August 18, 2015 Parents/Guardians: Every child who resides in Belleville is entitled to a free public school education, without regard to the immigration or citizenship status of the child or anyone who resides in the child’s household. In a proactive attempt to ensure that only Belleville residents are enrolled in our schools, I notified you on May 11, 2015 that every student in the district would need to re-register before the start of the 2015-2016 school year. Please be advised that the re-registration form enclosed with the May 11, 2015 letter is no longer being used. Parents and guardians who have not yet re-registered their children should instead submit the enclosed revised registration form. (If you have already submitted a re-registration form, please disregard this mailing.) Forms can also be found under our registration link on our website: www.bellevilleschools.org. Please complete the enclosed form to the best of your ability. You will also need to submit proof of residency in Belleville with the form. Such proof may include a copy of your deed if you own your home, a current lease or certification from your landlord if you rent, a water bill, tax bill, and/or a current bill or paycheck with the appropriate address. The district welcomes multiple documents, and other documents proving residency in Belleville may also be acceptable. Students who previously attended Belleville schools who are now homeless, and/or students whose permanent residence is in Belleville with persons other than their parent or legal guardian (such as a relative or close family friend), are also eligible to register for school. Those students or their parents/caretakers should contact Mrs. Yolanda Luna at (973) 450-3500, ext. 1019 for assistance with reregistration or may contact the Education Law Center at the phone number given below. All completed packets can be mailed or dropped off at the Belleville Board of Education Office, door 26, 102 Passaic Avenue, Belleville, NJ 07109. The district would like to receive all completed re-registration packets by Wednesday, August 26, 2015. However, no child will be denied admission to the new school semester even if this form is completed on or after school begins on September 2, 2015. Students who are not registered by August 26th should still attend class on September 2, 2015 and submit their registration forms as soon as possible.

August 18, 2015 Padres/tutores: Cada niño que reside en Belleville tiene derecho a una educación pública gratuita, sin tener en cuenta el estatus migratorio o ciudadanía del niño o de cualquier persona que resida en el hogar del niño.
