4 La Bicilinear Competition Proposal in Bogota, Colombia The first competition identifies methodological and conceptual ideas for public interventions on the urbanrural board between the city and the Western Mountains (Cerrros Orientales) of Bogotá, the capital of Colombia. The competitions attempt to address the problems with the intense rural to urban migration phenomenon which has caused an urban sprawl in Bogota. Our understanding of the cultural heritage, socio-economic and environmental challenges informed our conceptual design of linking each of the 20 sites with an orange cycle line. The large scale infrastructure proposal attempt to link the different strata’s and provide an alternate route for commuters and to encourage public engagement with the mountain range. The cycle line was chosen based on a contour so the path is relatively flat and where the land is uneven such as at a stream or valley, the line is bridged across. Competition 1 | LA BICILINEAR

Site Plan City Scale | LA BICILINEAR The map highlights the 20 sites chosen by the competition. The orange line shows the cycle route through these sites. The bridge collage render is of the connection with Favella from the site which combines a Rhino model with images from Google Earth.

10 La Coma Artist Residence Competition in La Puebla de Fantova, Huesca, Spain. La Coma Artist residence competition aims to create a series of living and working spaces for artists and travelers in the spirit of Gaudi. The goal is to attract people to the village which currently is under going rural depopulation. The vaulted celling is a modern interpretation of traditional terracotta Catalan roof supported by steel columns to maximize light. The series of vault containing the main programs of the buildings outline in the competition brief are carved into the hill side and sit behind a perforated terracotta brick wall. The wall acts as a symbol within the landscape inspired by the idea of a line or datum in the terrain which follows the contours of the site. From the perspective of the village, our proposal does not obstruct the view of the natural landscape however, on your approach towards the village, the artist residence standouts and can be seen for miles. Zooming into our proposal, the wall is more permeable with moments that frame the landscape and which is used the artist to display outdoor art. The wall takes you on a journey from the entrance into the heart of the site. We are preserving a large portion of the trees already located in site and designing where possibly around them.
