 Dear Brothers and Sisters, Today is Divine Mercy Sunday, and the Second Sunday of Easter. “Jesus I trust in Thee”

Ask Jesus for healing. Allow Him to touch and Heal you! Blessed John Paul II indicated in one of his Divine Mercy Sunday homilies in 2001, that the Divine Mercy, in the clear or pale light ray representing the water, portrays the giving of the Holy Spirit, present in all the other sacraments of the Catholic Church. Welcome!

Welcome to our very own new members of OUR Catholic Faith here at Saint Rosalie’s. I want to congratulate our new parishioners who have received their sacraments at the Easter Vigil and been received into full communion in the Church: Anthony Rodriguez, Al Orlando who received his First Communion and Confirmation and also Steven Smith Jr., who is a catechumen receiving his Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation. They have studied with us this year in the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. What a great example of living our Catholic faith these faithful men and women are for all of us. Please welcome them to worship together with us!

I wish to thank all who helped our parish to pray so beautifully during Holy week and Easter: my fellow priests, our deacons, and parish staff, parishioners who served as lectors, Eucharistic ministers, ushers, cantors, choir member, altar servers, ministers of hospitality, worship and environment committee, and all who helped to create the appropriate prayerful atmosphere for our parish this Holy Week. Mary has made a significant difference in helping me to manage the business affairs of the parish. On Easter Sunday morning we celebrated the fact that Christ is Risen! This is the culmination of our faith as Catholics. The parish is very grateful to each one of you who have made a donation for Easter flowers, or memorialized a loved one. We are a people of Hope because of our faith, our faith in Jesus Christ! The flower donations remembering a loved one this Easter- may help each of us and also beautifies the sanctuary, the Repository on Holy Thursday night and your church, where we worship and pray together or in quiet moments alone. Easter flowers give off a fragrance like our prayers rising like incense to God! Eucharistic Ministers’ Training

The training for new Eucharistic Ministers will be offered on Saturday, April 25, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at McGann-Mercy High School, Riverhead. We are in need of more ministers for this very important ministry of serving Eucharist to our many parishioners. Those who wish to minister in hospitals, nursing homes and to homebound persons are also required to attend a second session on Saturday, May 9, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at McGann-Mercy High School. Today, the first Sunday after Easter, is Divine Mercy Sunday. This special Sunday was requested by our Lord through St. Faustina and proclaimed a part of the calendar of the Catholic Church by Pope John Paul II in the year 2000. On this day, the floodgates of forgiveness are opened to all the faithful. To qualify, people must receive communion, say prayers for the Pope, and have attended the Sacrament of St. Rosalie’s Gala on the Bay

Young Holy Ones Give Hope An Honor and Blessing It is an honor and blessing to witness all of the wonderful acts of love our young parishioners perform. I’m not sure if those are the words they would use to express all they do- but in essence, it is out of love. It is the love of Jesus in them going out to others through their expression and spirit as they participate in either sports, acting, fundraising, school clubs and organizations, their academic achievements, as well as their participation in Church activities. It is using the love of the gifts given to them by God for the good and joy of

others. They are our source of hope and assurance that their Catholic spirits are alive. These pictures are a sample of what has recently taken place within our parish. These are some of the Respect Life finalists receiving their certificates from Bishop Andre on Thursday, March 26 at Kellenberg High School. We had eight finalists from our parish this year out of over 2,400 entries from the diocese. Although none came home with a placement award, we are so proud of their achievements! Please keep our young parishioners in your prayers as

they receive their First Reconciliation this week. It is a sign of God’s grace to watch their young faces as they enter church with a look of anything but joy, and then to watch the change that forgiveness brings as they leave with the smile that shows what took place within the sacrament. The Youth Group is scheduled to meet at the OLH gym on Sunday, April 12 at 6 p.m. We’ll enjoy time together playing, competing, then eating and praying. Another time to witness God’s spirit in our younger generation!

God is good… all the time!

Creemos Sin Haber Visto - Eso es lo que quería Tomás. "Si yo no meto mi dedo en la llaga de sus manos y si no meto mi mano en su costado, no creo". "Ocho días después -fíjense qué expresión más bonita: ¡ocho días después!, como que ya Juan está canonizando nuestra reunión dominical, el domingo siguiente, como si yo les dijera hoy: el otro domingo nos vamos a reunir. Ya se insinúa, pues, la celebración dominical estaban reunidos y Tomás estaba allí..." Cristo, gozando de esas cualidades de los cuerpos resucitados que no necesita que le abran las puertas -es ya un cuerpo espiritual- se presenta en medio de ellos. Un fantasma -diríamos nosotros-, sin embargo, se enfrenta al incrédulo. "Ven, mete tu dedo en mis manos, mete tu mano en mi costado y palpa que Yo soy". Tomás, no nos dice el Evangelio si metió su dedo y su mano, lo que sí nos dice es su reacción de fe: cayó ante Cristo diciendo el grito más hermoso de la fe que se conserva en el Evangelio: " ¡Señor mío y Dios mío!" ¡Esto es creer, no es necesario palpar! Cuando queremos evidencias, cuando queremos sentir las verdades de la fe, estamos imitando la incredulidad de Tomás. Y Cristo le dice a Tomás: "porque has visto, has creído. Bienaventurados los que sin ver, creen". Ustedes y yo, queridos hermanos, vivimos de una fe porque creemos sin haber visto. Y muchos dicen que esto es una estupidez, pero yo les digo: no hay sabiduría más grande que esta que Cristo predica este domingo: la FE. ¡Esta es la victoria que vence al mundo!
