The $2 and $5 Clerical Endowment Fund Cards remember someone for one year in Masses by our Bishop and prayers of our Seminarians. $25 and $50 perpetual cards give someone or a family a perpetual remembrance in the Masses of our Bishop and the prayers of our Seminarians. This is a very good spiritual gift for a deceased person’s family, or on the occasion of a wedding anniversary, or a birthday, or graduation or the reception of a Sacrament. Everyone appreciates prayers. A friend or relative of yours dies - you want to do something to show that you care. Maybe you take food to the family, you try to say some comforting words. Flowers and plants are expensive and they die too soon. What about being a part of a perpetual Clerical Endowment Fund Card for the deceased. Give $5 and your name will be included in the memorial to the family of the deceased. That person will be remembered perpetually in the Masses of our Bishop and in the prayers of our Seminarians. That same $5 will be used to help educate our Seminarians - future priests who will serve us in this Diocese. Contact Tina Esquivel at the Parish Office for more information.

San José Church,  Austin, Texas Stewardship The Scriptures today remind us that “we, many though we are, are one body for we all partake of the one loaf.” How are we using our gifts of time and talent to build up the body of Christ?

Help Line Angels

One of the most effective roles we can play in the life of someone in despair is to be the first to respond with hope and healing. Help Line Angels serve in this role as they answer calls for both women and men facing an unplanned pregnancy and those suffering from a past abortion. You can take an active role in building a Culture of Life and, as a Help Line Angel, you can do so from your own home. For more information or to be trained, contact Rebecca Niemerg at (512) 9492488 or [email protected]. •

Theology of the Body Study Series Open to Young Adults of Austin

Freedom is a powerful word. The world says freedom is the ability to do what we want, whenever we want, with whomever we want. But has this led to strong relationships, strong families, or strong communities? Since the days of the “sexual revolution,” the opposite has played out resulting in sexual chaos, exploitation, broken families, and a lot of pain. Recognizing the world’s confusion, Pope John Paul II proclaimed the Theology of the Body—a profound message of love and human sexuality. In it, he declared that authentic freedom is meant to lead to authentic love. Freedom to Love is a powerful, five-part study based on the Theology of the Body that is specifically intended for young adults and college students and is presented by popular author and expert Christopher West. In it he lays out a convincing and refreshing road map to living a life of authentic freedom and love. This DVD and workbook study will be held on Thursdays July 7, 14, 21, 28 and August 4 from 7-9pm at Emmaus Catholic Parish at the Youth Space in the PLC. It is open to all young adults ages 18-39 and is free aside from an optional workbook purchase. For more information and to register, email [email protected].
