There are three parts in this paper: Part I is a Listening Comprehension Test (instructions on pages 2 and 5 of this booklet); Part II is a Reading Comprehension Test; Part III is a Written Expression Test.

PART I: LISTENING COMPREHENSION (140 MARKS) If you have difficulty hearing the recording, raise your hand now to indicate to the Superintendent that the sound should be adjusted. Once the test proper has started you must not interrupt. The test consists of four sections: - Section A: Dialogues; Section B: Announcements; Section C: News Item; Section D: Descriptive Passages.

You will hear each item in these Sections three times. The first recording is to give you a general idea of the content and it is suggested that you listen carefully and do not write the answers. At the end of this recording you will hear two pips. At the end of the second reading you will hear two pips and this will be followed by a long pause during which you should write the answers in English to the written questions in the spaces provided on the examination paper. The third recording is to give you an opportunity to revise your answers. It will be followed by a continuous tone which signals the end of the test on that particular item. There will be a short pause between items.

Figo, como tantas veces, salía con su dueña Audrey Stone que tiene cincuenta y cinco años y es ciega. Los dos se dirigían a cruzar la calle por un paso de peatones en Nueva York.
El perro guía vio que un autobús escolar se dirigía directamente a ellos, porque el conductor no se había notado que estaban cruzando la calle. Figo se lanzó contra el autobús para impedir que Audrey recibiera lo más duro del impacto con el vehículo.

IBIZA: una isla de dos caras Situada en el mar mediterráneo, a sólo 80 kilómetros de la costa este de España, Ibiza se hizo famosa en los años sesenta, por ser sede de los ‘hippys’. Ahora más de ciento veinte mil personas viven en la isla. En las últimas décadas, Ibiza tiene fama por su vida nocturna, sus discotecas, sus tiendas y sus terrazas de moda. Sin embargo, Ibiza tiene una historia muy rica y ofrece una amplia gama de monumentos y murallas, museos y edificios históricos como la catedral, el palacio episcopal, el ayuntamiento y el castillo. La isla tiene un clima muy agradable, con más de 2.750 horas de sol anualmente. Los meses más calurosos son julio y agosto, con temperaturas medias de veintiséis grados.
