartir como Él mismo hace; es trabajar por construir la fraternidad que en Ella se significa. Así, un día más, se nos hace una invitación a CRECER en nuestra fe, viviendo al estilo de Jesús, y empeñándonos, como Él, en saciar el hambre de los hermanos. Cada uno, según sus posibilidades, hace posible el milagro. ¡Dichoso quien, como Jesús, se hace PAN de VIDA: porque disfrutará del PROYECTO DEL REINO! Necesitamos descansar, descansar junto a Él. Sólo desde Él nos puede venir esa paz y sosiego. Este domingo es una buena oportunidad y una buena invitación. Dios mismo es el PASTOR bueno que nos cuida (1ª lectura) y “ahora estáis en Cristo Jesús” (2ª lectura). ¡Qué más se puede pedir! Queridos Hermanos y Hermanas, Concluimos este fin de semana con los “datos Iinteresantes” sobre el pronto canonizado Beato Junipero Serra. ¿Sabías que cuando el padre Serra murió en 1784 había establecido nueve misiones en California donde se bautizaron a 5,800 Nativos Americanos desde su llegada en 1769? Esas nueve misiones crecieron a 21. Hoy en día, aproximadamente el 60% de la población de casi 39 millones del estado viven en áreas que rodean a las misiones, y El Camino Real, el camino en que el padre Serra viajó en una excursión de las misiones poco antes de su muerte, establecería una importante arteria que corre una gran parte de la longitud del estado. ¿Sabías que cada estado de la Unión está representado por las estatuas de dos individuos de la historia del estado? TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE: Para los hispanos y las personas de otras culturas, el recuerdo y vinculación con nuestros antepasados es algo muy importante. De hecho, en las culturas latinoamericanas se usan los apellidos del padre y de la madre para enfatizar de dónde y de quiénes provienen. Muchas personas han conservado esta misma tradición aquí en Estados Unidos. Este sentido de conectarnos a nuestros antepasados también se encuentra en la fe cristiana. Mediante la imposición de manos, por citar un ejemplo, llegamos hasta los apóstoles. Podríamos decir que los cuatro evangelios subrayan esta vinculación con los orígenes de nuestra fe. La forma en que lo hacen, aunque pequeña, es interesante. Luego de que todos comieron de los panes y los peces multiplicados por Jesús, recogieron doce canastos llenos de pan. En cierta manera, los evangelistas aseguran que el pan que Jesús dio al gentío de su tiempo nos lo sigue dando hoy en la eucaristía. ¿POR QUÉ ES IMPORTANTE QUE TE INSCRIBAS EN LA PARROQUIA? El ser miembro tiene muchos beneficios 1. Eres parte primordial de la vida parroquial. 2. Tienes un hogar espiritual, ya que en la parroquia se celebran muchos de los grandes momentos sacramentales en la vida de una persona. 3. Los sacerdotes tienen la información de la familia en caso de cualquier emergencia. 4. Los sacerdotes pueden administrar cualquier tipo de necesidad sacramental y espiritual, tales como Bautismo, Confirmación, Comunión y Matrimonio, así como funerales, presentación al templo de niños de 3 años, quinceañeras, etc. 5. La iglesia puede facilitarte cartas de referencia o de recomendación cuando se tiene un historial de membresía de la persona. Estas cartas pueden ser dirigidas a otras parroquias si se cambian de residencia, o a la oficina de Inmigración o Cortes judiciales, etc. 6. Encuentras un lugar donde compartir con los demás. 7. Los miembros cuentan con el apoyo de la parroquia. 8. Se tiene un sentido de pertenencia y de unidad como miembros de la parroquia. 9. Tienes un lugar de adoración y culto. 10. Tu información como miembro es útil para el uso de estadísticas tales como directorios católicos. 15. Tu información es importante a nivel Diocesano para poder responder a las necesidades de las parroquias dentro de sus jurisdicción, tales como la asignación de sacerdotes que hablen el idioma de la mayoría como es Español, Vietnamita, etc. así como para determinar las necesidades económicas de la parroquia.
