A PLACE OF LEARNING FOR A CITY THAT IS PROGRESSING Despite being called a city, Palayan City is actually

With that, the form of the library is inspired by what

one of the most sparsely populated areas in the Philippines with only 45,383 people according to the 2020 census. In spite of all that, on June 19, 1965, the Philippine Congress enacted RA 4475 making Palayan City the new capital of Nueva Ecija.

PALAYAN, in English, rice paddies, was chosen as the name of the new capital to reflect the moniker bestowed upon the province of Nueva Ecija as the Rice Granary of the Philippines.

CREATING STRONG CONNECTIONS BETWEEN NATURE AND THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT THROUGH BIOPHILIA Among the cities in Metro Manila, Pasay has the

the outdoor environment or that offer views and even access to beautiful, landscaped areas, plants, and/or water features. Cercania aims to provide the citizens of Pasay City with a breathing civic space, providing them direct access to nature and the built environment.

Biophilia, defined as love of life, seeks to connect people with nature to improve their well-being and quality of life. Humans have an instinctual connection to nature, so it makes sense that we feel

IMPROVED TRANSIT STATIONS The tricycle station and bus stop were redesigned to complement the structure and enhance the environment. Residents and visitors may be more inclined to use public transportation as an outcome of this. Installing bike shelters outside of companies

or

schools

might

encourage employees or students to use bicycles as a mode of transportation. Cycling is the ideal options to provide folks with short healthy journeys on a regular basis, from a general energy boost to overall fitness and reducing worry for tension. Encourage commuters to switch to cycling as a mode of transportation to drastically reduce carbon

emissions.

This

is

an

excellent approach to contribute to a more sustainable environment, which will result in more healthy and productive individuals.

From manual to digital. From rectilinear to curvilinear. Architectural Design 5 taught me to go outside my comfort zone and explore different architectural styles while still taking into consideration the functionality of the structure. Although inspirations and concepts are limitless, given conditions and parameters helped me in designing structures accordingly.

Architectural Design 5 may be one of the hardest and most challenging subjects but it is also one of the most fulfilling. Seeing my works and progress, I can say that I am growing not just an architecture student but as a future architect.

PORTFOLIO

I would consider Plate 1 (Palayan City Community Library) as one of my groundbreaking works throughout my whole architecture school journey. According to Ar. Fernandez, my design looked like a "feminine version of Bauhaus." This feedback will forever motivate me to do better in all my future plates.

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN 5

Moreover, this subject taught me to come up with designs that are workable and feasible but at the same time creative and timeless. Ar. Fernandez's critiques and suggestions also helped me big time in improving my schemes and works.
