Best Theme Composition Winner: Kavisarah "Kiwi" Keawsrikul (G6/1) Contest Dates: August 21-28, 2015 If BBS were a fantasy school, the classrooms would be very colourful. The tables and chairs would be made of candies. Students would wear clothes with wings on their backs and everyone would fly at school. The library would have many magical books such as “How to Speak to Animals” and “How to Teleport”. Students could perform magic in the laboratory, like making stones float on water, or making magical potion of invisibility. If students were hungry, they could pick up their favorite food in the air. The playground would have cute animals like dinosaurs, unicorns and Pegasus, and they would love to play with students. The slider would look like a rainbow. The swimming pool would look like a big cup of orange juice. The school bus would be made of candies and the shop would not sell things, but would give things to every student instead! Everyone would surely be happy in BBS fantasy school!

Speak UP We are proud to announce that the Speak Up Programme has produced 50 awardees from the Kindergarten Level and over 90 endorsers from the Primary level on Semester 1-2015! On 9 September 2015, Praewploy "Disney" Shinna (G2/2) completed Level 2. She received coupons worth 500 baht, a Speak Up trophy and a certificate. She is the first ever Speak Up Narrator, and will advance to Level 3 starting on the 1st week of Semester 2-2015. To keep the students motivated, we are adding 2 more levels, Levels 3 and 4, to the programme! Therefore we will have the following titles:  Level 2 – Speak Up Endorsers  Level 3 – Speak Up Narrators  Level 4 – Speak Up Correspondents (to be announced in the next issue) Speak Up Level 3 - Narrator Guidelines: 1. Speak English at all times, except during Thai classes. Be honest. 2. Narrators are REQUIRED to narrate 1-2 stories per week. Narrators are expected to be prepared. They can practice and construct their thoughts at home, with the help of parents or guardians. Please refer to the list of books assigned and posted at the bulletin. 3. Narrators will be interviewed by the school director every Thursday and Friday ONLY, from 15:30-16:30 hours. They will also be asked to narrate clearly and confidently. 4. Chosen narrators will narrate at the morning assembly the following Monday. 5. Collect 10 stickers and win a coupon worth 300 baht. 6. Collect 25 stickers and win a coupon worth 450 baht. 7. Collect 45 stickers and win a coupon worth 600 baht. 8. Collect 70 stickers and win a special prize worth 750 baht. You will also receive the “Speak Up” Narrator plaque, a Correspondent badge and a certificate. programme We intend to keep the programme going until they complete all 4 levels. Every end of the school year, the programme will reset. Some important notes: Students who have reached Level 2 will

restart from Level 2, thus keeping their Endorser status. Students who have reached Level 3 will restart from Level 3, thus keeping their Narrator status. Students who have reached Level 4 will restart from Level 4, thus keeping their Correspondent status. The rest of the students who have not completed any levels will restart from Level 1. We wish to keep everyone motivated and interested. We predict that the 4 levels are sufficient to keep the students active with their Speak Up, from Grade 1 until they reach Grade 6. To all Speak Up awardees, congratulations and keep up the good work! To the parents who always guide and support their children in this programme, thank you very much!

Science Fun Fireworks in a Jar If you have a little one who is fascinated with colours and fireworks, this simple experiment is for you. You most likely have everything you already need in your cupboard for these fireworks in a jar: oil, water, and food colouring! 1. Fill your jar with 3/4 warm water. 2. In a separate bowl, mix 3-4 tablespoons of oil and 4 drops of different colours of food colouring (red, yellow, blue, and green). 3. Use a fork to gently mix the oil and food colouring together. 4. Gently pour the oil mixture into the jar. 5. Watch what happens—the food colouring will slowly sink out of the oil and into the water. When this happens, it will expand and begin to mix with the other colours.

The Science Behind It: Food colouring dissolves in water but not in oil. Because the oil is less dense than the water, it will float at the top. The coloured droplets will begin to sink because they are heavier than the oil. Once they sink into the water, they will begin dissolving into the water (which looks like a tiny explosion).
